Re: Titaning Up - Tennessee Titans CFM

TITANS LOSE TWO STARTERS IN LOSS

Nashville, TN - Rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger and safety George Wilson both left Sunday's game against Washington with injuries.

Mettenberger will miss the next four to six weeks with a torn shoulder labrum. With the Titans already having lost starting quarterback Jake Locker, the injury to Mettenberger forces them to look for a new replacement. In the meantime, veteran QB Charlie Whitehurst will get his first NFL start since 2011 this Sunday as the Titans take on the Houston Texans.

Free agents Kyle Orton, Tyler Thigpen, Seneca Wallace, Dominique Davis, and Ricky Stanzi all have been invited to a tryout on Tuesday.

Wilson suffered a dislocated ankle on Sunday, and will be out six to eight weeks. Daimion Stafford will get his first career start on Sunday, but the Titans will look to sign another defensive back for depth.

Re: Titaning Up - Tennessee Titans CFM

TITANS SIGN CHARLES WOODSON

Dominique Davis Also Signed; Angerer, Pickett Released

Nashville, TN - Charles Woodson believed that, after being released from his longtime team, his career was over.

However, that wasn't the case, as the Tennessee Titans gave him a call Tuesday, offering him a one year deal due to the injury to starting safety George Wilson. Woodson accepted, and he will finally get one last opportunity to play in the NFL.

The Titans also brought in quarterback Dominique Davis on a one-year deal. Due to injuries to Jake Locker and Zach Mettenberger, the Titans needed an emergency quarterback to back up Charlie Whitehurst.

In order to make room for both of them, the Titans released linebacker Pat Angerer and defensive tackle Ryan Pickett. The front office has said that there is a chance one or both of them will be back once Locker and/or Mettenberger return from injury.

WHITEHURST TO START SUNDAY AT BALTIMORE

Locker Probable For Sunday, Will Be The Backup

Quarterback Charlie Whitehurst will get his second straight start this Sunday.

Nashville, TN - After a mind-blowing performance two weeks ago against the rival Houston Texans, Charlie Whitehurst will get another chance to prove he can be a successful starting quarterback in the NFL.

Head coach Ken Whisenhunt announced Friday that Whitehurst will start this Sunday's matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, regardless of whether or not Jake Locker is active for the game.

"We just feel that Charlie is the best option for us at quarterback at least for this week." Whisenhunt said in a press conference Friday.

Whitehurst threw for 335 yards and three touchdowns in the Titans win against Houston. It was his first start in over two years.

Jake Locker (groin) is officially listed as probable for Sunday's matchup. If healthy, Locker will likely be the backup quarterback.

WHITEHURST SHINES AGAIN AS TITANS BEAT RAVENS

Baltimore, MD - Charlie Whitehurst may have all but locked up the starting quarterback position with another solid performance.

The man formerly known as Clipboard Jesus survived two fumbles to throw for 319 yards and three touchdowns, as the Titans defeated the Ravens, 34-21.

Whitehurst went back and forth with Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco in a first half that included four lead changes. The second half belonged to the Titans, however, as the Ravens were effectively shut out in the final 30 minutes of play.

Re: Titaning Up - Tennessee Titans CFM

WHITEHURST NAMED FULL-TIME STARTER

Nashville, TN - The man who everybody once referred to as Clipboard Jesus is now putting the clipboard down in exchange for the Tennessee Titans starting quarterback position.

After two stellar performances, the Titans have name Whitehurst the starter going forward. Coach Ken Whisenhunt, who coached Whitehurst last season in San Diego, praised Whitehurst, claiming him to be the "best option going forward."

Jake Locker, who is listed as probable for this Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, will likely be the backup quarterback this week.
