Re: Packing the Heat~A UAB Blazers dynasty

THROUGH THE WEEK
Monday
Monday was the first practice for the Blazers and they spent most time on team building, and learning the new playbook. It was a no contact practice.

Tuesday
Practice on Tuesday was laidback as the team worked on jump balls and routes as well as ball security.

Wednesday
Optional practice. Basically only DBs, WRs and QBs came. Worked on route running and jet sweeps.

Thursday
Today was the day all the kinks were ironed out as the first team offence and the first team defence took to the field in a scrimmage. Overall the team's receivers looked in sink with the QB.

Friday
Media day a short practice was held. A small scuffle happened between the defensive and offensive lines. The fight was ended quickly by the coaches. Hopefully the fire they had in practice translates to the game.

MEDIA DAY

Q: How do you feel your team will come out on Saturday?

A: I think if we come out with focus and energy and I feel our job as coaches is to not only train the kids but also get them ready for the atmosphere and the moment.

Q: Herbstreit picks Troy to win tomorrow, how do you feel about this?

A: I think our guys know we’ll be underdogs almost every single game so, I think that they’ll get used to it.

Q: Troy runs an up-tempo offense so how have you been preparing for this?

A: The defensive line is obviously the area that will have the lack of endurance but our big boys have been working hard this week. They know they will be targeted so I think we’ll be fine.

Q: You personally run a ground attack oriented offense, why?

A: Its two things for me. I think the team gets more fired up with a big run than a big pass and, it takes more time off the clock and keeps the other team’s offense on the sideline. If you can’t score you can’t win.

Troy Just Broke My Heart, My Achy Brakey Heart
UAB couldn't pull out a comeback in Troy Alabama on Saturday night as they fell 38-24. The main reason for the loss was ball security. "If you lose the turnover battle you'll probably lose the game," said coach Greyvenstein after the loss. " I felt as though it would mean a lot to Johnny (Perry, 2nd string QB)." Johnathon had this to say via Twitter late Saturday

"Gotta apologize to the coaches, teammates, and fans after that performance. 6 picks to many #Yikes #neveragain"

The quote ends with the hashtag never again. The question is will Perry play again? "You know, I'm going to take Johnny out to dinner and we'll talk about it, obviously I want him to have confidence in himself so, if he wants to start we'll see if it's in the cards."

On a lighter note Sr Calvin Jones tied the school record for interceptions in a game with 3. "I'm disappointed that we didn't pull it out but, overall I felt as though I put forth my best effort."

Next week UAB takes on a tough LSU team at #13 in the nation in Baton Rouge.

Edit: Do you guys like this format or should I do something else

I took some but didn't like how they turned out. Hopefully against LSU they'll be better.
