Re: Cleveland's Revival: A Dawg Pound Tale
As for Cundiff, I just needed a slider change. The kick gauge was a little too sensitive as well, so I put in an hour or so of practice with that. My first priority for any signings is defense.

Re: Cleveland's Revival: A Dawg Pound Tale
Browns Sign Veteran CB Champ Bailey Champ back in his glory days with the Broncos. November 5, 2014--- In preparation of the massive AFC North showdown tomorrow night (8:25 PM, NFL Network), the Browns have announced that they have signed the veteran CB Champ Bailey to aid the Browns pass coverage in anyway possible. Since being cut by the Saints in the preseason, he has stayed in relatively good playing shape, and has earned a right to play immediately, but will see limited action tomorrow night, and until he gets back to proper football shape. To make room for Bailey on the roster, the Browns released MLB Tank Carder, the 3rd year pro out of Texas Christian University. The decision was made as a result of the poor play of the Browns defense, especially their secondary, over the last few weeks, and reflects the boldness of the rookie head coach Sam Freday.

Re: Cleveland's Revival: A Dawg Pound Tale
Browns Gameday Preview: Week 10 The Browns go on the road to face their biggest rival in a stadium that is named after the namesake of their team, Paul Brown. We. Are. Finally. Here. Primetime. The big stage. The Battle of Ohio. Thursday Night Football. Jim and Phil in the booth. Everything we have been waiting for this season. Even better, the Browns come in with strong hopes to sneak into the last AFC Wild Card spot. But with a brutal 8 game stretch lasting the rest of the season, this will be no easy task. The Bengals may be 4-4, but as always, they have one of the most explosive pass offenses in the league. They are also 31st in the league in Rushing Yards Per Game, and their leading rusher, Giovani Bernard, only has 137 yards through 8 games (granted, he has battled injuries). The Browns brought in Champ Bailey in the hopes that he and Joe Haden can at least slow down the lethal trio of QB Andy Dalton and his two favorite targets, AJ Green and Mohamed Sanu, both of whom have over 600 yards receiving on the yea and are in the top 10 in the entire league in that category. But let's not forget who is on top in receiving yards. Josh Gordon. His numbers may go down a bit in the next couple of weeks, as Coach Freday wants to get even more run oriented. Last week, the Browns did not turn it over at all, for the first time all year. Johnny Manziel only attempted 18 passes, completing 14, but yet still threw for over 200 yards. It would be ideal for the Browns to keep pounding the ball on the ground with Andre Ellington and Isaiah Crowell. Even if the Bengals defense, led by Rey Maualaga and Vontaze Burfict up front, with Reggie Nelson leading the secondary, can stop the run, Coach Freday wants his troops to show some discipline, because quite frankly, he doesn't think they can win. That is his main motivational tool, which he will use to get his team fired up. A young, inexperienced group of guys, on the Browns, no less, going into The Jungle to face a well oiled offensive machine on national television? Please... This one shouldn't be close... ...But will it???

Re: Cleveland's Revival: A Dawg Pound Tale
Gameday Recap: Bengals 20, Browns 14 2 turnovers in final 3 minutes send Bengals to victory Rey Maualuga strips the ball from Andrew Hawkins around midfield just before the two minute warning. The Browns got a stop, but the Cincy lead went from 3 to 6. They played their hearts out. It was clear from the first defensive snap that the sheer presence of Champ Bailey made everyone better. It sure made Donte Whitner play better. On the first Bengals possession of the game, Whitner cut off A.J. Green and picked off what would have been a touch down pass at the 2 yard line. That drive had eaten up a good 5 minutes, and a long Browns drive that ended in a punt closed the book on a scoreless first quarter. I repeat, we had a scoreless first quarter. I guess that's what happens when two West Coast offenses go at it. So after that aforementioned punt, the Bengals went on another long drive, but this time, the Browns couldn't stop Mohamed Sanu from catching a slant route and going 12 yards for a score. Two plays after the ensuing kickoff, on 2nd down, Manziel hooked up with Andre Ellington, and he had quite the opening. 69 yards later, he was finally brought down by Leon Hall. Isaiah Crowell punched it in to even the score. After a big stop by the Browns defense at their 45 yard line, they had a shot to take a lead into the half. With about 30 seconds, however, at the Cincinnati 30 yard line, Manziel took off scrambling, something he has done more of recently. He got the first down and much more, but as he tried to slide, the ball was knocked loose and recovered by Geno Atkins. The Bengals ran out the half, but surprisingly, the game was tied at 7 at halftime. If someone had told Coach Freday that before the game, who knows what he would have said? It wasn't 7-7 for long. Jeremy Hill topped off a 3:30 drive by leaping one yard into the end zone. Could the Browns respond? After getting past midfield, Manziel was looking for Jordan Cameron on a corner route, and Leon Hall made an absolutely unbelievable play, coming out of nowhere to dive for the interception. But yet, the Browns got another stop, thanks to their defensive line stopping the run. They didn't stop it all game, but certainly stepped up when they had too. The league's number one offense just had to get past the Bengals' defense. And they did. Josh Gordon capped a 6 minute drive with a 3 yard, game tying touch down catch. The Bengals came back with a long drive of their own, also about 6 minutes long, but were held to a field goal. After struggling for much of the season, the Browns defense came off the field running, as they knew that their offense had a shot, since it has proven to be so effective this season. Coach Freday figured that the best way to do it was to be in no hurry at all. Using a methodical method of play calling, not yet shying away form running the ball. At their own 40, with about 2:30 on the clock, Johnny Manziel found Andrew Hawkins on a crossing pattern, but... FUMBLE!!! Rey Maualuga had made the play of the game, or so they thought. The Browns responded by forcing a three and out, using the 2 minute warning as a timeout and even getting Andy Dalton to throw an incompletion, saving two timeouts for the final drive. But with a 10 mph wind at their backs, Cincy Coach Marvin Lewis called on the field goal unit for a 58 yard try. Mike Nugent nailed it, but only with about 2 or 3 yards to spare. So with just over 1:30 left, the Browns could still win it with a touch down AND a Billy Cundiff extra point. They wouldn't get that opportunity. The absolutely valiant effort all around with 20 seconds left, when Johnny Manziel panicked when he saw Geno Atkins and threw it right into the hands of the rookie Darqueze Dennard who undercut Josh Gordon on the play. What an effort. Hey Bengals, when you come to the Dawg Pound in Week 15, prepare for a dogfight. Champ Bailey watches Mohamed Sanu's TD show in the 1st with a taste of spite in his mouth. The Browns were brought to life when Josh Gordon caught this 3 yard TD pass before falling into the loving (not really) embrace of Vontaze Burfict.

Re: Cleveland's Revival: A Dawg Pound Tale
Browns Gameday Preview: Week 11 The 3-6 Texans come into town, but if the Browns think it will be an easy task to rebound from last week's loss, they are higly mistaken. Two words. J.J. Watt. Even without his D-Line buddy Jadeveon Clowney, who is out for essentially the rest of the season with a bum hamstring, he leads his struggling, but now healthy Texans into Believeland. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick returns to the starting lineup after being injured, while Arian Foster is trying to find his groove after being out for a while himself. But, as always, they have two receivers that are bound to challenge Joe Haden and Champ Bailey. Andre Johnson, the staple of the franchise ever since he was drafted during the days in which the team was new and perpetually terrible, and his young compadre, DeAndre Hopkins will look to quiet down the Believeland crowd. If the Browns can't run the ball with Andre Ellington and Johnny Manziel as a result of the play of Watt and LBs Brooks Reed and Brian Cushing, they will not be afraid to burn the Texans' secondary by using Josh Gordon to open everyone else up.
