Yeah I didn't expect that either, especially considering how bad we had played the week before. I was sure they were gonna get it when McCarron pulled Bama within 3 at the start of the second half.. but at least I ended our QB controversy.

But I've played Bama so much in OD's and such that I almost have a plan as to how to beat them. Where to stop them, their weaknesses etc.

Mississippi State tomorrow. Sorry I couldn't play it today, we had a last second showing on my house that required me to be out most of the morning and early afternoon.

I'm thinking I'll be able to finish the season by next week, and get into year 2 shortly thereafter.

DUPREE HONORED AFTER BREAKING SCHOOL RECORDS

Bud Dupree sacks South Carolina's Connor Shaw.

Junior star defensive end Alvin Dupree has smashed the UK record books in his junior season at Kentucky. Dupree had already broken the single season sack record just 5 games into the season, but now he has a career record he holds as well.

In last Saturday's stunning upset of then #1 Alabama, Dupree broke the school's all time sacks record, previously held by Oliver Bennett, who had 26 back in the late 80's. Dupree now has 28 sacks and a chance to greatly widen his lead, as he still has another year of eligibility left after this season.

ANOTHER HOME GAME, ANOTHER HEART BREAKING LOSS

Mississippi State quarterback Tyler Russell airs out to pound in a rushing touchdown.

After the last game for Kentucky, dominating Alabama, you almost had to assume that their game against Mississippi State would be a blowout. Right?

It was even early on, as the Bulldogs, led by sophomore Josh Robinson and senior LaDarius Perkins, who had 120 yards on the day, ran over UK's front 7 and Patrick Towles threw all over MSU's secondary. Tied at 14 through 1 quarter of play. MSU scored again, and forced a Patrick Towles INT. LaDarius Perkins scored on the next drive, but they missed the PAT. 27-14. UK's Cody Quinn got an interception off MSU's Tyler Russell, and the offense capitalized, 27-21 at half.

Cody Quinn was the star on defense, with 2 interceptions.

The 3rd quarter was filled with 3 and outs, but UK did take the lead 28-27 heading into the 4th.

After forcing another punt by MSU, Towles was instructed to run clock. But UK was stopped yet again, giving MSU another shot. MSU scored, but failed on the 2 point try, 33-28 Bulldogs.

Towles had 2 minutes to fix what he had broken. And he did a marvelous job, getting UK inside 10 before Towles got hit and forced an interception to Bulldogs corner Justin Cox, sealing the game. The final would be 33-28 and UK now stands at 3-4 on the season.

Justin Cox's interception thwarted UK's 2 minute drill.

UK coach Mark Stoops after the game:
Quote:
We let that one get away. We need to do a better job next time. Everyone played a good game, they [Mississippi State] just played a better game. They are a good team. We will be back next week.
Mississippi coach Dan Mullen:
Quote:
We got lucky. We really got beat in that second half They are a great team, both teams should be proud of themselves.
UK stays at home to play Texas A&M next Saturday.

Tough loss against Miss St. Are you pretty happy with Towles or just buying time until you can recruit a new QB?

Towles looks good for the rest of the season. But next year could be a toss-up, as Reese Phillips becomes eligible as a redshirt freshman, and he will get a long look if he can show accuracy and cut down on the INT's that have plagued us this year. Could go deep into fall practice.

I'm also recruiting a kid right now who could be a gem. Name is Dylan Medlock, 3 star recruit who I believe is a 70 overall. I find him eerily similar to Towles, but with a little more speed. Looks like I have him locked up, so we'll see what I could do with him. I'll be shooting for a 4 or 5 star prospect in a year or two. So yeah, I am biding time for now.
