Cardinals Take Down Rams 23-9 In Season Opener

Every team wants to win their first game of the season, especially when its a divisional matchup. The Arizona Cardinals went into St. Louis Rams and left with a 29-3 win in their week 1 matchup. The Cardinals only managed to get 299 total yards but it was enough to get them the win.Newest Cardinal, QB Carson Palmer had a mediocre game, finishing 17-33 for 175 yards an 1 interception.

Scoring in the 1st quarter consisted of field goals by the teams two kickers. Jay Feely connected on a 37 and 35 yarders to put the Cardinals up 6-0 early in the 1st. Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein drilled a 51 yarder to put the Rams onthe scoreboard. The cardinals got their first touchdown of the season on a 1 yard run by new running back Rashard Mendenhall to put the Cards up 13-3 heading in halftime.

Zuerlein tried to keep his team in the game hitting a 50 and 49 yard field in the 3rd to pull the Rams within 4 points going into the 4th and final quarter. Backup back Ryan Williams answered the gield goals with 2 yard scamer to put the Cardinals up 20-6 with a little over 10 minutes left in the game. Sam Bradford was able to lead the Rams down the field on their next two possessions but both drives ended with Bradford being sacked by John Abraham and Sam Acho. A 50 yard field goal was the icing on the cake as the Cards went on to get the 23-9 victory.
