Trading Places: Jets and Bills swap coaches

Rex Ryan was introduced as the Buffalo Bills head coach on Sunday and today the Jets have hired the guy he replaced.

Marrone was fired by the Bills on Friday, and later that night Jets owner Woody Johnson confirmed that Gang Green was interested, calling Marrone’s availability “pretty good news.” Johnson fired Ryan after the team broke training camp.

Ryan and Marrone switching places will certainly spice of the Bills-Jets rivalry. The question to these fan bases now have to ask is: who got the better end of the deal? In his first two seasons with the Jets, Ryan reached the AFC Championship Game twice, which is two more times than Marrone can boast.

Unfortunately, the two teams won't square off until later in the season (week's 8 and 12).

Re: In Rex We Trust - Buffalo Bills Madden 15 Connected Franchise Mode

SACK LUNCH!!!
Mario Williams 4 sacks lead Bills past Bears in season opener
The Bills defense stole the show Sunday. The unit racked up ten sacks and forced four turnovers in delivering head coach Rex Ryan his first victory with the team.

Despite only having a week to learn a brand new offense, EJ Manuel was very efficient. He completed 18 of 22 passes for 176 yards. He did throw a brutal red zone interception, but overall managed the game well.

Sammy Watkins had 27 yards receiving on 2 catches in his debut, but his presence was felt as the Bears rolled coverage to his side in obvious passing situations.Robert Woods added 41 yards receiving on 4 catches and scored the Bills only passing touchdown.

As well as the Bills played defensively, they did not seem to have an answer for Matt Forte. He ran for 127 yards on only 18 carries, and scored the Bears only touchdown. Perhaps the Bills put too much focus on the Bears star wide receivers, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, as they were complete non factors only combining for 55 yards.

Jay Cutler was accurate completing 19 of his 26 throws, but only threw for 187 yards and seemed shell shocked by the Bills potent pass rush. He was able to escape a few times and throw the ball away and make some plays with his legs on two nice scrambles for 38 yards. But for his handful of good plays, he had even more disastrous ones. Cutler threw three interceptions and fumbled twice.

The Bears revamped defense didn’t do a good job shutting down the Bills run game, allowing 177 yards rushing. CJ Spiller ran for 120 of those yards and if the Bills hadn’t jumped out to such a big lead the new-look defense would have looked even worse. The Bills offense was on cruise control in the second half to run the clock. Receivers were seemingly running open for the Bills the entire game. EJ Manuel methodically moved the ball with quick and efficient passes up-and-down the field. The Bears didn't force the Bills to punt in the first half, as the Bills controlled the clock with 4 long drives.

The Bills defense was the story though. Despite facing what many believe will be an elite offense this season, the Bills made them look mediocre, even putrid at times. Mario Williams led the assault with 4 sacks, with Marcel Dareus and Jerry Hughes each adding one themselves. Brandon Spikes had two sacks himself, forcing Cutler to fumble on both of them (recovered one). The units performance was capped off by three interceptions from the Bills top three cornerbacks Corey Graham, Leodis McKelvin, and Stephon Gilmore.

The Bills head home to face division rival Miami next Sunday.

Re: In Rex We Trust - Buffalo Bills Madden 15 Connected Franchise Mode

Hat Trick!!!
Mario continues to dominate, Bills beat rival Dolphins

The Bills defense once again carried the Bills to a victory. Mario Williams once again led the attack, this time with three quarterback takedowns. Marcel Dareus also continued to impress with two sacks himself. Brandon Spikes, who is really excelling on blitzes in Rex Ryan's scheme, added another sack. Unlike in Chicago, the Bills did not get any turnovers. On the other hand, they did shut down the run game today, holding the Dolphins to 45 yards rushing.

Offensively, EJ Manuel was forced to do a little more this week, as the Dolphins were able to slow the Bills run game. He completed 22 of 34 passes for 200 yards. He did throw two interceptions, but he also threw two touchdowns. Sammy Watkins seems to be adapting rather quickly to the rolled coverages he's been seeing. He grabbed nine balls for 81 yards and had his first career touchdown. Scott Chandler benefited from the extra attention Watkins received and was able to find soft open holes in coverage underneath. Overall the offense was average, but there were some encouraging signs from the passing game.

The stats may not show it, but the Dolphins young quarterback was fantastic Sunday afternoon. Ryan Tannehill was the only bright spot on the Miami offense. He was accurate and did not seem phased by the Bills ferocious pass rush. He should of been sacked six more times, but he was able to escape and make some nice plays while avoiding big mistakes.

The Bills stay undefeated and stay home next week to face the struggling 0-2 Chargers.

Re: In Rex We Trust - Buffalo Bills Madden 15 Connected Franchise Mode

EJ is the Man(uel)!
EJ Manuel steps up to lead the Bills to a 28-14 victory over the Chargers
EJ Manuel, was selected 16th overall out of Florida State in the 2013 draft to be the Bills franchise quarterback. He looked the part Sunday afternoon against the Chargers. Manuel finished 22 of 34 for 275 yards passing and three scores. He did throw one interception, but it should be chalked up to a ridiculous play from the Chargers All-Pro safety Eric Weddle. The Bills traded up to the 4th overall pick to get EJ Manuel a legitimate number one wide receiver in Sammy Watkins. Like Manuel, Watkins looked the part Sunday. He hauled in two touchdowns with 147 receiving yards.

The defense was still good this week, but they didn't have to do much as the Bills seemingly had the ball the entire game. The Chargers sure did respect them. They seemed to have a very conservative game plan. Outside of a 68 yard touchdown to Keenan Allen, the Chargers seemed terrified to dial up any plays down the field. Though Rivers did post a perfect quarterback rating, the Chargers weren't able to do much on offense, and quite frankly didn't really try too. Can you blame them though? Even with a insanely conservative game plan, the Bills were still able to sack Rivers three times.

Unlike the first two weeks, the Bills offense was dominant. If they can keep this up with this defense, they will be a scary team.

The Bills take their 3-0 record to Houston next week to square off against JJ Watt and the Texans.

Re: In Rex We Trust - Buffalo Bills Madden 15 Connected Franchise Mode

Speed Kills!!!
Devin Hester is headed to Buffalo

Devin Hester, who became perhaps the best return man in NFL history during his eight years in Chicago, was cut by Atlanta following the preseason. Now he has agreed to a new one-year deal with the Bills, the team announces.

The 31-year-old Hester is the NFL’s all-time record holder in kick return touchdowns, and last year he led the league in kickoff return yards. Hester has also played wide receiver and even played some cornerback early in his NFL career, but the Bears had him exclusively on special teams last year, and that was going to be his role in Atlanta as well, but apparently the team didn't feel that warranted a roster spot.

The Bills had a return specialist on the roster in Marcus Thigpen, so they clearly value the role. Hester will take Thigpen's roster spot.
