Re: One More Try: The Aaron Street Story

Agree with GravyBoat, this just got really interesting.

I like how it's kind of veering onto the path my RTG took..

Hopefully you can keep this going for a while.

Season 1, First Junior Varsity Game

August 31, 2009

"Come on Aaron, we don't have all day!" Teddy Fritz yelled to me as I was walking towards his car.

"Don't make us late!" Kobe Anderson said.

"I'm coming, I'm coming." I said, opening the door.

We rode to school, and immediately went to the lobby of the school. To look at the depth charts of course.

"Oh my god! I'm starting quarterback!" Teddy Fritz yelled jokingly.

I scanned over varsity first, I wasn't there. Junior Varsity, second string running back and third string cornerback. Freshman, quarterback.

"Hey Aaron, see I'm starting freshman wide receiver?" Brandon Striker asked me in first block.

"Yeah, and you have a great quarterback throwing to you." I said, grin on my face.

"Good luck on junior varsity tonight."

"Thanks man."

The rest of the day went by pretty fast and normally. I just wanted to play.

"Good luck seven." Chase Stevens said, as junior varsity was walking out of the locker room.

"I'll wish you luck from the bleachers." He said.

"Okay this is a winnable game, but don't get carried away. And don't underestimate them. Let's get this win!" Coach Patterson yelled.

"Wildcats on three!" Timmy Weston, junior varsity captain, yelled.

"1!"

"2!"

"3!"

"Wildcats!"

*From the commentator*

Here we go wildcats fans!

Phillip Davis, sophomore wide receiver, back to return the kick.

He gets it at the five yard line.

He goes up the middle, and gets to the twenty yard line, before being tackled.

Timmy Weston in the I formation. Takes the snap hands off to Frederick Freight, senior running back, and Frederick gets a gain of nine yards.

Second Quarter: 5:15 left in the second quarter.

Aaron Street is in at running back, as the Wildcats are already up 28-0.

It's a pitch to Aaron Street.

Wait!

He's gonna throw it.

He throws it to a wide open Brandon Striker, and he will score.

"Good throw Street." Coach Patterson said as I ran off the field.

Aaron Street is now in at Free Safety.

Island Marsh's junior varsity quarterback, Isiah Martin, takes the snap.

Throws it to his receiver.

No!

It's picked by

Aaron Street!

And he will take it all the way for a pick six.

Two great back to back plays by Aaron Street, that man is on fire.

Final Score: 49-3. Your Wildcat MVP is freshman, Aaron Street!

The game, after my two big plays, was decent I got a rushing touchdown and a couple pass breakups.

"Good game Street." I heard from all the coaches before I left.

I met up with Madison after the game.

"There's my Wildcat!" She yelled, as she threw her arms around me.

"Great game." She added on.

"Thanks." I said.

"You were amazing." She said.

We kissed.

"Street!" I heard an unfamiliar voice call out.

"I heard your brother got out and he owes us a lot of money." The guy said, walking closer.

I remained silent.

"Do you have any idea where that scumbag is?" He asked, still getting closer.

I remained silent.

"Tell me D*** it!" He screamed out.

Then was the moment that two things happened.

First my legal guardian came to my rescue.

"You need to leave." Coach Smith said, pushing him away.

"I'll be back." The strange man said as he left.

"You both okay?" Coach Smith asked.

"Yeah." I said, hugging Madison, trying to calm her. I could tell she was scared about the 'encounter.'

Then I realized the second thing: My brother was in more trouble than I had ever thought.

And that I might not be safe...

Season 1, First Freshman Game

September 2, 2009

"Aaron, get up!" Coach Smith yelled to me, as he went out the door.

"One more minute." I mumbled to myself.

8:00.

"S***!" I yelled to myself.

I was gonna be late, very late.

"Yo, Teddy. Can you pick me up?" I asked, as Teddy Fritz picked up his phone.

"I'm in class." He said quietly, trying not to be caught with his phone.

"Your QB 1." I said.

"Be there in ten."

I got my stuff together, and got into his car when he got here.

"Thanks man." I said as I got in.

"No problem, however there is one condition."

"What is it?"

"You have to ask Madison to homecoming, before the end of the week."

"Okay."

I was quiet the rest of the ride. I was trying to think of how I was gonna ask Madison to homecoming.

When I finally got to first block, the teacher wasn't to happy to see me late.

"Aaron Street. How nice of you to join us." Mrs.Sharp said.

"Thanks." I said sarcastically.

"That is not the proper attitude for my classroom."

"Okay."

"Nice." Brandon Striker said to me jokingly.

"Just make sure to throw darts tonight." He added on.

The rest of the day went by very slowly. I just wanted to play quarterback.

"Aaron, you ready?" Coach Lawrence, the freshman coach asked.

"Yes sir." I said in response.

"Do work." He responded.

Our returner got the ball out to the thirty yard line.

"686 Pump F-Stop on two!" I called in the huddle.

"Break!"

"Set!"

"Green 80, Green 80, Hut-Hut!"

I took the snap, and I knew exactly where I was going.

Straight to Brandon Striker, he could beat any one deep, on the freshman team at least.

I threw it to him, he caught it in stride and took it all the way for a touchdown.

"Whoo!" I yelled, coming off the field.

It's the start of the fourth quarter, and it looks as if the freshman starters will be in for one more series. The Wildcats are already up 49-0.

"Let's have some fun. Anyone have any play ideas?" I asked in the huddle.

No one answered.

"Okay, I've got one."

I explained it to them, and told everyone their role.

"Break!"

"Set!"

"Nebraska 17, Green 72, Hut!"

I took the ball, and did a quick throw behind the line of scrimmage to Brandon Striker.

He acted like he was gonna run, then through it back to me, still behind him and the line of scrimmage.

I looked deep for Johhny Patterson, he was open.

I threw it to him, wide open.

He walked in for the touchdown.

"Great play Street." Coach Lawrence said as I came off the field.

"I call it the Street Shuffle." I said, coming up with the name on the spot.

Your Wildcat MVP is, Aaron Street! He went 13 of 13 for 312 yards and 3 Touchdowns. He also added 112 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns on the ground

Re: One More Try: The Aaron Street Story

Looking good. You're definitely doing a good job of keeping me interested-- got me wondering if his brother did it, or the guy that came up to you did it, and your brother is running like hell?

Thanks for supporting it, and I'm glad you're interested.

As for who did it, I guess you'll have to stay tuned to find out.

Season 1, Homecoming?

September 3, 2009

"We still going to Lincoln's Diner?" I asked Johhny Patterson.

"Yeah man." He replied back.

"Wait, I've got a group project due in Algebra." He added on.

"Okay." I said disappointed.

'There goes my plans.' I thought to myself as I walked down the hallway.

Then I bumped into Teddy.

"When you doing it?" He asked me.

I knew what he was talking about, asking Madison to homecoming.

"I guess today." I said, not sure how I was going to do it.

"Make it good." He said, walking away.

"Yeah."

I then went to talk to Madison.

"Hey Aaron." She said as I approached.

"Hey Madison." I responded.

"What's up?" She asked.

"Do you wanna hang out tonight?" I asked.

"Sure, what are we gonna do?"

"Just chill, watch some movies."

"Sounds great. See you at your place. What time?"

"Could be right now."

"Okay." She said with a grin.

*Later At Coach Smith/Aaron's House*

10:00 P.M.

"Oh s***, I gotta go Aaron." She said worriedly.

"I'll walk you home." I said throwing on my jacket.

We walked home and once we got to her front door, I thought it was the perfect chance.

She walked inside.

"Wait." I said, grabbing her hand.

I took both of her hands in my hands. I looked her straight in the eyes.

"Will you go to homecoming with me?" I asked.

"No." She said quietly, as she slammed the door.

"No?" I said, saddened and angered, and worrying why she didn't say yes.

"No?" I repeated to myself, as I walked home.

"No?"
