The Orange Tribe || A Fighting Illini Story

The Illinios Illini have struggled to put themselves on the map as of late, and new head coach Jengo Taneli looks to make that a top priority. It wont be easy, as they will have the powerhouse teams of Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Penn State as divisional rivals. Taneli is up for the task, and will have to pull a few tricks out of his bag if he wants to turn this team around. Experts pit the Fighting Illini to finish in dead last in the Big Ten this year, and with the 26th toughest schedule, it seems to be spot on.

"We've got 75 kids coming on to the team this spring. We obviously have our work cut out for us to be ready by the start of the season, but I'm confident in my coaching staff to put together the best possible team by the time Missouri rolls in to town."

2013 Team Information:
Head Coach: Jengo Taneli
Athletic Director: Roger Dickinson
Offensive Coordinator: Jeremy Huntley
Defensive Coordinator: Brian Hubbard
Special Teams Coordinator: Francis Brunner
Rival: Northwestern (54-47-5)
Offensive Captain: David Evans (RB)
Defensive Captain: Calvin Howard (CB)
Projected Conference Finish: 12th

Side note, I too am using Bowl Bound College Football so team rosters wont reflect their real life counterparts.

Thanks man! BBCF's ratings are a little different than say NCAA. There's very few players actually rated in the 90's, and most team's top players are mid to upper 80's.

Hopefully I can win a few games! Thanks for following!

Re: The Orange Tribe || A Fighting Illini Story

Week 1 Preview

@
Champaign, IL -
Jengo Taneli makes his head coaching debut this afternoon as the Illini take on the Tigers of Missouri in Champaign. There's a lot of questions that will be answered by the end of the game today, and one will be if they can compete this year. The roster that Taneli and his crew put together for opening day is sub-par at best, and they will have to put together a great strategy if they want to come out with a win today. David Evans will look to bring some senior leadership to the offensive side of the ball this year, and will carry the load as he is about the only bright spot of the offense.

Key Matchup: Blake Lloyd vs Illinois secondary
Blake Lloyd is looking to make his final season with the Tigers a big one, and what better opponent to start off his senior campaign than the Illinois Illini. Julian Johnson will have his hands full trying to cover Lloyd today, and the winner of this matchup may just decide the ball game.

Projected score: Missouri 31, Illinios 13

Re: The Orange Tribe || A Fighting Illini Story

Memorial Stadium, IL
In hopes of making his debut a good one, Jengo Taneli and the Illini were off on the wrong foot from the start. "We just couldn't get any offense going. It seemed like every play we called, the Tigers had a response. My hat goes off to them." It was true, the Illini offense looked abysmal at best. Pulling in five first downs and only 109 yards of offense, it's back to the drawing board for the coaching staff this week. "We have to figure things out quickly. Akron is coming to town, and with how we played last week, we have to shape up." Taneli stated at the press conference.

It doesn't help that a highly touted recruit was on campus this week for the Fighting Illini. OT Allen Davison made the trip to check out the campus this week, and rumors are he was highly disappointed by the beating Illinois took. The four star offensive tackle rates as the 42nd best tackle in the nation, and would be a huge asset to Taneli and his staff if he chose to come to Illinois next fall. "It's unfortunate that we took such a tough loss to one of our more talented recruits. We will have to bounce back and hopefully take a different approach."
