The Seattle Seahawks enter 2014 on one mission, to become the first back to back champions since the '03-'04 Patriots, and look to establish this decades NFL dynasty. They bring back almost all the pieces from their championship team last year, and being the youngest team in the league, those pieces only figure to get better. Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and Kam Chancellor are already the best in the game at their positions. How much better can Russell Wilson get? Can he take his place among the Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers hierarchy? These are questions that he will have to answer this year, as those 4 QB's and their respective teams will all be looking to knock the Seahawks off the top. Oh and don't forget about the team to the south lurking down in the bay. The 49ers of San Francisco still have a sour taste in their mouths of how last season ended, and will also be on a season long quest to take back what they feel is their's. It should be another outstanding year of football in the Emerald City.

The schedule makers sure have a sense of humor don't they? Being as it's the first preseason game, and the two teams play each other in week 3, it's hard to imagine either team showing too much of their hands in this one, but one can't help but think the Broncos will want to gain a little measure of confidence, and feel like they can at least occupy the same field as the Seahawks, as for the rest of the schedule, a clash with the Chicago Bears is sandwiched in between two games against former AFC West foes in the Chargers, and Raiders.

As with most teams who win the Superbowl, the main starters are pretty much all back from last year. Eric Winston has been brought in to fill the void left by Breno Giaciomini, while Derrick Coleman steps in for the retired Mike Robinson at Fullback. Jermaine Kearse, and Doug Baldwin should fill the spot left by Golden Tate, while rookies Paul Richardson, and Kevin Norwood fight to fill out the depth chart. On defense the Seahawks return all eleven starters from last season, and will have rookies and veterans duking it out to take their own places in the legion of boom.

Jets lose major stars in preseason opener
The New York Jets may have won their preseason tilt against the Colts, but it came at a costly price as they lost pro bowlers Sheldon Richardson, and Chris Johnson for the year to injury. Hopefully backups can step up for the Jets in their stead as they try to make a push for the post season, and perhaps to save coach Rex Ryan's job.
Re: Quest for a Dynasty: A Seattle Seahawks Franchise
Seattle starters shine in preseason win
The Seattle Seahawks first stringers showed on Friday night why the defending champs will still be the team to beat in the NFL this season. Russell Wilson was sharp connecting on a touchdown pass and running for a score as well, beast mode got going with some big time runs, and the defense put up a score as well as the starters stretched the lead out to 28-7 by midway thru the 2nd quarter before giving way to the backups and rookies. Some other standouts in this game were DT Tony McDaniel who had 2 sacks, and forced the fumble that led to Seattle's defensive touchdown, and rookie linebacker Brock Coyle, who is stepping into the spot vacated by Heath Farwell's season ending groin injury. Coyle led the team with 6 tackles on Friday night. The Seahawks now get a regular 7 day work week to prepare for their next game as the Chicago Bears will be visiting CenturyLink Field next Friday night.

San Francisco loses WR Crabtree for season
The San Francisco 49ers received some horrific news after their preseason tilt against the Denver Broncos. WR Michael Crabtree suffered a complete tear of his groin muscle, and will have to miss the entire 2014 regular season. This is a crushing blow for the Niners who are hoping to dethrone bitter rivals the Seattle Seahawks for NFL supremacy this season. Veterans Anquan Boldin, and Stevie Johnson will now have to do more, and the Niners will need players in reserve roles to step up for them if they hope to keep pace this year.
NFL Upholds Josh Gordon suspension
As many expected, the NFL has upheld the year long suspension of Josh Gordon for the entire 2014 regular season. The Browns were bracing for this reality, but Gordon was appealing hoping to get the ban reduced or even dropped. In the end the Browns will now rely on veteran Miles Austin, and free agent pickup Andrew Hawkins to try and carry them thru the season.
Re: Quest for a Dynasty: A Seattle Seahawks Franchise
Seahawks defense keeps Bears out of end zone to stay perfect in preseason
Seattle - The Seahawks defense impressed on Friday night, as they kept Chicago's high powered offense out of the end zone, and led the way to a 20-12 win. The Seahawks one bright spot on offense was Marshawn Lynch who got an extended look after missing the start of training camp with a hold out. Lynch cracked 100 yards on the night constantly gouging the Bears defense. The Seahawks now look to wrap up the preseason perfectly on Thursday night when they take on the Oakland Raiders at O.Co Coliseum.
