Defense Pulls A No Show In Loss To Dolphins


The Dolphins injured every Brown QB except Hoyer

After an impressive preseason, the Browns confidence was sky high coming into their game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. But the Dolphins knocked the Browns and their fans back down to earth. The Browns let Ryan Tannehill light them up for 361 yards and 3 touchdowns in the 34-27 loss.

The Browns offense kept them in the game but the defense could never get the stop that the team needed. Starter jason Campbell had a nice showing before getting knocked out the game with a strained shoulder. Campbell went 11-26 for 153 yards and 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Wildcat QB Pat White tore cartilage in his knee on an option play late in the 1st quarter.Backup Brian Hoyer stepped in and threw for 205 yards and 1 touchdown.

Running back Trent Richardson had an impressive day running the ball. the former #3 overall pick led all rushers with 118 yards and 1 touchdown on 25 carries. With top receiver Josh Gordon being suspended, TE Jordan Cameron was the go to target for his quarterbacks and he did not disappoint. Cameron caught 11 passes for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns in the loosing effort.

Browns Waive Weeden

Today the Cleveland Browns announced that they have waived quarterback Brandon Weeden. Weeden, the 22nd overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, was sent home from the them during the preseason as they tried to trade him.

The 29 year old stay in Cleveland ends after one season with the team. Weeden played in 15 games for the Browns and finished with 3,385 yards passing, 14 touchdown, 17 interceptions, and a QBR of 27.0. The new regime in Cleveland were never high on Weeden and his release was going to come either sooner or later.

The Browns took a 3 million cap hit with the release.

Browns Come Up Short Against Ravens


TE Jordan Cameron had another 2 touchdown performance/Davone Bess fumble led to a Ravens touchdown

If the Cleveland Browns knew how to close out games they would be 2-0 right now instead of 0-2. The Brown fell to division rivals the Baltimore Ravens 31-28 on Sunday. The Browns held Joe Flacco to 124 yards on 10-21 passing and 3 interceptions (One was returned for a touchdown by Joe Haden) but it wasn't enough to overcome the Ravens.

Backup Bernard Pierce, who started in place of the injured Ray Rice, gashed the Browns defense for 115 yards on 22 carries and 1 touchdown. "I know our run defense is better this this, said DT Phil Taylor. We'll figure it out and when we do the league better watch out."

TE Jordan Cameron continued his impressive start to the season catching 9 balls for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns. "Yeah the stats are nice but I'm more concerned about getting a W the next game." said Caameron in his post game interview. Trent Richardson led the team with 82 yards rushing and 1 touchdown. Jason Campbell had another decent outing for the browns going 23-35 for 255 yards with 2 touchdowns and one interception.
