The Streak Lives On: Houston Improve To 5-0 With 31-24 Win Over Dallas

AP Dallas -- The Houston Texans continued their impressive start to the season under 1st year head coach Bill O'Brien with a 31-24 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

After falling behind 14-0 halfway thorugh the first quarter, the Texans answered back with a Randy Bullock field goal and a Ryan Mallett touchdown pass to DeAndre Hopkins to bring them within four points. Mallett came in and replaced starter Ryan Fitzpatrick who had to leave the game with broken ribs. The former Razorback had a pretty decent outing completing 14-of-23 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns.

Quote:
"Coach O'Brien told me to always be ready to come in because injuries are apart of the game. It's pretty easy to have good stats with some of the weapons we on this team. From Andre to Arian to all the tight ends. We have a lot of playmakers "
Texans QB Ryan Mallett
Even though Tony Romo, who played great with 260 yards passing and 3 total touchdowns, the Cowboys defense failed to show up like they've failed to do the first four weeks of the season. Dallas had a balanced attack of passing and rushing with over 160 yards on the ground but it still wasn't enough. Now sitting at 0-5, some big changes could happen if the team doesn't turn things around.

Arian Foster had another great outing with 121 yards rushing and a touchdown. All pro wide receiver Andre Johnson continued to show the league that he's still one of the best receivers playing hauling in 10 catches for 123 yards and a touchdown. On the defensive side Brian Cushing led the team with 8 tackles and 2 sacks while J.J. Watt had another 2 sack performance to go along with 7 tackles, 4 which went for a loss.

The Texans will now have a short week as they will head to Indy to take on AFC South foe the Indianapolis Colts for a Thursday night game.

Re: We Are Texans

Mallett Named Texans Starter
Fitzpatrick sidelined with broken ribs.

Mallett will make his first career start Thursday night.

Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien announced at his weekly presser that starter Ryan Fitzpatrick will miss at least the next 3 weeks after breaking his ribs in the teams 31-24 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. O'Brien also announced that Ryan mallet will move up the depth chart becoming the new starter while Fitzpatrick is out.

Quote:
"We all have fait in Ryan that he can led the team while Fitzpatrick is out. I've told him since our New England days to always be prepared because you never know what may happen."
Texans Head Coach Bill O'Brien

Rokie Tom Savge will serve as the team's backup quarterback and Shane Lechler will have emergency QB duties.

Re: We Are Texans

Texans Make Roster Moves

Aubrey will look to make an impact on special teams.

The Texans made four moves today, placing veteran Shiloh Keo on waivers and promoting second year safety Josh Aubrey to the 53-man roster.

They also re-signed rookie receiver Travis Labhart to the practice squad and waived kicker/punter Chris Boswell from the practice squad.

Keo, who's in his fourth season, started 11 games at safety in 2013. His lost snaps to fellow safety Eddie Pleasant.
Aubrey is a hard hitting safety who should be good on special teams. He played at Stephen F. Austin and played six games in Cleveland last year.

Boswell, a rookie free agent from Rice, was signed last week as insurance in case Randy Bullock had another poor kicking game.

Snapped: The Texans Winning Streak Is Ended By The Colts

AP Dallas -- The Houston Texans were able to hold Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts to just 131 total offensive yards, but they still fell to the Colts 29-16 on Thursday night ending their 5 game winning streak.

While it's defense dominated the Colts, their offense was able to move the chains all night racking up 477 total offensive yards including 223 yards on the ground. But the Texans main problem was turnovers, and their was a whole lot of them. Houston turned the ball over 7 times including 5 interceptions between Ryan Mallett and rookie Tom Savage. Head coach Bill O'Brien pulled Mallett after he threw his third int in the 3rd quarter, replacing him with the rookie from Pittsburgh. Savage was thrown into the fire and finished with 115 yards passing and 2 picks.

Quote:
"I know we're a better team then this. This loss is on me and me only."
Texans HC Bill O'Brien
Indy didn't score a single touchdown on offense but they got their points from big defensive plays and a big play on special team. Darius Butler picked off Mallett and returned it for a pick six and Andy Studebaker returned a Keshawn Martin fumble on a punt return for a touchdown. The Colts then looked to Adam Vinatieri for more points as he went a perfect 4-of-4 on field goal attempts.

The Texans lone bright spot on offense was Arian Foster's 93 yard touchdown late in the 3rd quarter to bring the Texans within 10 points.
