Rebuilding the Tennessee Volunteers (NCAA 14)
Introduction: How's it goin' guys?? This is my first dynasty series on Operation Sports since I just now got thread posting privileges O_o. I'm an absolute HUGE Vols fan of just about every sport and actively follow their recruiting, so I will be doing this dynasty on the rebuilding project of the Tennessee Volunteers and try to get them back to their powerhouse status of the 1990's, early 2000's or maybe as good as Alabama has been the past few years. If anyone is interested in seeing highlights of the games I will be more than happy to put them on Youtube since I have a Dazzle and can record games in pretty good quality :P . If you're interested just let me know! Anyway, hope you all enjoy!! Dynasty Info: Console: PS3 Quarters: 7 Minutes Difficulty: All-American (may bump up to Heisman) Rosters: Volstopfan14 (although I did edit Butch Jones' coaching level down to 17 from 38 which is where it was originally. That is the lowest of all SEC coaches) Sliders: Custom made Offensive Style: Tennessee's Pro Style, Hurry-up Spread offense Defensive Style: Attacking 4-3 Tennessee Announces 2013 Schedule: So, as you can tell, Tennessee has a VERY hard schedule ahead of them this year. Playing at Oregon and then at Florida the very next week will be BRUTAL. And playing South Carolina, Alabama, Missouri, and Auburn all back to back to back to back will be one of the toughest stretches for any team in college football. Tennessee Hires Butch Jones: The University of Tennessee announced on Dec. 7, 2012 the hiring of Butch Jones as the 24th head football coach of the Vols. Jones owns a 55-34 record (.618) in seven seasons as a head coach, and his teams have earned bowl appearances in five of his seven seasons as a head coach. Jones is 34-18 (.654) in conference play and both 44-2 when leading at halftime and 45-3 when leading after three quarters. Jones joined UT from the University of Cincinnati, where he finished with a 23-14 record (.657) in three seasons with the Bearcats. Jones was also the head coach for three years at Central Michigan (27-13, .675, from 2007-09). He has won at least eight games in five of his six years as a head coach, including three seasons of nine-plus wins in the last four years (2009, 2011, 2012). Jones also has won 10 or more games twice, finishing 11-2 at Central Michigan in 2009 and posting a 10-3 record and top 25 final national ranking with Cincinnati in 2011. Jones has also finished the season ranked in the top 25 in three of the last four seasons (2009 with Central Michigan and 2011 and 2012 at Cincinnati). Jones has won four conference championships in his seven seasons as a head coach, including the Big East title in 2011 and 2012 with Cincinnati and the 2007 and 2009 Mid-American Conference titles at Central Michigan. He earned Big East Conference Coach of the Year honors from the league after his 10-win season with the Bearcats in 2011 and earned the same honor from CBSSports.com in 2012, a year in which the 2012 Cincinnati squad captured its second consecutive bowl victory while also finishing with a top 25 ranking. The Bearcats finished the regular season 9-3 with a 5-2 record in the Big East to share the conference crown. Major Position Battles Heading Into Summer Camp: QB: This is the most questionable position for the Vols. Tyler Bray chose to entire the NFL Draft and not stick around for his Senior season. That leaves Tennessee with Junior QB Justin Worley as the only QB on Tennessee's roster to have any playing time. Along with Worley the other possible options for Tennessee is Redshirt Freshman Nathan Peterman and two true freshman... 3 Star Scrambling QB Josh Dobbs and 3 Star Pocket Passer Riley Ferguson. "All 4 will compete for the starting job as it is 100% up for grabs"- Butch Jones WR: Both Justin Hunter and Cordarrelle Patterson chose to enter the NFL draft instead of coming back for their Senior season. That currently leaves Tennessee with only 2 major WR's coming back with experience in Alton "Pig" Howard and Devrin Young. 4 star/5 star Freshman Marquez North is almost guaranteed a starting job. Redshirt Freshman Jason Croom, 3 star freshmen Josh Smith, 4 star Paul Harris, and 3 star/4 star Ryan Jenkins will also have an opportunity to get some playing time this year as there is little WR depth on the Vols roster. TE: The TE position is up for grabs with little to no depth at the position with Mychael Rivera graduating. Junior Brendan Downs will most likely be the starter, but JUCO TE Woody Quinn and Freshman A.J Branisel could also see potential playing time. CB: Justin Coleman is the only returning starter since Prentiss Waggner graduated. 3 star Freshman Cam Sutton is one of the most impressive newcomers and could very well earn that starting job opposite Justin Coleman. Other CB's that have a chance to get some playing time are JUCO CB Riyahd Jones, JaRon Toney, and Freshman Malik Foreman. Coleman is almost a for sure starter, but it's up in the air who will start opposite of him. August 2013: New Uniforms For the first time since the Halloween game of 2009, Tennessee will have a uniform that isn't their traditional Orange and White uniform. The "Smokey Gray" uniform was announced as a new alternative to the orange and white the Vols have always worn. Along with the new Smokey Gray uniforms come subtle changes to the normal uniforms. |

Re: Rebuilding the Tennessee Volunteers (NCAA 14)
Lookin' good.
Tennessee was the very first dynasty I ever did in NCAA. Way back on NCAA 11. Didn't last long, as I got fired after two years. Went 8-5 in year 1, then started 0-4 in year 2 (lost to UCLA, Ohio State, Florida and Georgia to start off), and finished 3-9. Wishing you much more success with them. August 2013: 2014 Schedule Announced
Once again, we have an incredibly hard schedule. We go on the road to Oklahoma and Georgia, then right after that we play Florida. Once again the month of October will be the toughest month in our schedule. Austin Peay Depth Chart Released |

Re: Rebuilding the Tennessee Volunteers (NCAA 14)
Austin Peay is no Match for Tennessee in Season Opener The Volunteers torched Austin Peay's defense to a tune of 63 points in the season opener in Neyland Stadium. Austin Peay got on the board first, but didn't get on it much at all afterwards. The Volunteers scoring was led by Rajion Neal who had 4 rushing TD's on the day. Justin Worley had 2 TD passes and an INT while passing for 256 yards. Junior TE Brendan Downs was the recipient of both of Worley's TD passes. Highly touted freshman Marquez North had 1 catch for 31 yards while Redshirt Freshman Jason Croom had 2 catches. Marlin Lane had the most rushing yards with 127 on 21 carries. The Vols defense took control of the game putting pressure on Andrew Spivey for most of the game even though it doesn't show much in the stat line. Daniel Hood and Daniel McCullers tied for having the most sacks with 1 a piece. While Dontavis Sapp had an interception and Geraldo Orta intercepted a pass and took it 32 yards to the checkerboards for a Tennessee touchdown. "It was a great win today, I'm really proud of these young men, but we still have a ways to go before we're at where we want to be," said Butch Jones in the post game press conference. I thought Justin did a good job, but he still has some improving to do. Rajion and Marlin ran the ball extremely well for us today. It's night and day how much they've improved over the off-season." "I think we need our QB's to distribute the ball a LOT more," said Jones. "We only had 5 players with at least 1 catch and 2 of the players were our running backs. We have some pretty good talent at the WR position and we need to make the best of it." "Our defense did extremely well. I'm very proud of how they played with intensity, they were really physical and really got after the ball today. If we can do this week in and week out I believe we'll be in really good shape going forward." said Jones speaking of his defense. "I'm extremely proud of Palardy," said Jones. "He struggled at points with extra points last year, but he made all 9 attempts today. He's really improved over the off-season and his confidence is through the roof." Next Saturday the Vols take on the Bobby Petrino led Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Neyland Stadium. Kick-off is at 3:00 local time. |

Re: Rebuilding the Tennessee Volunteers (NCAA 14)
Vols Top the Hilltoppers 45-16 The game started off rather slow. The score was 17-9 at halftime and then Junior WR Devrin Young kicked off the 2nd half with a bang. He returned the opening kick off 103 yards for a TD. Once that happened, all momentum swung in Tennessee's favor and they never looked back. The Vols would end up scoring 35 straight points from the end of the 2nd quarter to the start of the 4th. The scoring all started when Michael Palardy drilled a 35 yard field goal, soon WKU would answer with a 35 yard field goal of their own. But, as time expired in the first half Justin Worley hit Marquez North on a 9 yard slant route for a TD. North had a game high 120 receiving yards on 6 catches. The next Tennessee score would be another 9 yard touchdown pass from Worley to Croom. Croom had a game high 7 receptions and had 72 receiving yards. Then, the 3rd quarter started off with the Devrin Young 103 yard kick off return for a touchdown. Backup HB Marlin Lane then ran in to the checkerboards for a 7 yard TD later in the 3rd quarter. Then, the Vols took advantage of a Brandon Doughty interception to score once again. This time Justin Worley through a 8 yard strike to Jacob Carter for the TD. At this point it would be 38-9 Vols. Rajion Neal ran in a TD from the 1 yard line to make it 45-9 Tennessee. But, with 1:13 left in the game WKU would score again. The defense kept pressure on Brandon Doughty all game and this time it would show in the stat line. Tennessee would end up sacking him 6 times on the day. Senior DE Jacques Smith had 3 sacks, Redshirt Seniors DT Maurice Couch, DT Daniel McCullers, and DE Marlon Walls all had 1 sack each. Walk-on Michael Williams had the lone interception on Doughty in the 3rd quarter. The Vols also held the Hilltoppers to an astonishing -6 yards rushing. WKU's starting HB Antonio Andrews had 6 carries for 37 yards, but was injured 2 different times throughout the game causing WKU to not run the ball often at all. Because of the 6 sacks on Brandon Doughty he had -43 yards rushing on the day. WEEK 3 OPPONENT: Up next the Vols will face the #7 Oregon Ducks at Autzen Stadium. This will be one of, if not THE toughest game the Vols will play all year as they are 21 point underdogs heading into Saturday's matchup. Kickoff is at 12:00 local time.

Re: Rebuilding the Tennessee Volunteers (NCAA 14)
Oregon Stars To Miss Most of Season In Oregon's 45-21 Week 2 victory over Virginia, both starting QB Marcus Mariota and RB DeAnthony Thomas got injured and both will be out for most of the season. Mariota has a strained back and will miss the next 8 weeks, while DeAnthony Thomas suffered a partially torn ACL and will miss the next 9 weeks. Without 2 potential Heisman Trophy candidates this could really help the Tennessee Volunteers in this weeks upcoming matchup with the inexperienced Jake Rodrigues making his first start and also the inexperienced RB's Byron Marshall and former 5 star Thomas Tyner getting the majority of the carries for the Ducks.
