Re: Cincinnati Bengals: We Don't Choke-- You Do

Colts destroy Bengals 42-22
Dalton throws 3 interceptions; has 10 on year

INDIANAPOLIS, INDI -- Today, Andrew Luck would lead his squad at home, against Dalton. It would be a big game, and an exciting one at the least. "We need to contain Andrew Luck like we did to Newton last week to win this."

The game started with a face mask on the defense, which gave the Bengals a free 15 yards. They marched upfield, getting themselves to the 13, but on 3rd and 2 a struggling Bernard couldn't get the 1st, and they were stopped to a FG.

Dalton can only muster 4 yards on this run play

The run game of the Colts couldn't be stopped. Play after play, this normally fantastic D-Line was slacking, and when the Colts got to the 16, they caught them off guard with a 16 yard passing TD.

After a swap of possession, the same thing the Bengals did on their first drive happened again. On a 3rd and 1, Bernard continued to struggle and the Bengals had to kick a FG. After getting the ball back, Dalton threw his 8th interception of the year in only his 6th game, and it was returned for a TD.

Dalton knew he needed to get a big play, so he threw a ball to the sideline to Green and it was caught for a 58 yard gain! The electrifying play gave the offense momentum. That same momentum carried them downfield to the end zone and they got a TD. They made a gutsy call and went for 2, and it looked like they had it but a failed block by the TE got Bernard tackled!

In the 3rd quarter, the Colts went 3 and out and then the Bengals drove downfield, as Dalton carried the team on his back. But at the 6, a very familiar thing happened, and it was only happening this week. A failed 3rd down conversion in the red zone. It led to another FG, and it was a rare occurrence for the Bengals. The Colts followed by starting out normal, but then Hilton caught a bomb from Luck for 62 yards that got them a TD! Hilton then caught a 2 pt conversion play, and Luck would definitely be throwing him some more balls as it was 22-15.

The Bengals threw the ball, and it was a familiar sight. Davis picked it off -- Dalton's 9th on the year -- and returned it for a TD! Right now, Mr. Dalton wasn't looking to worthy of that contract, down 29-15. That followed by a Bernard fumble, and this whole offense was collapsing. The Colts got a TD, and it was 36-15, and their chances were diminishing fast. When Dalton there his 10th pick 6 of the year, everyone knew it was over.

The Bengals prayed for a comeback, but Tyler Eifert fumbled and everyone was just playing terrible football. Dalton would attempt a comeback, but ultimately it failed, and the team lose 42-22.

Overall, Dalton ended up 27/48 with 2 TDs, 3 interceptions and 368 yards. Luck followed with a 13/16 outing, 137 yards, 3 TDs and 1 interception. The run game wasn't very good for both teams. Bernard had 20 rushes for 75 yards, while Bradshaw had 28 for 100. Hill had 7 for 50, and Richardson 8 for 67.

Leading the receiving game was Marvin Jones. 9 catches with 2 TDs and 154 yards was a huge game. Green also had 8 receptions for 108 yards, and Eifert had 6 oft 70. Hilton was also 4/82, and Nicks 3/31.

"It was just a tough loss. We didn't play well enough, and thats it."

Top Bengals receiver Green had a huge day, getting 100 yards

Damn.

Honestly, I could've come back if Dalton had made some passes. The thing that sucks is most of his interceptions should've never happened. Usually the receivers fault or the fact a stupid cornerback wants to dive, but nothing I can do. Just makes me cry when I see his stats lol.

I should have a game report tomorrow sometime. Possibly two. Don't worry though. In 2 games I play the Jags, then I play the Browns. All is good! Lol.

Jeremy Hill powers his way through the trenches on a day where he ran for 50 yards on 9 carries

Bengals crush Ravens 31-14
Move to 5-2

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- In Ohio, this weeks matchup wasn't about the Browns. It normally never is. It was about two division rivals-- the Ravens and Bengals-- face off. The Bengals beat them the first time, but coming off a bad loss, and a horrible outing from Dalton, their fortunes could turn? Right? "Andy needs to hit his passes today if we want to win this game."

The Bengals got the ball first, and hoped to make something happen. After driving to the 35 in 3 minutes, Dalton threw a pass he would later regret. It was intercepted by Smith and he took it all the way to make it 7-0.

The Bengals wouldn't let that stand. They drove down the field, and Bernard got a 2 yard rushing TD. The Ravens responded by driving to the 1, then Flacco made a mistake and threw it right in Leon Hall's hands! Intercepted and returned 10 yards! After driving to the 9, a huge sack set them back, and only allowed them a FG. Two huge Bengals sacks pushed the Ravens back to the 1, where they punted. A solid return by Bernard got them to the 35.

Dalton was great all day -- and here he throws a 7 yd TD

Dalton made his way to the 7, where Jones caught a TD pass to make it 17-7. But the Ravens weren't done yet. At the 26, Pitta made a diving grab in the back of the end zone to make it 17-14!

After a swap of possessions, the Bengals got the ball and drove down to the red zone, but got stopped to a FG. The Ravens just couldn't get going. Another 3 and out showed why the Bengals were dominating time of possession. Their drive ended up with a 52 yd FG from Nugent to keep the momentum going. A TD with a 2 point conversion made it 31-14 and pretty much secured the win with 3:22 left.

"Overall this whole team performed well. Marvin (Jones) was fantastic and Andy (Dalton) did what we needed him to do." What coach Lewis said was definitely true.

Bernard is unstoppable, as he has 897 rushing yards on the year

Re: Cincinnati Bengals: We Don't Choke-- You Do

NFL Week 8 Overview

NFC East

Redskins: 7-1
Eagles: 5-2
Giants: 4-3
Cowboys: 2-6

Quick Take: Definitely a shocker here. The Eagles at 5-2 lie in second place, but are still in position to take the WC spot and win the division. Their only losses are from the Colts and Giants. Foles has 1,434 yards, 11 TDs, 9 INTs, and Shady has 812 rushing yards. The real shocker though, is the Redskins. Their only loss coming from the Eagles, RG3 has been lights out, 8 TDs, 6 INTs, and 1419 passing yards. He has 111 rushing yards, while Morris has 715. The Giants on the other hand, have been playing without Eli... because they want to. Manning has 1008 yards while he played, while Nassib has 444. Down to the Cowboys, Murray has been hurt, and with Romo(has been out for year) out for 2 more weeks along with Murray, it doesn't look good.

NFC North:

Packers: 6-2
Lions: 6-2
Bears 5-3
Vikings: 4-4

Quick Take:
The Packers and Lions are at the top of this division, and its because of great passing performances. Rodgers has 1862 yards with 16 TDs and 8 INTs, while Stafford has 1953 yards with 9 TDs and 7 INTs. Jay Cutler hasn't been bad either, with 1801 yards, but he got injured and still has 1 week left, which could hurt the Bears. Despite a short term injury to Lacy, the Packers are hanging in there. For the Lions, Suh is out the whole year, and as Reggie Bush struggles its on Megatron (790 yds) and Stafford to keep them in it. The Vikings have been suffering injuries everywhere. Allen, AP, Griffen, Robison, and Kalil. All short term, but will hurt. AP has 843 rushing yards, and it looks like all these teams could be contenders, with the Vikings the only pretenders.

NFC South:

Falcons: 5-3
Buccaneers: 4-3
Panthers: 3-5
Saints: 2-4-1

Quick Take:
With the Saints and Panthers struggling, the division is open for the Falcons, and they're coming in to take it, or are they?. The Buccs somehow have themselves over .500, with Doug Martin's 656 yards leading the way, but broke his thumb and has 3 weeks left. But the main problem is QB. The Buccs don't have a stable one, Brees missed a game(backup played well), and Matt Ryan has 3 weeks left on the injury report. Plus, Newton's horrid play made his short term injury look like a gift for the Panthers, as he has 535 yards, 1 TD and 9 interceptions isn't gonna do it. Overall, it will be definitely fun to watch this situation pan out.

NFC West:

Seahawks: 5-2
49ers: 5-2
Rams: 1-6
Cardinals: 1-6

Quick Take:
Supposed to be the best division in football? Yeah right. The only real injuries to both struggling teams are Michael Brockers, who is out for the year, and Ellington who is now back. Meanwhile, Joe Staley has 8 weeks left before he plays, and the 49ers are still 5-2. Kaep has 1531 yards, 10 TDs, 5 ints, while the Seahakws have managed 2 games without Wilson. Lynch and Gore both have 700+ yards, while Stacy struggles with 507, and Ellington has been hurt most of the year, but is now back.

AFC East:

Patriots: 5-3
Dolphins: 4-3
Jets: 4-4
Bills 2-6

Quick Take:
The division has gone as expected. The Pats get a huge test going against the Broncos in week 9, but will likely take the division even with a loss, as the .500 Jets are to bad to make a run, and the same goes for the Dolphins. Short term injuries to Harrison (2) and Richardson (5) ruin the chance for the Jets, and no one can stay healthy for the Bills, as 7 players are hurt. Brady has been great, with 1792 yards, 10 TDs and 4 interceptions, and the 3 others have played below average.

AFC North:

Bengals: 5-2
Browns: 4-2-1
Steelers: 4-4
Ravens: 2-6

Quick Take:
The main shock here is the Browns. Despite losing Dansby and Bryant for a short amount of time (back in 3 weeks), they're still somehow 4-2-1. Johnny Football has been average at best with 1361 yards, 8 TDs, and 10 ints. Flacco and Big Ben have both been average, while Dalton has been a bit above average. The keys here are the rushing attacks. Bernard has been fantastic, while Bell (missed some time) has stunk, Blount hasn't done much better, and Tate and Rice play horrid too. Plus Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap combine for 21 sacks.

AFC South:

Colts: 4-4
Titans: 4-4
Jaguars: 3-5
Texans: 1-7

Quick Take:
This race will be fun to watch. Two .500 teams and a team right near .500. The Jaguars will likely luck out, though, as they play the Bengals next and will likely move to 3-6. The real question is, what will happen to Locker? He has missed a big amount of time, and Whitehurst has 8 TDs, 5 ints, and 1360 yards. he has been solid as a starter. Andrew Luck, on the other hand hasn't been as good as he was supposed to be. Just 1374 yards, 7 TDs and 6 INTs. Rookie Blake Bortles has been solid though. 1501 yards, and 7 TDs.

AFC West:

Broncos: 4-3
Chiefs: 4-3
Chargers: 4-4
Raiders: 1-6

Quick Take:
It's the division you've all been waiting for. The AFC West. Overall, if the Chargers were healthy, they would easily hold this division. Short term injuries throughout the season to Ryan Matthews, Melvin Ingram, and Dunlap have hurt. Plus, Lissemore has 4 weeks left and Woodhead 7. Although the same could be said for the Chiefs, as Alex Smith just came back from an injury recently. Peyton Manning has 1628 yards with 9 TDs and 4 INTs, but River's 1524 yards, 8 TDs and 1 INT has been better. Jamaal Charles has 631 rushing yards, and when healthy Woodhead put together 478. Overall, it will be a fun race to watch over the season. Overall, the headline is that the Chiefs picked up Danario Alexander a bit ago, and he has caught 26 balls for 300 yards.

Re: Cincinnati Bengals: We Don't Choke-- You Do

Spoiler

Bengals beat Jaguars 40-23
Move to 6-2

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- In Ohio, the Bengals took on the Jaguars in what was expected to be a blowout. "We just need to stay calm and play normal to win."

The Bengals would get the ball first on the rainy day in Ohio. A solid return would start them at the 31. They rolled upfield and were at the 39 a few plays later. The offense just kept on rolling. The running game wasn't working as well as the passing game, though. That, and the fact Marvin Jones dropped a 3rd down pass, were the reasons they only got a FG.

A 3 and out to the Jaguars gave the Bengals a chance for redemption. They made the most of it. On a 4th and 1 play, that shocked the Jaguars defense by going for it -- AND CALLING A SCEEN -- which got them a 21 yard TD! Then, another shocking play happened, as Mike Nugent's extra point was blocked.

After driving all the way to the 33, two penalties on the offense, and a sack that led to a fumble kept the Jaguars scoreless! That same fumble, allowed the Bengals to push their way downfield, and they got a TD. But they failed a 2 pt conversion, as they tried to get the blocked PAT back.

The Jaguars continued to struggle, as 3 incompletions forced them to punt, and the Bengals got a TD to make it 22-0. Before the half would end, the Jaguars put together a good drive and got themselves a FG.

At the start of the 2nd, the Jaguars drove down the field and got a 41 yard FG. Then, on the Bengals first play, Dalton got picked off, and then the Jaguars punched it in for a TD! It was 22-14 after the 2pt conversion. After a failed drive by the Bengals, the Jaguars continued to score, as they got another FG, and it was 22-17 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd. The Bengals took it to the 31, then on a slip screen play where the blocking failed, Hill broke a tackle, looked like he was down after getting hit, got back up, spun away from a defender and made it to the 3 before getting pushed out of bounds! 2 runs later, it was a TD, but they failed the 2pt conversion, as Watson intercepted it.

The Bengals got the ball back, and Dalton drove upfield before getting picked off.

The Jaguars continued to struggle, and the Bengals got a late FG with 6 minutes left to make it 31-17. But overall, it was out of reach. Especially after a safety. Since the Jaguars were calling TOs, it allowed the Bengals to get 1 more late score. The Jaguars got a score with 20 seconds left, but overall, it wouldn't make a difference, as the Bengals ended with a 40-23 victory.

Overall, Dalton led the passing attack, going 27/39 with 276 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs. Bortles wasn't bad though, going 25/45 with 247 yards, and 1 TD.

Rushing wise, Bernard carried the rock 32 times, got 3 TDs and 156 yards in his huge game. Gerhart had 1 TD with 12 carries for 60 yards, and Hill got 41 yards on 9 carries. A.J. Green caught 2 TDs, with 139 yards, and Jones was 8/76 with a TD. Allen Robinson went 8/70, and Blackmon was 4/54. Defensibly, Dunlap tied Atkins for the leader in sacks as he got 3 on the day, and Geathers got 2.

"Our offense performed fantastic, and our defense was great too. Overall, this is one of those games we model ourselves off of."

Re: Cincinnati Bengals: We Don't Choke-- You Do

Cleveland comes up big in 41-24 win
Dalton continues struggles; throws 4 interceptions

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- This NFL Sunday, the state of Ohio would be ripped apart, as both playoff contending Ohio teams faced off, and whichever one loses could get thrown off course. "We just can't let Manziel get big plays on us, and need our defense to do their job to win this game."

Manziel would get extra time to prepare, as the Bengals would get the ball first. The Browns run defense was obviously lacking, as the Bengals only had to throw once to get into 'plus territory' as the rest of the plays were runs. But ironically, it was a short pass up the middle that was just to get the ball away before he got sacked, that was caught by Bernard, then run upfield about 40 yards-- outrunning 2 defenders-- to get a TD.

The Browns got the ball looking to drive to the end zone and tie it up. After an 8 yard pass, a 3 yard loss running the football wasn't what they wanted. But on a slants route, they got a 10 yard gain to keep the drive alive. The Bengals LBers just couldn't stop these routes up the middle. Play after play Browns were completing passes, until they didn't have to complete anymore, as they got a TD to tie it all up with 1:25 left in the 1st.

The Bengals took a lot of time to drive upfield, and finally with 9:19 left on the clock in the 2nd, they got a TD and it was 14-7. The Browns got the ball back, and a bad throw made it 2nd and 10, then Johnny Football made a rookie mistake, giving up on a play to early as he tried to run but got sacked for a 5 yard loss. But a huge 18 yard grab by Hawkins allowed them to keep the chains moving.

But they couldn't keep them moving, as on 3rd and 11 from the 49, they couldn't get a 1st down and were forced to punt.

The Bengals started off at the 20, and on 3rd and 3, they did a slip screen to Bernard, where despite bad blocking, he gained 34 yards! You could tell this offense was looking for another score before the half ended. They got one, although it wasn't the type of score they wanted, as it was 17-7. After thinking that would be the final score going into the 2nd, penalties on the defense helped the browns get to the 29. But an 8 yard sack would make things a bit more challenging on 2nd down. A missed pass on 2nd would bring it to 3rd, where they got an 11 yard pass to make it a 43 yard FG.

In the 3rd, the Browns were forced to punt to the Bengals, who on 3rd down got intercepted and it was returned for a TD! The game was all tied up in the 3rd. Then, Dalton got intercepted again! It seemed like every game, Dalton got intercepted twice, as it was his 15th of the year. The defense held the Browns to a FG, but that FG got them the lead.

After getting to the 36, Dalton continued to struggle, throwing his 3rd interception, and it led to a TD. After losing the lead, they took a big step into getting it back with a TD with 10:32 left in the 4th.

The Browns got the ball and ran for 4 yards, but then a huge 8 yard sack looked like they had the Browns stopped, but Manziel got an 18 yard pass to keep the chains moving! That big play would play a part in the drive to the red zone, and from there, they got a TD to make it 34-24. The Bengals were at the 25, but then a huge interception made their chances very slim. Then a 53 yard run by Lewis pretty much secured the win.

Dalton today was 24/43 with 4 interceptions, 2 TDs and 314 yards, while Manziel was 19/24 with 214 yards and 2 TDs. Bernard had 22 rushes for 65 yards, Tate had 17 for 92, and Hill 10 for 50. Dion Lewis also had 5/83 with 2 TDs. On the receiving side, Marvin Jones was 9/127 with1 TD, and Hawkins was 6/67 and Green 5/60. Bernard also had a receiving TD and 74 yards on only 3 receptions.
