Player of the Game: Damon Price-HB-FR(Rs)-8car-40yds-3tds

Game Notes: The annual Georgia-Florida game always offers some great story lines. This years game marks the second season that the game has moved back to an on campus game after the contract with the City of Jacksonville ended. Both schools agreed that moving away from the aging Jaguar Stadium was the best move. The NFL Jacksonville Jaguars moved out of the stadium four years ago when the team moved to Orlando. Since that time the city has done little to the stadium but is planning on making some renovations to lure the game back to Jacksonville.

This years game was played in Athens and marked the 2nd start of the Josh Carter era, started week 2 before getting replaced for Martin. This is also the first year since 2019 that both teams have been ranked. The Gators had high hopes entering the year lead by senior quarterback Kenny Matthews and senior tailback Larry Cooper, both are 1st team All-SEC. The Bulldogs would strike first with a 3 yard Diggs touchdown run, but the Gators answered back with a 45 yard Cooper run to tie the game up. On the next position the Gator defense would get after Josh Carter sacking him on the 1 yard line on 2nd down before getting a safety on 3rd down when Carter got sacked trying to role out in the end zone. The drive would be costly for the Bulldogs when on a first down run Diggs was injured with what appeared to be a concussion; he would not return.

With Diggs out for the game and young Carter looking like a freshman the Bulldogs need someone to step up. Red shirt freshman tailback Damon Price took advantage of the opportunity when he scored his first of three rushing touchdowns on the next Bulldog drive. Down 16-14 Carter took Georgia down field for a 27 yard touchdown pass to Reggie Heard in the back corner of the end zone. The seemed to be the spark Georgia needed as the defense picked off Matthews for what would be the first of five on the day when senior James Hicks got his first pick of the year and returned it for 6. In fact Matthews turnovers would become the storyline of the game. Hicks picked him off a second time while Brandon Herring got two picks of his own and sophomore middle linebacker Reggie Pittman got his first of the year in only his second game from suspension. The 5 picks would end Matthews Heisman hopes and give him a 0-3 record against Georgia in his career. Jason Carter threw for 300 yards in his first game replacing the injured Martin but he threw 2 picks that could have been touchdowns causing concern among the Georgia coaching staff.

Player of the Game: Stephen Diggs-SR(Rs) HB-20car-62yds-2TD

Game Notes: Former Georgia defensive coordinator, Isaiah Thomas (DC from 2021-2024), traveled back to Athens for the first time to face the team he once coached. The Tigers have struggled this year on defense ranking 100th or worse in all four major categories. The Tiger offense is still a force of nature under Rhett Lashlee but a lack of defense has caused the once mighty Tigers to struggle to win games since Thomas took over as head coach.

The Bulldogs coming off the bye week looked dialed in early. Quarterback Jason Carter found freshman receiver Todd Holloway for a 8 yard score on the games opening drive. He then hit red shirt freshman Chad Johnson for a 4 yard score on the next drive giving the Bulldogs a 14-0 lead. Both team exchanged field goals early in the second quarter before the Tigers were able to find the end zone for the first time on a 19 yard run by senior quarterback Devon Lamb, who was questionable before the game having suffered an arm injury back in week 2 causing him to miss the next 7 games. With the score 17-10 the Bulldogs went on a clock killing drive of 15 plays and 87 yards ending in a Diggs touchdown run from 7 yards out to end the half and give the Bulldogs a 24-10 halftime lead.
The Tigers could not get anything going as Lamb seemed to still be favoring that arm preventing him from throwing accurate passes that he is accustomed to throwing. When a shark smells blood in the water they strike and that is what the Bulldog defense did in the second half holding the Tigers to just 3 points. Red shirt sophomore safety and kick return specialist Alex Rivers returned another kickoff for a score giving him 6 on the year. Carter looked like a different quarterback today throwing for 275 yards and 3 touchdowns but he did throw 2 picks in the fourth. The Bulldogs are now sitting at 10-0 on the season and with one game left in SEC play looking at another trip to the Georgia Dome for their 8th SEC title in a row.

Nov 14, 2026 Boise St 7 @ #1UGA 31

Player of the Game: Tony Barrow-DE SR(Rs)-7tkls-6tfls-4.0sks

Game Notes: This game was a story of two halves of football. The first half was about dropped passes and missed opportunities. Josh Carter started the game 0-7 but it was his receivers that let him down. Freshman Todd Holloway had 3 drops on the first two possessions alone. One of Holloway’s drops was on a wide open deep post that would have been an easy six point with his speed. Holloway was not the only one dropping passes but team receptions leader Chad Johnson came down with a case of the stone hands as well. At one point Carter walk past Holloway on the sideline as Holloway was trying to talk to him to sit on the bench alone. This was the first time all season Georgia was held scoreless in the first quarter. In fact it was not until late in the second quarter that Georgia converted on a 3rd and goal for a 7 yard touchdown pass from Carter to sophomore walk-on receiver Darren Smith.

The second half saw that case of stone hands cured as Carter was able to get Johnson and Holloway going along with sophomore tightend Reggie Heard. The real storyline of the second half was the NCAA career touchdown record getting broken by Stephen Diggs. The record of 77 career touchdowns held by former Wisconsin running back Monty Ball was broken when Diggs scored from 4 yards out giving him 78 career touchdowns and his team a 14-7 lead. Carter would throw two more touchdown passes in the half to Heard and freshman receiver Calvin Jackson, his first career touchdown reception. The Bulldog defense continued to get pressure on every pass play and held Boise State to just 61 total rushing yards, mostly due to 12 sacks. Boise just didn’t have the horses to match up with Georgia the entire game as they looked like they were out of gas by the forth quarter.

After the game question quickly turned to the ongoing NCAA investigation. Coach Murray refused to answer any questions but said “This team and staff is focused on our last SEC game next week against Kentucky then Senior Day against Georgia Tech.”

Re: Picking Up the Pieces…A different type of NCAA 14 dynasty

Guys as always thanks for reading and following. I have some big news coming next week so keep following, it's going to change everything.

On a side note I hated to end R.J. Martin's career but after missing games half the season in back-to-back seasons I thought it would be realistic move. I really liked playing with him because he was a 3 star guy that I never planned on playing, but he played so well in mop up time as a true freshman I had to red shirt him to give him 2 years to start.

I am also trying to get my sliders to provide closer games. I started using some posted by jp and like how they are playing but I keep getting this "hitting the wall" feel from the CPU in the 2nd half of games. Going to try something new before the season ends.
