Ben Roethlisberger Trade
From: David @Steeler.NFL
To: Pittsburg Steelers Staff and Players
Subject: Future Plans

Hello to everyone, hope your all doing well.

I know that one way or another, you have all heard the news. Ben Roethlisberger was traded to the Rams. First and foremost, I want to establish that Coach Tomlin was completely against this trade. So much so that the words "Idiot" and "Suicide" were used in the moment. This risk has been taken completely by me. And as such, I promise you all that should I fail, and this trade be seen as a mistake, I will resign as GM and stay completely out of the football aspects of this organization. But I ask that you all trust me. To win that trust, I will tell you all my plan for the future as well as the reasons for this trade. If any of you give away this plan, it will the team to the extent that the playoffs would be a challenge. Of this I promise you. This draft is extremely important in our future and I want you all to know that I trust you with this information as we are all an organization.

Ben was a great person, we all know that. He was also a Hall of Fame QB. The reasons I traded him were that we found someone 2 QB's in this draft that will be better than Ben, as well as the Cap Hit that Ben would bring to this team his last 2 years. He would require a salary of $14M and then over $17M.

Now, the 2 QB's we found are JaQuay White and Aleon Reese. Reese is probably the greatest talent in this draft. His accuracy is already greater than Ben's. The problem is that he is slow to develop. White, on the other hand is basically like a sponge. His throwing ability is a level below Reese but I believe that can be made up for with his feet and ability to learn. These players will eventually be HOF players, and so we will draft both. Who ever has the most potential will stay while the other will be traded for Draft picks.

Now, Reese will be available in the third round, so the picks from the Rams will allow us to grab White. This means that basically we traded Ben for a second Andrew Luck-level QB, while trading our first pick for next year and a 5th of this year for a top 10 pick this year. This trade, in my opinion will give us our greatest shot at creating a dynasty.
Thank you,
David M

2014 NFL Draft
Day 1

Before Draft Trades

Hello and welcome to the 2013 NFL Draft. I'm from ESPN News and I will be here to provide commentary here on Day 1. Before we start folks, I wish to announce a few last minute trades that materialized right before the deadline. Interesting, they both include the Rams.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced that they will trade the 1st overall pick, the one they received in what is now known as the Big Ben Trade, to the Oakland Raiders along with the 222 overall pick. In exchange, they received 3 very high draft picks. The first is the fourth overall pick in this same draft, while the second is the 36th overall pick in this draft as well. The 3rd pick is the 2nd round pick the Raiders have for next years draft.
