Re: Duke Blue Devils: "Rags to Riches" (NCAA '14)
One game at a time Duke wins first game for Fournier
Anthony Boone drops back for a pass. Coach William Fournier Jr. wins his first game as a coach with a 49-3 victory over Eastern Michigan. This marks the beginning of a journey and the legacy left behind for him by his father, William Fournier Sr., who was a legendary coach at Lehigh for 35 years before retiring at age 73. [float The Blue Devils mopped the floor with the Eagles as Junior Anthony Boone threw for over 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns along with Josh Snead and Jela Duncan, who rushed for 75 yards and 47 yards respectively for three touchdowns all-together. Nick Hill grabbed a 44 yard pass from Anthony Boone right at the end of the first half to give Duke a 25 point lead going into halftime for an even bigger lead. Duke would make a big stop late in the 4th with a forced fumble by Dezmond Johnson at the goal-line to keep the Eagles from scoring double-digits. It was the first time people got to see Fournier's Pro offense opposed to the Spread offense that Duke had ran for so long. "The real challenge is getting our offensive line to adapt to both pass and run blocking", commented Fournier in his post-game interview. "Coming nto this season, I was very confident in [Anthony] Boone as a decision-making quarterback. Despite an interception early in the game, it's apparent that he knows what to do with the football at any given moment, which will be very helpful come later in the season." Boone boomed from the start, completing over 50% of his passes and throwing for two touchdowns. Boone also scrambled out and ran one in from 7 yards out, demonstrating his ability to escape pressure and decision-making. Duke now prepares to open up conference play next week as they play host to Georgia Tech, who's stout Option offense lifted them to a 31-0 victory over the Elon Phoenix.

Re: Duke Blue Devils: "Rags to Riches" (NCAA '14)
Semester's first test Duke makes late stop to secure win over Georgia Tech
Jela Duncan would leave the game with a fractured elbow. Josh Snead ran for three touchdowns, including a 5 yard run with just 3 minutes remaining to push the Duke (2-0) ahead for a win. However, the Blue Devils will be without Jela Duncan for three weeks. Despite throwing for 232 yards, Junior Anthony Boone couldn't find the endzone as he threw for 0 touchdowns and ended up throwing two costly interceptions early in the game. Jela Duncan went for 80 yards on the ground on 13 carries before he left late in the 3rd quarter with a sprained elbow, he's expect to miss 3-4 weeks. "I think [Anthony] Boone was still thinking about his performance last week, which caused him to not play well," commented Coach Fournier. "The interception on the first drive of the game rattled him a bit. It seems like he second-guesses himself after one mistake." The Blue Devils entered halftime down 14-7, a very manageable deficit, with their defense halfway ripped apart by the Option offense of Georgia Tech. With the help of Kyler Brown and Justin Foxx, the Blue Devils were able to stop Vad Lee and the Yellow Jackets on the opening possesion of the second half, giving their offense an opprotunity to take the lead. Anthony Boone and Jela Duncan marched down to the Georgia Tech 15 yard line before Duncan would leave the game for good. Josh Snead took his place and got Duke down to the 5 yard line. A bad call by Boone led to Duke being forced to kick a 23 yard field goal to take a 17-14 lead. First play for Georgia Tech on their next possesion, a misread by the Duke defense led to a 78 yard touchdown run by Vad Lee himself, giving Georgia Tech the lead back with a little over 7 minutes remaining. Duke would get the ball back at their own 25 yard line, looking to score a touchdown in order to win. Boone would lead the Blue Devils down to their opponent's 20 yard line, while Josh Snead moved the ball with ease. The Blue Devils just tried to kill clock before Snead would run from 5 yards out to retake the lead 24-21 with 3 minutes remaining. The Blue Devils' defense would hold Georgia Tech with a sack by Justin Foxx on 4th & 11 on the Duke 40 to seal a victory. The Blue Devils continue their conference schedule against ACC newbie Pittsburgh (0-2) at home. Runningback Jela Duncan is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with a fractured elbow. He will miss next weeks' game against Pittsburgh and the road opener against #24 Northern Illinois. He will also most likely miss the road game against #5 Notre Dame.

Re: Duke Blue Devils: "Rags to Riches" (NCAA '14)
Moving ahead Blue Devils rout Pittsburgh behind Boone's 3 touchdowns
Anthony Boone had a huge game with 282 yards and 2 TDs Anthony Boone threw for 282 yards and ran for one touchdown in a dismantling of Pittsburgh 56-3. This gives the Blue Devils a 3-0 start on the season. The junior should've had a better completion percentage. But do to weather conditions, the five incompletions he did have were all mere drops by the recievers, including a possible 55-yard touchdown pass early in the game. "[Anthony] Boone's performance was top-notch, along with Josh Snead's ground game," said Coach William Fournier. "He, again, demonstrated his ability to make good decisions when it comes down to a big play. Fortuantely, we were able to pull away in the second quarter." Pittsburgh moved the ball well throughout the game, behind Holtz' five reception which were all first downs. However, their inability to capitalize coming off big plays cost them, especially in Duke territory. The Blue Devils travel to Dekalb to face #18 Northern Illinois, who barely squeaked by Eastern Illinois 28-19. This is the first time the public will get to see how Anthony Boone plays on the road. "I think playing on the road for the first time may seem nerve-wrecking to these guys, especially in an environment like Huskie Stadium," commented Fournier. "Along with it being a different enviornment, we're going to have to rally Snead due to [Jela}] Duncan's injury and work with Boone's arm."

Re: Duke Blue Devils: "Rags to Riches" (NCAA '14)
Duke SS Brandon Baxter dismissed from team Baxter dismissed for violating team rules Duke senior strong safety Brandon baxter was dismissed from the team earlier this afternoon for violation of team rules. Baxter was reported to have stolen numerous property from the university, including textbooks, electronics, and more. Shortly after the news broke, Coach William Fournier made no hesitation and dismissed the senior at practice. "We have no room for that kind of behavior on this team," stated Fournier in a post-practice interview. "He violated team rules, he suffers the consequences regardless of his or others opinion on it. We are a behaved team, and we're staying that way." Baxter was a potential upcoming draft pick following the season, projected to go first or second round. It's too early to predict whether this will effect his draft stock, but most experts say it will have a medium to high impact. Thomas Sowell will replace Baxter at the strong safety position. Sowell, a 5th year senior, hasn't gotten much playing time due to injuries over the past few years. |

Re: Duke Blue Devils: "Rags to Riches" (NCAA '14)
Solid win for Fournier Jr Duke scores 31 unanswered to shock NIU on the road
The road proved to be no challenge for the Blue Devils as they score 31 unanswered to upset #18 Northern Illinois 45-28. Duke started out well, by scoring on their first possesion of the game to go ahead 7-0. They would get the ball back later with a chance to go up by two scores on the road, however back-to-back interceptions by Anthony Boone, one returned for a touchdown, cost Duke the lead. "The road is always a hostile enviornment for any quarterback," said Coach William Fournier after the game. "You can't always say that you'll play good on the road, and today we didn't do that, no matter what the stats or final score say." Going into the second quarter, the Blue Devils would give up a field goal to make the score 17-7, the largest deficit faced by Duke this entire season. Anthony Boone would answer back with a 7 yard touchdown run to cut the lead to a field goal. Duke would regain possesion with 28 seconds before halftime, enough time to get downfield a kick a game-tying field goal. After two big pass plays to get the Blue Devils down inside the goalline, confusion from the sideline led to a blown play that cost Duke a score before halftime as they ended the half down three. "We thought we would have time for one more quick pass," answered Fournier when asked about the situation at halftime. The short deficit would be quickly lost however, as an option play by NIU from the second play from scrimmage in the third quarter led to a 72 yard touchdown run by Juwan Brescacin, putting the Huskies up 24-14. Just about all hope was lost for Blue Devils fans, as those who attended the game got up to leave following the NIU touchdown. "Never lose hope, in any circumstance. Those who lose hope tend to lose life," stated Fournier. Duke would march downfield to score off a 1 yard run by Josh Snead, followed by a 21 yard field goal at the end to tie the game at 24 entering the fourth. Niu quickly went three-and-out and the Blue Devils got the ball on their own 45 with 7 minutes left remaining. Boone threw the ball successfully as Duke marched down to the 15 yard line, looking to take their first lead since the first quarter. Juwan Thompson finally ran in it from 4 yards out to take a 31-24 lead with 3 minutes left tog go. On the ensuing possesion for NIU, looking to tie the game up. Jordan Lynch would fumble on an option play and Duke would recover, giving them the ball on the NIU 20 yard line. Duke would score twice more to put the game away, scoring 31 unasnwered points the win in their first real test of the season. "I'm proud of our players whether they win or lose, whether they make mistakes or not, because that's the formula for success," Fournier stated at the end of his post-game interview. Duke now breaks into the Top 25 at the #25 spot as they travel to South Bend in a nationally broadcast game to take on #8 Notre Dame, who faltered against Oklahoma 41-17 at home.

Re: Duke Blue Devils: "Rags to Riches" (NCAA '14)
The style of everything you do looks really interesting. Looks very similar to my style, haha. The vids are good too. I'm doing a dynasty w/ Tulane; maybe Duke & Tulane will be ACC rivals one day, haha.
Good luck with Duke. I always considered doing a dynasty with one of the Tobacco Road schools, but my personal favorite is Wake Forest (thought it'd be the hardest, lol). Looking forward to seeing if Duke Football can match the dominance of Duke Basketball. And try to stick with the Academic recruiting!
