Yes, I kept the schedule true to form for this season and will be moving ODU into one of those two conferences next season. Haven't quite decided if I'm going to follow the actual conference realignment or not, so we will see.

The rush defense really let the team down today, allowing Maryland to rumble for 289 yards on 46 carries, good for 6+ yards per tote. The Brown Boys, C.J. and Wes, carried the workload today for the Terrapins, who are now 2-0 on the young season.

Junior quarterback Taylor Heinicke threw for 345 yards, thanks to two bomb touchdowns of 66 and 79 yards. The 79-yard TD came on the 3rd offensive play of the game for Old Dominion has Heinicke hit Marquel Thomas down the left sideline. Once in the end zone, MT decided to stare down the entire Terrapin student section.



After getting the ball to start the second half, the Monarchs were driving down the field, trailing by just eight points, until the lone turnover of the game bit Taylor Heinicke in the backside.



On a scramble that netted ODU a first down, the star quarterback put the bean on the green after getting hit. He admitted after the game that it was a huge turnover at that point and he should start sliding much more often.

Maryland would continue to pound the rock, scoring even as the clock was running out. Coach Bobby Wilder refuted the media's claims of Maryland running up the score, saying that they were just running their offense and we couldn't stop them, so it is on us for allowing that many points.

HB Colby Goodwyn would not be denied at the goal line, scoring the first rushing TD for the Monarchs on the season.


Jump ball! Marquel Thomas outjumps the DB for a huge gain, setting up ODU's second score of the game.


Up by three, third and goal on the five yard line and the defense has their backs against the wall with the game on the line...and John Darr makes his biggest tackle of the season! He stuffs the HB just short of the endzone, forcing a game-tying FG to allow the Monarchs a chance to win in overtime.


After allowing a field goal to start overtime, Taylor Heinicke decided to take the game into his own hands. After being sacked ten times on the game, he had his wheels ready to roll and trotted into the endzone for the win! As you can see, the fans went bonkers!
