Re: Worst to First - Kansas City Chiefs (Madden25 CFM)

Chiefs win their first game 34-31

Kansas City already has half the wins of last season after a close win in Jacksonville.

The new sheriff in town, Alex Smith, proved to be the game manager that the organization wanted, with a 70+ completion percentage and 2 touchdowns, both the other new face on offense Anthony Fasano. But the most outstanding performance was the one of Jamal Charles, helping the team with 201 yards and 2 touchdowns, as the Jaguars couldn't find a way to stop him. Dexter McCluster also gained a lot of yards turning short passes into long gains.

Talking about the defense: yes, Jones-Drew did score 4 times on the ground, the they were all 1-yard runs. In fact, the ace of Jacksonville's offense was held to just 58 yards, forcing Henne to pass the ball more the he should have had. While some lucky long passes to Justin Blackmon helped him reach 300 yards, he wasn't that big of a factor and had white jerseys on his face all day and was sacked three times, first by Tyson Jackson and then two times by Dunta Robinson.

Chiefs Injury Report

Doctors talked about inside linebacker Akeem Jordan, who had to leave the field near the end of last game in Jacksonville. The injury is a broken collarbone and it will keep him out for at least 7 weeks. Jordan was supposed to be the second linebacker next to Derrick Johnson in Reid's 3-4 defense, and with him out it will be the time for James-Michael Johnson to step up. Johnson was a 4th round pick by the Cleveland Browns but only played one season there, before being released and signed by the Chiefs. He recorded 52 total tackles last year but he only played in 12 games because of a pre-season injury.

A less tragic loss is the one of outside linebacker Tavares Gooden, who will miss only one game because of a broken jaw.

Other big injuries in the rest of the league are:

Game Notes
In their second game of the season the Chiefs, at home, will face the Dallas Cowboys who are coming out a blowout loss to the New York Giants in Dallas where they only scored 3 points against 39. In that game, they only gained 29 yards running the ball and with their star runningback out, unless backup Lance Dumbar can play out of his mind, they are probably going to get similiar stats against Kansas City front seven. But this offensive line is really good at blocking for the run, so we'll see. Talking about the defense, although the secondary is way better than the one of the Jaguars, the front seven is just DeMarcus Ware, so Jamaal Charles could have another great performance against them.

Prediction: 33-29 Chiefs

Re: Worst to First - Kansas City Chiefs (Madden25 CFM)

Succop kick the Chiefs to victory, W38-35

The Chiefs engineered a perfect comeback against Dallas this week, coming back from being down 28-7 at halftime. During the first drive, it was all Jamaal Charles: there has been not even one pass attempt, and #25 marced his way in the endzone for about 70 yards. The Cowboys answered right back, giving the ball to Lance Dunbar multiple times, alternating with some passing plays, finishing with a wildcat run that tied the game. From there, Dallas took over, as some dropped passes kept the Chiefs away from converting 3rd downs, and in the middle of the second quarter they were back at the goal line, were an easy pass to fullback Tyler Clutts gave them the lead. Kansas City once again failed to reach the redzone, and, with just 0:46 remaining before halftime, Dallas scored again with a screen pass to Dunbar. The home team tried again to score some points, but cornerback Orlando Scandrick forced a fumble out of Ryan Swope hands, giving the Cowboys enough time to score again, this time with a pass to Dez Bryant, the main target all game.
Some of the fans started leaving the game, as it looked like a blowout was about to take place, but the Chiefs didn't give up. As Miles Austin caught the kickoff, red jerseys were all over him, forcing the ball loose and setting up the offense for an easy score with Charles. Lance Dunbar, who by the way had about 100 rushing yards in the first half, was held to about 10 yards in the second half, while the defensive line started to get to Tony Romo. Kansas City didn't abandon the running game, giving the ball to their star runningback as much as it was needed, concluding in the endzone with a read option of quarterback Alex Smith. The Chiefs will score again in the 4th quarter, finally tying the game 28-28.
While it looked like the Cowboys were about to be stopped again, Romo found Dez on a comeback route. Cornerback Brandon Flowers failed to deflect the ball and #88 ran all the way for a 42-yard score, giving the lead back to the cowboys. The Chiefs stayed calm, and started marching down the field, reaching again the goal line and scoring with a short pass to Dwayne Bowe, re-tying the game with just 1:21. Ball back to the Cowboys. And guess what? Romo throws an interception right into the hands of linebacker Derrick Johnson giving the ball to the opponents. Kansas City had to drive just a few yards before reaching field goal range for Ryan Succop who, despite the heavy rain, kicked the game winning 47-yard field goal, completing the comeback and giving the Chiefs their second win of the season!
