#3 Clemson Tigers vs. Boston College Eagles
Everybody knows about Boyd and Hopkins. The Superstar QB and the playmaking wideout but many forget about the guy who makes it all go. None other than Clemson Running Back Roderick McDowell who scored 4 times in the Tigers rout of the Eagles. A big mantra of Clemson’s Head Coach Dabo Swinney this year is” Run to set up the pass” and McDowell showed just why it was so effective. Early on the game was tightly contested and the Eagles even managed to hit halftime with a 24-17 lead. But McDowell scored 3 times in the second half including a defiant 12 yard run up the gut that put the game away 45-27. Clemson dropped back to #5 in the polls despite the win and will host #11 Florida State next week in a matchup with very big ACC Atlantic complications.

Superstar Watch List
Matt Viselli WR- Top 3 Schools Clemson, USC, Texas A&M (Your 46% there)
George Burns WR- Top School- Committed to Florida

And Washington downs another Pac-12 preseason powerhouse this weekend as the #21 Ducks fall 39-28. If the Huskies can beat the Will Sutton and the Arizona State Sun Devils next week the path to perfection would only have #14 UCLA left on the radar. Jeez who would have thunk we would be talking about the Huskies and their title hopes in the preseason.

In one of the best football games of the year #2 Oklahoma stays undefeated as they beat Texas in the Red River Rivalry 31-24. The game went to overtime and after Blake Bell went down it look as if all was lost. That was until backup QB Kendall Thompson came in and threw a 20yd strike in OT to walk out 6-0. Unfortunately Blake Bell’s elbow will keep him out the rest of the year……..and with it their title hopes.

Stanford and Michigan both fall out of the top 10 after they drop big conference games on the road to Utah and Penn State respectively.

It’s a bit overdue but Maryland finally finds a spot on the top 25 polls. The Lowest ranked undefeated FBS team at #21 and the only team to put an L on the Seminoles this year. They host the Tigers in a couple weeks

Re: Clemson Tiger/ Green Bay Packer

#11 Florida State Seminoles vs. #3 Clemson Tigers
Since being one of only two teams to defeat the Tigers last year everyone in a Clemson jersey was focused going into their ACC matchup with Florida State. In the first quarter big plays were plenty as both teams put up 21 points. Watkins played like a mad man in the first period scoring two TDs off kick return and through the passing game. It seemed like both teams would drop 80 by the time the game was over but the Seminoles D has different ideas. FSU’s quickness on defense completely frustrated the Tigers and held them to only 7 points in the second half. With little more than 2 minutes left in the game Tahj Boyd threw a touchdown to bring them within six but the Tigers defense was unable to get them the ball back. Florida was able to hand the Tigers their first loss of the season a lot like last year 41-35. The Tigers will try to rebound next week against Maryland.

Clemson Game Stats
Passing
Tahj Boyd 16-23 266yds 2 TDs, 2INTs

Rushing
R. McDowell 12 att, 75yds TDs
T.Boyd 12 att, 30yds

C. Peake 4 Rec, 54yds,
M. Bryant 3 Rec, 44yds, TD
A. Humphries 3 Rec, 34yds

J. Watson 4TKL, 3TFL, 2 Sacks
D. Robinson 3TKL, INT, TD

Florida State Play Makers

And then there were 4. Vanderbilt, Clemson and Maryland have all picked up their first L of the season this week. The most disheartening of the three losses was Maryland’s 24-7 loss to Wake Forest of all teams. WAKE FOREST!

A big shoutout to Auburn and Washington. Two teams who weren’t given much thought in the preseason both survived matchups against two ranked teams on the road in Arizona State and Texas A&M. I think I’m starting to believe.

Always a game big to watch every year is USC vs. Notre Dame. Both teams who were battling for their fifth win of the season played a tight game but in the end the Trojans escaped South Bend with a 28-24 win.

Re: Clemson Tiger/ Green Bay Packer

#10 Clemson Tigers vs Maryland Terrapins.
In a battle of two former unbeaten ACC teams the the Tigers butted heads with Terrapins Saturday night. It was clear in the beginning though that Maryland wouldn’t go down without a fight. On Clemson’s first drive of the game Boyd fumbled and had it returned 48 yards for the TD. This was the beginning of a very long afternoon for Boyd as he ended up with 5 turnovers……3 of which were returned for scores. With a little under a minute to go in the 1st half the Tigers began a drive to try and pull them within striking distance but a Boyd interception led to a halftime score of 28-7. The Terrapins never let up from there as it seemed like whenever the Tigers would draw close Maryland would be there to answer. The final score was 55-39 and Clemson dropped back to back games for the first time in almost 2 seasons. Maryland picks up the victory and the ACC Atlantic race ends up even crazier with Clemson, FSU, and Maryland all vying for the division lead. The Tigers get Virginia next week in a game they must win to keep their BCS hopes alive.

Clemson Game Stats
Passing
Tahj Boyd 20-31 318yds TD, 2INTs

Rushing
R. McDowell 12 att, 49yds 3TDs
T.Boyd 15 att, 43yds TD, 3 Fumbles

How about them Utes?! For the first time since joining the Pac-12 the Utah Utes find themselves ranked in the top 10 after picking up a victory over #24 USC last week. Coming in with one of the best defense in the Pac-12 keep an eye out for the Utes this season.

One of the most underrated teams in America is none other than the Bulldogs of Fresno State. Derek Carr is one of the best quarterbacks in all of college football and has led his team to a surprise 7-1 start. Big hopes for these guys this year.

A big SEC matchup this week was the top 20 matchup between Texas A&M and Vanderbilt…..let’s just say it wasn’t much of a game. Johnny Manziel ran circles around the Commodores defense as Vandy was handed their third loss of the season.

After starting the season 1-2 doubts started to sprout through the media about the talent of the South Carolina. But Steve Spurrier has turned the ship around and the Gamecocks are sitting on a 5 game win streak. The 9th ranked Gamecocks offense during this streak is averaging over 39 PPG and host #13 Mississippi State next week.

TOP 10
1. Alabama
2. Oklahoma
3. Washington
4. Auburn
5. Florida
6. Ohio State
7. Florida State
8. Kansas State
9. South Carolina
10. Utah

#7 Florida State hosted Miami this weekend and their plan to build on some momentum went completely down the drain. The Seminoles were blown out 3-34 in a game where they had no chance from the beginning.

In the SEC two big games headlined Saturday’s games. Georgia picks up another win this time against Florida and South Carolina stays on track with a narrow victory over Mississippi State 17-13.

The Sooners are undefeated no more as the Bears of Baylor outscored Okolohma 21-7 in the fourth quarter to pick up the 38-24 win. This marks a big win for Baylor as they improve to 6-2 on the year.

Michigan who came into the year with a lot of preseason hype has picked up their second straight loss this week against the Nebraska. Just last week they suffered a similar result against in-state rival Michigan State. Where does the Wolverine’s season go from here?

Two teams fall from the top 10 this year. Louisville disappoints once against UConn……..and the Utes gets absolutely manhandled by the Sun Devils in a very lopsided game. So much for all the hype for the Utes I had a couple weeks ago.

2. Washington
3. Auburn
4. Ohio State
5. Kansas State
6. South Carolina
