McCombs returns and rushes all over Cougars

Lyle McCombs made his return to UConn after last season's season-ending collarbone injury and looked just like he did when he went out injured as he rushed for 155 yards and 2 TDs to lead the Huskies to a season opening 24-14 win over the BYU Cougars. UConn will next play Boise State on Sept.13 at The Rent.

"It was a good start to the season, I noticed something we're going to need to work on prior to our game against Boise State but I think we have a promising year ahead" said Coach Gruden in the post-game interview

UConn bucks the Boise State Broncos

UConn was able to throw its way to a win as Chandler Whitmer collected 2 TDs on over 200+ yards thrown against Boise State. His only blunder would be an interception with 3 seconds to go in the game. On the ground game, Lyle McCombs was able to rush for a TD and another one hundred plus yard game.

On the defensive end of the ball, UConn was able to sack Boise State QB:Grant Hedrick three times[two of those from Elijah 'EJ' Norris who now has 5 sacks on the year.] as well as pick the QB off twice leading the Huskies to a 27-10 win.

UConn's next game will be at Virginia Tech on September 27th at 7pm
