Re: The Longest Yard, A Tennessee Titans Dynasty (Madden 13)

Just curious if I have any followers yet? I plan on running this dynasty for a couple of seasons and I do have a Hauppauge so I can add more detail if needed.

Respect the Chargers Big Play Ability (EG- Deep Threats)

Extra man to cover Antonio Gates, he is a playmaker and a big play threat.

Rivers is easily rattled and thrown off his game. Score early and put pressure on him.

BIRONAS FIELD GOAL HELP TITANS SURVIVE SHOOTOUT WITH CHARGERS
By Associated Press - 2013

Rob Bironas nails a game winning Field Goal from 49 yards out.

The Tennessee Titans improved to 2-0 after narrowly defeating the San Diego Chargers in what became a shootout in the second half. After Tennessee led 17-10 at halftime, the teams combined for 7 more touchdowns in the 2nd half as the offense opened up.

San Diego ran the ball heavily in the first half, giving the ball to Mathews on 16 attempts. Mathews gained 71 of his 190 yards on the ground after breaking two tackles on a delayed run, before sprinting into the End Zone for the first score of the game. On the other side of the ball, Tennessee used a duel running back system, giving the ball to both Johnson and Washington. The Titans eventually tied the game on a 1 yard run by Washington to end the 1st Quarter.

After forcing San Diego to punt, the Titans had used their running game and were once again threatening in Charger territory. The momentum is stopped however, after Chris Johnson fumbles the ball on a bad exchange and San Diego recovered. It would be Johnson's first fumble in 40 attempts. Fortunately, despite favorable field position the Chargers only manage a FG.

With 3 minutes left in the 2nd Quarter and after Washington burst for a 30 yard rushing TD, Rivers tried to go deep on 2nd and 5 to Floyd but it was CB Jason McCourty who ends up coming down with the jump ball. The Titans control the clock with the running game, but Fitzpatrick also makes a completion to Britt on a huge 3rd down to keep the drive alive. With just 4 seconds left, McFadden calls a time out and Bironas nails a 39 yard Field Goal to give the Titans a 17-10 lead going into half time.

The Titan's having won the opening coin toss, had deferred receiving to the 2nd half. On the second play of the drive, Johnson busts through on an outside run and breaks free from a T'eo tackle and takes the ball 73 yards down the sideline for the touchdown.

Down by 14, the Chargers give up on their running game and start throwing. Rivers gets Gates going, hitting him with a 30 yard pass. Gates would end the game with 5 receptions and 117 yards. The drive concludes with a 4 yard TD pass to Floyd on a slant route.

Fitzpatrick's throwing game starts to dissolve in the second half. On the Titan's next possession, he threw his first of 4 interceptions trying to force a pass to Kenny Britt. Off the turnover, it didn't take Rivers long to capitalize, hitting his main target Antonio Gates with a 54 yard pass to tie the game 24-24.

The Titans quickly respond with just 4:00 left in the 3rd, when on 3rd and 12 Fitzpatrick audibles TE Walker into a seam route after recognizing a blitz. He quickly got the pass off and hit Walker in stride, with only the Safety overtop that can catch him, Walker sprints 77 yards into the End Zone, once again giving the Titans the lead.

The Chargers come back and score on a 2 yard run by Woodhead. After going 3 and out on the next drive, Kern's punt is returned by Royale, who gets a block and finds a hole. Once past the diving punter, Royale is unchallenged on his way into the End Zone. After the 54 yard punt return the Chargers lead for the first time since the opening quarter 38-31.

The Titan's next drive saw an important 3rd and 8 converted after Johnson busts for a 34 yard run before being hauled down by the safety. The drive ends with a TD pass from Fitzpatrick to Thompson on an out route tying the game at 38.

With 2:21 left in the game Rivers is given the ball back to try for a game winning drive. He gets several 1st downs, putting his team in Field Goal territory with 1:20 left. On 2nd and 7, Mathews loses the ball after a big hit by Brown and the ball is recovered by Tennessee.

After the huge play by the defense, Fitzpatrick tries to get his team in Field Goal territory but first hitting Riley Cooper with a big 22 yard gain, then hitting Walker with a 15 yard strike. With time running down Johnson got stuffed on two running attempts, forcing McFadden to call a time out with 4 seconds left, putting the game in his kickers hands. Bironas steps up and nails a 49 yard Field Goal as time expires giving the Titans the win and McFadden his first road win.

SHOCKEY HANGS UP HIS CLEATS
By Associated Press - 2013

Jeremy Shockey has won 2 Superbowls with the Giants and Saints.

Jeremy Shockey has announced his retirement after being released by the New England Patriot's at the end of the preseason. After three weeks waiting for new offers, the prolific Tight End has decided to retire after a 10 year career.

Shockey was drafted 14th overall by the New York Giants in the 2002 draft out of the University of Miami. He spent 6 years with the Giants and won a Superbowl with the team at Superbowl XLII. Shockey was then traded in 2008 to the New Orleans Saints and played 3 years there, winning his 2nd Superbowl in Superbowl XLIV. Shockey played for one year in 2011 with the Carolina Panthers before being released at the end of the season.

Shockey attempted a comeback by signing with the New England Patriot's prior to preseason, but his poor play has led the team to cut him. Shockey finishes his career with 547 Receptions for 6,143 Yards and 37 Touchdowns in 136 games.
