SEAHAWKS FINISH PERFECT PRESEASON

The Seahawks finsihed the preseason with a perfect 4-0 record after defeating the Oakland Raiders 17-10 in the final warm up game.

(Stats are unprovided as I simmed the game and it doesn't know show in the recamp

HAWKS CUT 6 TO GET TO #53

The final 6 cuts were difficult to make but in the end "The Deuce" and Coach Pete decided it was best to run with just 2 QB's keeping former starter Tarvaris Jackson to backup Russell Wilson and cutting Brady Quinn. Quinn a 1st Round draft pick in 2007 by the Browns has just never been able to find a team in which he could showcase his talent.

Coach Pete-
Quote:
We actually really liked what we saw out of Brady in the preseason and should anything happen at the QB position we will keep in touch. However I believe someone will give him a chance if we don't

The next cut, not only hurt everyone involved in making the decision but the entire team as well as the "I am #12 Hawks Fan Base". FB Michael Robinson. A 2012 Pro Bowler, Robinson became a fan favorite in his 3 seasons in Seattle for his huge effort.

Robinson was instantly snatched up by the Dallas Cowboys signing a 1 year deal.

"The Deuce"-
Quote:
I will miss Michael. I was a fan of his when he was at Penn State and was happy when Seattle signed him away from the 49's. I wish him the best in Dallas
Next Seattle cut DT Tony McDaniel whom they had just signed away from Jacksonville in the Off season, moving Red Bryant back to DT to start and keeping rookie Jordan Hill and 2nd year Jaye Howard to be the backups.

The Hawks then cut youth in the last 3, releasing LT Mike Pearson, TE Anthony McCoy, WR Stephen Williams and OLB Alllen Bradford.

Cutting Williams was hard to do, because he led the team with 9 receptions in the preseason and at 6'5 I loved his size but his Overall just wasn't there

HAWKS ADD FORMER BRONCO TE JULIUS THOMAS

Some issues off the field, ended up causing Thomas to be one of the last cuts going into Week 1. Orginally drafted in the 4th round in 2011, Thomas played both Basketball and Football at Portland State. He has great potential and some feel could follow in the footsteps of Antonio Gates as a great red zone target and matchup night mare for LB's.

With Zach Miller out for the season, Thomas will start out as the backup to rookie Luke Wilson but could push for the starting job if he can stay out of trouble.

Re: Beauty and the Beast ( Seattle Seahawks Madden 25)

A Final look at the 53-man roster and a look at some cuts and signings around the league next. Then it's on to Week 1 and some upcoming Draft looks.

I don't have NCAA 14, so my drafts are going to be fictional players. Also in case I forget to mention it, I am not running 32 team control becacuse I don't want to deal with the stadium pricing ect.. However at times through out the Franchise I do plan on taking over teams who end up with to many players at 1 spot and make some trades. (Example I will probably take over the Browns at some point to deal Richardson to the Colts)

MEET YOUR 2013 SEAHAWKS

QUARTERBACK

Starter-Russell Wilson will look to show in Year 2 that is one of elite QB's in the league. Expect big things, as Coach Pete looks to allow Wilson to show off his arm this season.

Backup-Tarvaris Jackson is back for his 2nd stint with the team. Orginally brough in to be the starter, Jackson is a favorite among teammates, now his role is to make sure he is ready when needed and to continue to help Wilson grow.

RUNNING BACK

Starter-Marshawn Lynch "The Beast" has proven he has the skills to go off and dominate anytime he touches the ball. Is he really part Beast or is it the magic skittles he eats between plays, whatever it is he is ready.

The Backups

Rookie Christine Michael enters Week 1 as the backup and with 5 TD's in the preseason shows he knows how to find paydirt, well fellow Rookie DJ Harper a late addition with the injury of Robert Turbin, showed he too knows how to run hard with almost 300 yards in 3 games including a 116 yr performance in Week 2.

WIDE RECEIVER

Starters-Sidney Rice and Golden Tate are proven and exciting playmakers, ready to show that they can make things happen, and that just maybe the Hawks don't need Percy Harvin.

The Backups- Austin Pettis came over in a trade from the Rams and proved he can make big plays and amazing receptions. He will serve as the #3 but is a capable fill in should Rice or Tate go down. Doug Baldwin got hurt in the preseason but is back and ready to challenge Jermaine Kearse for the #4 WR spot. Both players are capable of making big plays and have earned the trust of both QB's. Legedu Naanee made the team over Stephen Williams and will be the #6 WR, but only until Percy Harvin comes back from his injury, then chances are he will be released. He will also serve as the #3 TE and could even be the emergency QB, as he did play in high school and was orginally given a scholarship to BSU as a QB.

TIGHTENDS

Starter- Rookie Luke Wilson provides a great target at 6'5 and with the injury to Zach Miller (now on the season ending IR), showed he has the skills to play at this level.

Backup-Julius Thomas has shown glimpses of why the Broncos made him a 4th round pick. He is big 6'5, fast and can jump, making him a great redzone target.

O-LINE

LT-R. Okung and LG J. Carpenter represent former first round picks, the Hawks hope can finally play 16 games and live up to their billing. Center M. Unger is proven and reliable, well RG J.R. Sweezy beat out rookie Alvin Bailey for the change to start Week 1. RT B. Giacomini will start, but with the 3rd most penalties in the NFL the past 3 years will need to start strong or the Hawks might be looking for a F.A. pickup.

The Backups- T/G P. McQuistan is actually considered the #6 starter. He will fill in where ever someone gets hurt, Rookies A. Bailey and M. Bowie will both look to step up prove they can start in this league, well 2nd year R. Johnson sticks around as another guard option and L. Jeanpierre makes the squad as the backup center.

D-LINE

Starters LE-M. Bennett and RE C. Arvil were both Free Agent additions and both will take over as starters, well Red Bryant moves to the inside and will start with B. Mebane. This is a veteran group who knows how to get to the passer and stop the run.

The Backups- Having former starter C. Clemons your leading sack man from last year, as well as former 1st round pass rusher B. Irvin ready to rotate in gives the Hawks a very scary pass rush attack. rookie Jordan Hill and 2nd year man Jaye Howard provide nice depth on the inside too.

LINEBACKERS

The Starters-KJ Wright and Bobby Wagner are one of the best young LB combos in the league, and former USC Trojan RB turned LB Malcom Smith provides blazing speed from the outside.

The Backups-2nd year man Korey Toomer and rookie Ty Powell will be the backups and will need to learn quick. Pass Rush specialist Bruce Irvin will also spend some time backing up Smith on the outside and could even be a possible starter should a injury happen.

THE SECONDARY

The Starters-CB's R. Sherman and B. Browner along with FS E. Thomas and SS K. Chancellor provide one of the best units in the NFL. They are also by far the biggest and they don't give up any speed either. All 4 are potential pro bowlers and can flat out shut down opposing players.

The Backups CB's W. Thurmond, J. Lane and B. Maxwell all could be starters for some teams, and all will continue to push each other for the chance to be the guy who fills in for a injury. Until then they make for a great Nickle and Dime package. Veteran Safety Quintin Mikell will backup both Thomas and Chancellor and has proven he has the skills to start. Jeron Johnson will continue to be a special team beast, and will also see action in some dime packages.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Place Kicker-S. Hauschaka can hit from 50 yards plus and is as close as you can get to money on XP and short FG. He will also handle the kickoff duties.

Punter-J. Ryan is among the leagues best at pinning teams inside the 20 and this preseason had a Avg of over 45 yards a punt. He has a strong leg and could also handle kickoff duties if needed.

Return Man-Golden Tate will handle both kickoffs and punts with Harvin out. Backup RB DJ Harper will serve as the #2, however with Baldwin back he too could fill in.

INJURY LIST
WR P. Harvin-Hip Flexor-Out until Week 7
RB R. Turbin-Broken Hand-Out until Week 5
TE Z. Miller-Broken Collarbone-Out for the season
OLB M. Morgan-Complete PCL Tear-Out for season

I like that Thomas signing.

And poor Brady Quinn. He and Tebow should start a support group.

Well at least Teabow in my game has a job. He was kept by the Patriots. In fact every team but my Hawks kept 3 QB's.

WELCOME TO UNEMPLOYEMNT

With all teams officially making the cut's to get their teams down to the 53-man roster for Week 1, here are some note able players in Free Agency. Maybe if they don't get a call in a couple weeks they can just hook up with the NFL for a job in a different capacity.

QB's

With every team but the Seattle Seahawks keeping 3 QB's, the Free Agent pool is a little slim. Colt McCoy leads the group and is joined by Thaddeus Lewis, Brady Quinn, Mike Kafka, Tyler Thigpen, Rex Grossman, Josh McCown and and Case Keenum

RB's and FB's

Being a veteran running back puts alot of wear and tear on the old legs, but M. Turner, W. McGahee, B. Jacobs, R. Grant, B. Wells all believe they still have something to give. However they are now joined by some more guy's who could make a impact on the right team as the Lions cut Joique Bell, the Steelers cut I. Redman, the Patriots cut both Leon Washington and B. Bolden, the Packers cut J. Starks, the Bengals cut B. Scott, the Browns cut M. Hardesty among others.

With M. Robinson signing with the Cowboys, Will Johnson leads the list for guy's who like to lead the way for blockers in a very limited selection.

WR's and TE's

Randy Moss still thinks he can play in the NFL? Come on and just give up already. Maybe you and P. Burress can go hit some nightclubs together. If a team was in need of help in the receiving game, here would be a list of guy's they could get. Kevin Walter, Donald Jones, Jabar Gaffney, Julian Edelman, Dexter McCluster, Johnny Knox, and many others.

Don't just need a guy who can run and catch? Well here is a list of guy's who will occasionally block as well. V. Shiancoe, D. Lee, C. Harbor, D. Rosario, L. Pope, E. Moore, D. Thomas among others.

O-Line

Wow talk about slim pickings. Jared Gaither, Winston Justice, Jason Smith and Sean Locklear lead the list of veteran Tackles, well former Ohio State Buckeye Reid Fragel leads the way for rookies not making a team.

If you thought it was bad with guy's protecting the blindside, here is the best of the road graders, LG Chilo Rachal, and RG's Bill Nagy and rookie Travis Bond

Need to get the ball to your QB, E. Amano has the experience after 9 years in the league, but that's just getting desperate.

D-Line

With rushing the passer at a premium, there is not much left here to talk about. Marcus Benard, Keyunta Dawson, Ryan Davis, John Chick, and rookie Armonty Bryant are what's left.

Need to plug a hole? Well there is a few decent options in Amobi Okoye, Trevor Laws, Anthony Hargrove, Sedrick Ellis, Shaun Cody, and Mike Patterson.

Should be noted that Ellis, Cody and Patterson are all former USC players.

LB's

Former #11 Overall pick in the 2009 draft Aaaron Maybin leads the list, but he feels like his art career is going well, so not sure how soon we will see him on the field. Former Hawk Heath Farwell is among the rest of the best available.

DB's

Veteran CB R. Mathis leads a pretty decent group that includes, S. Routt, P. Lee, C. Francies, T Campbell, W. Middleton, Philip Adams, and former Boise State Bronco Chris Carr

If you need a guy who loves to hit, teams should call Madieu Williams, James Sanders, Abram Elam, Erik Coleman, Ryan Mundy or rookie James Sentef

PK and Punters

Former Hawk Olindo Mare leads the group, that also includes N. Folk, D. Buehler and and rookie Caleb Sturgis.

Vet's Nick Harris and Brian Moorman have done it for 12 years, but 2nd year Brad Nortman has a pretty decent leg and could be worth a call.

HAWKS MADE A FEW ROSTER CHANGES FOR BEFORE WEEK 1

It was learned that starting LT Russell Okung pulled his Groin and will not be ready for Week 1, leaving "The Deuce" to make a few last minute changes to the Final 53 man roster.

The Seahawks have annoucned that they have released WR Legedu Naanee, RG R. Johnson and DT J. Howard.

Joining the Hawks are former RB/KR Leon Washington, Rookie O-Lineman Travis Bond and former USC Trojan DT Sedrick Ellis.

"The Deuce"
Quote:
After talking it over with Coach Carroll we felt like Bond has a bigger upside then Rishaw Johnson and could even more to Tackle down the road. Paul McQuistan will start this week at LT. As far as Leon and Sedrick goes. Coach Pete really felt like Ellis gives us a better veteran backup at DT behind Mebane and Bryant and could push Bryant for the starting job. As far as bringing back Leon. He felt his ability to return kicks and punts until Harvin was a better fit then keeping Legedu as a #6 WR.

VIKINGS NAME CASSEL STARTER

For 4 years in college Matt Cassel was a backup QB, but he still got his dream of playing in the NFL full filled when he was drafted by New England in the 7th round. In 2008 Cassel finally got a chance to show he can play in the league filling in for Tom Brady which latter got him traded to the Chiefs. However things never panned out (which typically don't when you play for KC) and has released only to sign with the Vikings and a chance to compete with Christian Ponder for the starting job. Well today he got word, he would be starting Week 1.

IS MARK SANCHEZ DONE IN N.Y. ?

I think it's all but official as the Jets named Rookie Geno Smith their starter in Week 1. Some rumors are Sanchez is hurt, but his name is no where on the Injury report. There was one rumor that had Coach Carroll interested in bringing Sanchez to Seattle to backup Wilson, but calls to "The Deuce" went unanswered. Only time will tell if Sanchez has a future still in the NFL.

BROWNS MIGHT TRADE RICHARDSON

Rumors have it, that the Browns don't view Trent Richardson as a franchise RB and have made it known that they would be willing to listen to 1st Round offers for the former #3 Overall pick. With teams such as Indy, Pittsburgh, Miami and both New York teams interested.

RAMS AND RAIDER PLAYERS UNHAPPY WITH THE MOVES.

Reports out of St Louis and Oakland are that many players currently under 1 year deals have reported they will not give their teams any chance of resigning them. Mostly note worthy is RB Darren McFadden, Left Tackle Jared Veldheer of the Raiders who have zero desire to play south of the Border. Well St Louis has most of their core players under contract for 2014, many wonder how many Free Agents will want to go and play in London.
