I got absolutely HAMMERED in this one.. Unfortunately the bye week got us a little rusty. The only positives I can take away from this game are the extraordinary play from Rod Streater and Mychal Rivera.

The Offense was abysmal today. We had all the chances in the world, got the Chargers to commit 7 penalties (to our 0 by the way) but we still couldn't get the ball in the end zone. Derek Carr had a terrible game, one after his best performance as a Pro, throwing 4 INTs on 231 yards passing - his biggest targets were Rod Streater who caught a game-high 10 passes for 113 yards and Mychal Rivera nabbed 6 balls for 67 yards. Both receivers were amazing in open field and got away from their coverage with ease - may have to look into a better QB for the future, or at least fully commit to improving Carr in the off season; but these guys are the real deal.

The Defense was bad today; just plain bad. Philip Rivers had his typical Destroy-The-Raiders type of game, throwing 19 of 22 completions for 339 yards and 4 TDs, with 0 turnovers. He hit Malcolm Floyd for 2 big scores today, including a 59 yard score that was only scored because of terribly timed Hit Stick's by me. The Raiders did let up big yardage to Danny Woodhead today, who bolted for 89 yards on 21 carries, but his average was hindered thanks to stout defense toward the end of the game, unfortunately we couldn't get that going the entire game.

Re: Rebuilding the Silver & Black - A Raiders Franchise (Madden 15)

Year 1, Week 7
An awful week last week. Need to erase that game from our memory and then hopefully move on and beat the woeful Cardinals. After seeing the play of Carr I may want to look into a QB in the draft, but for now I need to begin scouting for my future Cornerback and future Middle Linebacker - those are my top priorities right now, followed by Running Back, then Quarterback. I would like to try and trade off one of my backup Quarterbacks and ship them off to a team-in-need for a draft pick or two.

Thankfully Rod Streater is coming through as a solid target for Carr and Rivera is coming into his own as a dominant red-zone threat Tight End. I should be getting James Jones more involved in the offense too, but he doesn't seem to get as open as Streater does.

Performance Rankings / Standings
Team Player Performance Rankings
  • D. Carr: 1,217 Passing Yards – 22nd in NFL
  • M. Jones-Drew: 354 Rushing Yards – 12th in NFL
  • R. Streater - 518 Receiving Yards - 6th in NFL
  • K. Maiava: 32 Tackles - 76th in NFL
  • J. Tuck: 8 Sacks – 2nd in NFL
  • T. Branch: 2 Interception – 13th in NFL

Team Performance Rankings
  • Raiders Offensive Rank: 22nd - 1,826 Yards Gained
    • Pass: 30th – 1,189 Passing Yards
    • Rush: 6th – 637 Rushing Yards

  • Raiders Defensive Rank: 4th - 1,620 Yards Allowed
    • Pass: 1st – 1,074 Passing Yards Allowed
    • Rush: 24th – 546 Rushing Yards Allowed

League Leaders - Offensive
  • Passing: Andrew Luck (IND) - 1,850 Passing Yards
  • Rushing: Adrian Peterson (MIN) - 602 Rushing Yards
  • Receiving: Brandon Marshall (CHI) - 653 Receiving Yards

League Leaders - Defensive
  • Tackles: Stephen Tulloch (DET) - 65 Tackles
  • Sacks: Junior Galette (NO) - 11 Sacks
  • Interceptions: Antoine Cason (CAR) - 6 Interceptions

AFC West Standings
  1. Denver Broncos (5-0)
  2. Kansas City Chiefs (3-2)
  3. San Diego Chargers (3-3)
  4. Oakland Raiders (2-3)

Draft Stories & Scouting
Team Needs:
QB, RB, WR, LG, RG, RT, LE, RE, MLB, CB, FS, K
Scouting Points: 540 - this is the week I begin scouting

Players Scouted
  • Kevonne Ware - CB - Run Support / Base 4-3 - 1st Round, #21
    • A-Ratings: Speed, Jumping
    • B-Ratings: Man Coverage, Zone Coverage, Press, Pursuit
    • C-Ratings: Play Recognition, Awareness
    • D-Ratings: Tackle, Catching

I like what this kid has to offer. He is a tall (6'2") corner who clearly has good coverage skills and is a great in press and can make quick changes.. I will look into his Development rating unless I find someone better, but for the price (a late-1st pick) he is looking like gold.
  • Kobi Reeves - CB - Run Support / Attacking 3-4 - 1st Round, #30
    • A-Ratings: Speed, Press
    • B-Ratings: Jumping, Man Coverage, Zone Coverage, Pursuit
    • C-Ratings: Tackle, Awareness
    • D-Ratings: Play Recognition, Catching

A little bit of a shakeup from Ware but while he fits into my system better, I do not like the fact his Play Recognition skills are lower than Ware's.. He's my #2 CB..
  • Arione Powers - MLB - Prototype / Base 4-3 - 1st Round, #6
    • A-Ratings: Speed, Tackle, Pursuit, Hit Power
    • B-Ratings: Zone Coverage, Block Shedding
    • C-Ratings: Awareness, Play Recognition
    • D-Ratings: Man Coverage

This is the man I have been looking for for Middle Linebacker. He is fast, he is good at zone coverage, and he can blast through blocks with ease - plus the fact he is only 21 is just a benefit. He is definitely my #1 right now, and since there are no other 1st Round prospects for MLB, he is my main go-to as well.. So I definitely need to make a trade for a top pick.
  • Chad Pittman - QB - Balanced / Spread - 3rd Round, #17
    • A-Ratings: Throw Power
    • B-Ratings: Agility, Throw Accuracy Short
    • C-Ratings: Speed, Throw Accuracy Middle, Throw on the Run, Play Action
    • D-Ratings: Throw Accuract Deep
    • F-Ratings: Awareness, Elusiveness

He is not the guy I need for QB. I wasn't looking seriously at one but I wanted to scout one in the middle of the pack to maybe pick up to back up Carr for the future, but this kid is pretty awful.. He is at the bottom of my Big-Board.. Just for laughs, I will scout one of the top QBs to see what I am missing out on.
  • Colby Fulton - QB - Balanced / Vertical Offense - 1st Round, #4
    • A-Ratings: Throw Power
    • B-Ratings: Agility, Throw Accuracy Short & Middle, Throw on Run,
    • C-Ratings: Speed, Throw Accuracy Deep, Play Action
    • D-Ratings: Awareness
    • F-Ratings: Elusiveness

This is a Quarterback.. He isn't enough to go out of my way and stop developing Derek Carr but this is the standard of what a top-rated QB should be - someone who can bomb the ball, and has good accuracies all over the field and can throw on the Run - although Carr is especially good at that already.
  • Elijah Donnelly - RB - Receiving Back / Spread - 2nd Round, #3
    • A-Ratings: Acceleration, Agility, Juke Move, Injury
    • B-Ratings: Speed, Tucking, Ball Carier Vision, Elusiveness, Spin Move, Toughness
    • C-Ratings: Stiff Arm, Carrying, Catching, Catch in Traffic
    • D-Ratings: Awareness, Route Running

For any kind of Running Back I would like to get a receiving back and this kid is pretty good. He has balanced skills all over the place but the one thing I really don't like is that he has a B Speed rating.. That is the only thing that sinks him in my RB Big-Board.
  • Justice Dickerson - RB - Receiving Back / Vertical Offense - 1st Round, #24
    • A-Ratings: Speed, Acceleration,
    • B-Ratings: Ball Carrier Vision, Elusiveness, Spin Move, Injury, Stamina
    • C-Ratings: Stiff Arm, Carrying, Catching, Catch in Traffic, Pass Block,
    • D-Ratings: Awareness, Route Running

This kid definitely is worth the 1st Round price tag. He boasts many of the same skills as Donnelly but has that A-level speed I am looking for.

My Big Board
  1. Arione Powers - MLB
  2. Kevonne Ware - CB
  3. Kobi Reeves - CB
  4. Justice Dickerson - RB
  5. Elijiah Donnelly - RB
  6. Colby Fulton - QB
  7. Chad Pittman - QB

News / Injuries
My Stories

  • Pinning Back Their Ears: Much like they have all season, the Raiders defense will attempt to shut down the Cardinals this week.

Around the League Stories

  • Taking the Field: The impressive Packers offense takes the field this week versus the Panthers

    • "You look back at that draft class, it's very easy to say Reggie Wayne was the best pick. #recordwatch" - Skip Bayless

Coach's Corner
Trade
I needed to make a trade for a draft pick. I wanted to find a team that needed a QB, and I found them. Unfortunately, I could not unload Matt Schaub and his gigantic contract and had to settle for getting rid of 2nd Year pro Matt McGloin.. But, I got a 1st Round Pick out of the deal.

Trade Between Oakland Raiders and New York Jets

  • Raiders Give: Matt McGloin - QB (74 OVR) and 2016 3rd Round Pick
  • Jets Give: 2015 1st Round Pick

I got the pick I needed and for a very low cost - the Jets are 1-5 right now and hold the #3 pick so this is very exciting news.

Another bad game by us today, just not being able to make plays is killing us.

The Offense was terrible today, only being able to muster up 270 yards of total offense. Derek Carr threw a mediocre 22 of 40 completions for 200 yards and 1 INT - and the offensive line absolutely failed him by letting him get sacked 5 times, including 3 from Darnell Dockett himself. Rod Streater was again the only bright spot of this offense, posting another 9 catches for only 85 yards. Maurice Jones-Drew was only able to get 68 yards on the ground on 19 carries but did find the end zone.

The Defense was bad today as well. The only bright spot here was Justin Tuck continuing to dominate the opposing Right Tackle, registering 3 more sacks. Carson Palmer still was able to throw a great game, throwing for 245 yards and 2 scores - his big target was Michael Floyd who caught 6 passes for a game-high 122 yards and a score. Andre Ellington was able to get a good game on the ground against our bottom-feeding rush defense, netting 75 yards on just 14 carries with a score.

Re: Rebuilding the Silver & Black - A Raiders Franchise (Madden 15)

Year 1, Week 8
Just an ugly loss last week and Derek Carr is looking less and less like the QB I was hoping he would turn out to be. Some shining moments but really just an overall disappointment through the first half of the season.

All season I have been getting offers for Benson Mayowa (RE) but the offers have been miniscule, but I may want to make a move to grab a draft pick..

I'm tired of seeing Benson Mayowa constantly being on my Actions screen. and I looked at the most recent offer and I have one that really has peaked my interest.

Trade Between Oakland Raiders and Atlanta Falcons
  • Raiders Give: Benson Mayowa (RE - 69 Overall)
  • Falcons Give: Harry Douglas (WR - 79 Overall) & 2016 4th Round Pick
This is an awesome trade for the Raiders. We don't lose anyone very important and we gain an immediate #2 WR to fill in for James Jones while he is slacking - he will only drop down to the #3 spot, but he has been making too many drops to continue being my #2 receiver.

Finally snapped out of this funk that we have been in the last few weeks. Derek Carr also finally looked good and the new addition of Harry Douglas definitely paid off.

Derek Carr finished the day with 243 yards and 1 score, finding new #1 WR Harry Douglas a team-high 8 times for 85 yards, and hitting Mychal Rivera 4 times for 90 yards. Maurice Jones-Drew was the highlight of the offense today, as he tallied up 90 yards on just 20 carries and found the end zone 2 times; which was huge and he finally broke out of his mini-funk.

The Defense was great today. Brian Hoyer had a great day (amazingly, he is one of the best QBs in the NFL right now) throwing an impressive 28 of 35 completions for 289 yards and 1 TD. His main targets on the day were Jordan Cameron and Miles Austin, who both nabbed 5 catches (Cameron had 52 yards and Austin only was able to get 46 yards). While the Browns were great through the air, they couldn't get anything going on the ground as Isaiah Crowell only got 36 yards on 12 carries.

Re: Rebuilding the Silver & Black - A Raiders Franchise (Madden 15)

Year 1, Week 9
I dont know how it happened but we pulled off a win against a surprising Cleveland Browns team. Derek Carr finally looked like a pro QB and Maurice Jones-Drew returned to his former self and is continuing his solid 2014 campaign. I do need to find a replacement for the future but it is nice to know that MJD can provide solid numbers until my new addition becomes ready.

What an awful game. This is the epitome of what Raiders football has become over the last decade and this is what I plan on changing; but clearly this team is not there yet; while we have flashes of greatness, we clearly aren't cut out for the top of the NFL food chain.

The Offense was abysmal today, and while I wasn't expecting much going against the Seahawks at home - I wasn't expecting to see a -5 Turnover Difference. That is a game-killer and a complete confidence killer. Derek Carr had another awful game, throwing 4 INTs to only 1 TD and only managed 241 yards; his big play of the day coming on a nice 48 yard cross route to Harry Douglas who is making his name known now that he is a member of the Raiders, catching a team-high 6 catches for 105 yards - but he did fumble the ball on a kickoff return, but that is my fault as he should not be the return specialist; that belongs to Denarius Moore. Mychal Rivera also had a decent day, catching 3 balls for 46 yards over the middle. Maurice Jones-Drew had a terrible day, this coming one week after I really admired his play so far this season, as he only got 43 yards on the ground and managed to cough the ball up as well.

The Defense got absolutely torched today. Russell Wilson had one of the best games of this season, throwing 21 of 26 completions for 217 yards and 2 scores with 0 INTs. He also managed to rush for 26 yards including an amazing 9 yard scamper where he busted out of a sure-fire sack and waltzed into the end zone. Marshawn Lynch was absolutely brilliant today, busting off 98 yards on just 20 carries and found the end zone 2 times; and his 9 yard score was brilliant as well, busting off would-be tacklers left and right, breaking 3 tackles before crossing the line. Backup Christine Michael had a great game in relief as well, putting up 39 yards and a score. We couldn't stop the run whatsoever and that needs to change.

This was just a bad week, and things aren't looking like they are going to get any better as our schedule over the next few weeks is just unrelentingly punishing; facing the undefeated Broncos, then the Chargers, then the Chiefs. Ugh...

Re: Rebuilding the Silver & Black - A Raiders Franchise (Madden 15)

Harry Douglas was a good pickup, but you know you're in trouble when he's your #1 option. I think weapons are a bigger need for you in the offseason over quarterback. Although with your adjusted sliders, it looks like you will have a tough going developing Carr.

Might have to check this guy out soon. Waiting another 2 weeks and then I will begin scouting again.

Such a close game for us but another loss to tack onto the record. Damn we could've had that one..

The Offense today was absolutely spectacular - Derek Carr had another great game, throwing for a season-high 297 yards and 1 score, while also rushing in for a score. Harry Douglas is becoming a phenomenal receiver in Oakland, posting another huge day with 8 grabs for 98 yards. Rod Streater had 5 catches for 45 himself, and the Maurice Jones-Drew also had a big day, rushing for 52 yards and 1 TD, and catching 5 balls for 30 yards and 1 TD.

The Defense today was pretty bad all around. The shining star of today, however, was Lamarr Woodley who recorded a ridiculous 5 sacks on the day, absolutely torturing Peyton Manning. However, Peyton had a huge day, throwing for 397 yards and 3 scores, but was picked off 2 times. Our Pass D did a phenomenal job today, but gave up lots of yardage because the Broncos were actually losing throughout most of the game. His big targets on the day were Andre Caldwell who caught 7 passes for 59 yards and a score, and Juilius Thomas caught 6 passes for 106, and Demaryius Thomas caught 5 for 87 and 1 TD. On the ground, Montee Ball had a big day, rushing for 83 yards on just 12 carries.

Yeah definitely not a good thing when Douglas is my #1 but definitely will be looking to upgrade in the offseason, that's for sure.. Carr is difficult to use with the sliders how they are now, but it is definitely more realistic with a rookie struggling like how he is in this franchise. Just have to play smarter is all..
