Re: Coach Em' Up!: The Career of Rock Denby (NCAA 14 & Madden 25)

A Bad Week for METRO

Aside from Georgetown putting a beating on UMass, and Lehigh surviving Portland State 28-23, the entirety of the Metro Athletic Conference lost in their first weekends in the FBS. There were some close contests for the METRO, such as Villanova losing to Eastern Washington 28-21, Towson losing to Oklahomas State 23-17, and Monmouth dropping a heart breaker to Lafayette 27-24.

In all it was not a productive weekend for the METRO, but that is to be expected for a conference comprised of teams who are all in their first year of competition in major college football.

Most of you didn't start, but I now have control of all teams in the METRO with OS players, and have updated depth charts...so you'll see stats coming each week from now on.

Game Notes
Georgetown came out and showed the world they meant business, hammering UMass 48-21, totaling nearly 600 yards of offense and showing the brilliance of Freshman quarterback Jeff Sanders. Sanders will have his ups and downs this season, but from his performance against UMass his ups are high.

Georgetown Wins If...Sanders plays the way he did a week ago, and can move the ball on the ground and through the air efficiently.

UNLV Wins If...They can cause trouble to Sanders and make him make mistakes. He is a young quarterback and will have issues if he is rushed, but UNLV has not done a good job of that so far in their two losses this season.

Re: Coach Em' Up!: The Career of Rock Denby (NCAA 14 & Madden 25)

Hoyas Win Despite Several Key Injuries
Down went Jeff Sanders after a 13 yard run, clutching his chest. Sanders would not return. His replacement Isaiah Kempf was slammed on an incomplete pass, bruising his throwing shoulder and would not return, and Nick Campanella broke his collarbone, and will miss 6-8 weeks for Georgetown.

Through all that, third string quaterback Kyle Nolan was able to lead Georgetown to just enough offense to get out of Las Vegas feeling lucky with a 10-9 win over UNLV. Nolan was just 5 of 12 for 54 yards, but picked up several key first downs with his feet before Campanella found the end zone to give the Hoyas a 10-6 lead.

Campanella came down akwardly on the play as he was fighting for the end zone, and laid clutching his shoulder in pain for a long period before being helped off the field.

"Nick is going to miss some good time with a broken collarbone. It's hard because he was running so well for us, but the next guy in line will need to step up and make plays." said Coach Denby.

This was a far cry from the 48 points and 590 yards of offense Georgetown put up against UMass, clearly missing their quarterback, but the Hoya defense was able to make big plays, forcing two turnovers to help make life easier on the offense which managed only 303 yards of offense, including 199 on the ground.

Kyle Nolan, the third string quarterback led the game winning drive for Georgetown.

I've never seen two QBs get knocked out for the game before. Thank god my third string QB could throw the ball.

Re: Coach Em' Up!: The Career of Rock Denby (NCAA 14 & Madden 25)

Not a Bad Week for METRO Conference Teams

Unlike a week ago when only two METRO teams were able to pick up wins, this week four teams were able to secure W's, but three managed to lose to FCS teams.

Richmond got past Memphis 13-10, but Xavier Collins was unable to record a tackle.

UNC Charlotte got beatdown by #2 Georgia, 52-13. Corey Manziel had a tough game going just 6 of 17 for 56 yards, and carrying 3 times for 6 yards. Kicker Connor Davis was 2 of 2 on field goals with a long of 47 yards

Monmouth was embarrassed by The Citadel 24-17, but Matt Viselli was able to haul in 3 catches for 21 yards.

Robert Morris was handled by UC Santa Barbara 21-10. Ryan Cooper was hurt on the first series, but won't be out long.

Rhode Island dropped a close one to Pacific 17-14, but Alex Owens was held out of action.

Coastal Carolina brought Houston behind the woodshed, beating them 38-13. Powered by Rex Johnson and his 144 yards on 30 carries with one touchdown. He also hauled in 2 balls for 48 yards.

HB Nick Campanella | Broken Collarbone
5 Weeks
Game Notes
Georgetown will be without starting running back Nick Campanella for the next 4-6 weeks while he recovers from a broken collarbone suffered in the 10-9 win at UNLV a week ago, but will have Jeff Sanders back under center. The offense wasn't quite anemic, putting up over 300 yards against UNLV, but that was just more than half of what they had in a Week 1 beatdown of UMass.

Georgetown Wins If...Jeff Sanders stays healthy. He takes a lot of hits with his play style, and it's evident the Hoyas can't stand to lose him for the game, or even longer again.

New Mexico Wins If...They can slow down Sanders, and make him make mistakes.
