Game Notes
Kansas State has everything to prove in this game. Coming off a huge win against Texas, the pollsters still don't have any faith in the Hubert-led offense. Despite having one of the best defenses in the land, they find themselves behind one loss Oklahoma State. After dropping a very winnable one against West Virginia, Oklahoma State will have to bounce back against the Wildcats. They must right the ship before it sinks. Walsh will have to step up, and, fortunately, will not be facing a top passing defense. The Cowboys must minimize their turnovers and keep the passing game to a minimum in order to win. Kansas State, with a weak passing offense, will have to give the ball to potential Heisman John Hubert who'll be playing against a tough rushing defense. Both teams have plenty to prove, and Mike Gundy will be looking to avenge their 14 point loss last year.

Series Record: Oklahoma State LEADS 36-33
Prediction: Kansas State 34 - Oklahoma State 31

Re: Proud and Immortal - Oklahoma State Dynasty [NCAA 14]

Oklahoma State Falls to Kansas State in a High Scoring Shooout

A Kansas State defender intercepts a Clint Chelf pass to seal a victory.
STILLWATER, Oklahoma - Pathetic. There's truly no other way to describe it. Oklahoma State's defense is utterly atrocious. With their offense, Oklahoma State is a top team. No one can question that. Yet, here they are, scoring 48 points yet managing to lose another game. The secondary seems like they don't understand the first thing about coverage. At one point, a corner back merely stared as a ball sailed inches away from him. Safeties see no point in pursuing any receivers and are always happy to give them enough space to catch a ball. It's one of the toughest defenses to watch, as they play at practically a Pop Warner level. When Oklahoma State's defense takes the field, many change their channel. Knowing full well what's about to transpire. And, sure enough, when returning to the game, their opponent has scored.

The offense also took a serious blow in skill today. After his offensive line allowed a player through, J.W. Walsh was crushed and sent to the ground. Almost immediately, everyone knew what happened. Walsh could barely move and continued to stay put on the ground. Medical professionals rushed onto the field to help him. For three quarters, Walsh had been on an absolute tear. There wasn't much that Kansas State's defense could do to stop him. Oklahoma State fans are used to seeing Walsh being helped off the field. It happens once or twice a game. This time was different. Walsh was in obvious pain and went straight into the locker room. He did not return. After the game, Coach Mike Gundy revealed that Walsh had symptoms akin to a broken collarbone and likely would be done for the season. With Walsh likely done, Clint Chelf will have to step up. Not the most enticing prospect, especially with his pick at the end of the game.

There's not much to happy about in Stillwater. A season that started with promise is slowly turning into a disaster. Believed to be the favorites for the Big 12 title, they have managed to lose both of their conference games. Their defense can seemingly only get much, much worse. For the first time all year, the running attack worked against them. There was not much they could do to actually stop Hubert. Coupled with a great passing game, they looked nigh unstoppable. Oklahoma State's losses can heavily be blamed on the defense. Both losses were very winnable games especially this one. How exactly can a team score so much and gain so many yards yet still lose. It's enough to make a coach go crazy. Oklahoma State will have to head back to the drawing board soon, or the season will continue to be a disaster.

Clint Chelf will be tasked with finishing the season to replace an injured J.W. Walsh. All eyes are on the senior to lead Oklahoma State to a bowl game. At this point, a conference championship is not unlikely. They'll just have to hope Kansas State starts losing, and they start actually winning games. Fortunately, Chelf, while not nearly as mobile at Walsh, can get some things done with his legs. On the flip side, though, he has not be good coming in relief for Walsh. In almost every game, he has thrown an interception. His interception against Kansas State effectively killed a potential game winning drive. He'll have to start being good, or the Cowboys will be in for a very long season.

After dropping their second game, Oklahoma State will have a bye week before taking on the TCU Horned Frogs. Kansas State will head back home to take on the other team that beat Oklahoma State: West Virginia.

DeMarcus Robinson runs into the endzone untouched to give his Wildcats a late lead.

J.W. Walsh played fantastic for three quarters, until an injury ended both his game and season.

Game Notes
If there's any other game more important than the Oklahoma game for the Cowboys, this would have to be it. A loss here completely derails any chance at winning a conference title. TCU is looking to continue trucking along, as they find themselves ranked in the top five. With one loss on the season and a great passing attack, things aren't looking very hopeful for Mike Gundy's team. Especially with the injury to sophomore quarterback J.W. Walsh. The senior Clint Chelf, who's looked poor in the many times he's come in to relieve Walsh, will have to step up in order to upset TCU. It will likely be a different looking offense, as Chelf does not have the same speed as the sophomore. TCU will be looking to get revenge for the 36-14 beating they took last year.

Series Record: OK State LEADS 12-9-2
Prediction: TCU 45 - Oklahoma State 42

Re: Proud and Immortal - Oklahoma State Dynasty [NCAA 14]

Defense Stops Playing After Three, Oklahoma State Outguns TCU

No need for Walsh. Chelf proves he can do everything.
STILLWATER, Oklahoma - For the first time all season, Oklahoma State's secondary looked decent. That was until the fourth quarter when they completely collapsed. TCU, who had been held to just over 100 yards all game through the air, suddenly came alive. No longer were defenders covering their man. Instead, they watched as they caught the ball. In what was an all too familiar sight, TCU was marching down the field after a Chelf turnover who, despite putting up solid running numbers, managed to fumble the ball on a dive. As the Horned Frogs lined up for a fourth down after making it to the thirty, Boykin tossed the ball into the air. And guess what happened? No, it didn't bounce of every Oklahoma State secondary to ultimately end in a TCU touchdown. They actually swatted the ball out of the air to end the game.

Credit has to be given to Oklahoma State's defense. They were on an absolute tear. Obviously, when a team is down, they're prone to pass the ball a bit more. Fatigue had set in at this point, and it made for several mismatched. For the better part of the game, they looked fantastic. No one can blame them for slacking off a bit once they took a two score lead. TCU's hurry up offense likely didn't give them too much time to breathe in the late goings of the game. If Oklahoma State's defenses can consistently stay good, they may still have a shot at winning the conference. Though, they have to hope that Kansas State loses many more games. If that doesn't happen, then a BCS trip likely won't follow either.

Even without Walsh, Oklahoma State's offense didn't miss a step. In fact, Chelf seemed comfortable running the ball. Though many fans held their breaths when he went soaring through the air. Memories of J.W. laying on the ground grasping at his shoulder vivid in their minds. The crowd roared when Chelf stood up and threw the ball onto the ground. Teammates coming over to congratulate him. Many thought losing Walsh would eliminate their ability to scramble. Not at all. It seemed like Chelf did an even better job then Walsh did, as he managed to pick up three touchdowns on the ground. It could merely have been TCU underestimating him like many other experts had. He'll have to continue to prove himself through the season.

So far, Mike Gundy has done a fairly average job at recruiting. Only one person has committed to the team, but they are in the running to pick up a five star running back. With Jeremy Smith's tenure at Oklahoma State ending after this year, they will have to fill the void. It will not be an easy task replacing one of the best running backs since Barry Sanders to come through the school. The Cowboys have relied on him many times throughout the season to pick up pick gains, and he has yet to disappoint. With Chelf's arm still looking a bit iffy, he might see a few more snaps coming his way. He's managed to look good against tough defenses and will likely continue on the same trend.

After the huge upset against TCU, Oklahoma State will be heading to Ames to take on the Iowa State Cyclones. The memory of Iowa State effectively ending their national championship bid is still fresh on the mind of Cowboys fans everywhere. TCU will take on an inconsistent Texas Longhorns squad next week.

Patmon dives for an interception after a tipped pass in the endzone.

Despite Boykin's slow start, he throws for over 200 yards in the fourth to make the game close.
