Broncos Handle Falcon Rushing Attack
The Boise State Broncos emerged victorious once more this past weekend. Despite giving up almost 300 yards on the ground, the Broncos were able to perform when it counted most defensively.
"Whenever Air Force crossed the 50 yard line in to our territory we really stepped it up. When you play with a bend but don't break mentality you really give your team a great shot at winning," said Boise State defensive coordinator Marcel Yates. That was exactly what the Broncos did. The only Air Force touchdown of the game came on a 75 yard run.
Offensively Jay Ajayi had a much better game than in the past 2 weeks. Ajayi averaged just over 5 yards per carry, leading the Broncos with 136 yards rushing.
"It makes my job a lot easier when the offensive line executes the way they did today. Those guys make me look good," Ajayi was quoted after the game.
Head Coach Bryan Harsin was happy with the performance, but says his team still has plenty of room for improvement. "Nobody likes to give up close to 300 yards on the ground, so we've got to get back to work on our run game defensively. However, our secondary has been fantastic this year. We're making teams one dimensional."
Next week the Broncos will take on rival Fresno State in California.
