Re: Clawing To The Top | Jaguars Franchise (M25)

Jaguars trade Eugene Monroe to Ravens for draft picks

We have another high-profile NFL trade.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed on a deal that will send left tackle Eugene Monroe to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for multiple draft picks, per a source informed of the transaction. The deal is pending a physical.

The Jaguars will receive the Ravens' third- and fourth-round 2014 draft picks in exchange for Monroe, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday, per a source involved in the deal.

ESPN first reported the deal.

Monroe has been one of the Jaguars' best players since being selected with the eighth overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He will be a free agent after this season.

Monroe's arrival in Baltimore should be seen as bad news for Bryant McKinnie, the veteran left tackle who has struggled this season following a strong run during the 2012 playoffs. Monroe has started 62 of 65 games for the Jaguars over the past five years, including all four games this season. Michael Oher is likely to remain on the right side, meaning it will be McKinnie who moves to the bench.

This is a move that makes sense for both sides. The rebuilding Jaguars acquire draft picks and open up the left tackle spot for Luke Joeckel, the No. 2 overall pick in April's draft. The Ravens, meanwhile, acquire a younger and more dependable blindside protector for Joe Flacco. Everybody wins.

Re: Clawing To The Top | Jaguars Franchise (M25)

Blackmon out with broken collarbone

An MRI revealed that Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon will miss the next 7 weeks with a broken collarbone. Blackmon sustained the injury early in the 2nd quarter against the Colts last Sunday.

The 2 year WR from Oklahoma State has only played in two games so far this season. He suffered a broken jaw week 1 against the Chiefs. On the season Blackmon has 9 catches for 163 yards. Cecil Shorts III will move up to the number one receiver while Blackmon is out.

Season 1
RAMS OUTLAST JAGUARS 29-11
COACH BRADLEY STILL IN SEARCH OF FIRST WIN

Week 5, 2013
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS 11
ST. LOUIS RAMS 29

Jeremy Ebert scored the Jags lone touchdown.

Jeff Fisher and his St. Louis Rams got their first win of the 2013 season and it was at the expense of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Behind the leg of kicker Greg Zuerlein, the Rams defeated the Jaguars 29-19. St. Louis scored two touchdowns and got 5 field goals from their kicker to improve to 1-4 and dropping the Jags to 0-5.

Sam Bradford didn't have eye popping stats finishing 14-of-32 for 250 yards and a touchdown. HB Daryl Richardson scored both of the Rams touchdowns. One was a 1-yard run and the other was a 50-yard screen pass from Sam Bradford.

The Jaguars had another abysmal day on offense. Blaine Gabbert only completed 16 out of 43 passes for 197 yards. Gabbert has played poorly all season and on has to wonder why Coach Gus Bradley hasn't benched Gabbert yet.

The Jaguars will now take on Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. With the way the Jaguars are playing, it could be the biggest blow out in NFL history.
