Stories From Laguna Beach~ A Laguna Beach Dynasty

Manatupa, Hawaii isnʻt a place big on dreams. Similar to Odessa, Texas the town consists mainly of low-income, hard working Hawaiians. Even more similar to Odessa is the fact that the town revolves around the local football team. However, due to the low employment rates many families are moving from Manatupa. This leads to the potential of charging the residents to see their beloved Cardinals. Below is additional information of the school.

Name: Laguna Beach High School
Location: Manatupa, Hawaii
School Mascot: Cardinals
School Sports: Basketball, Football, Baseball
School Rankings:
On a Scale of 1-10.

Academics: 4
Athletics: 3
Arts: 1
Funding: 2
Materials: 3
Technology: 1
Teachers: 3

Overall, below average high school.

Academics Overview:

Located near the prestinge Laguna Beach, on the big island , in Hawaii the high school lacks funding to improve the academics for the students. Founded in 1982, the high school has been a popular learning centre for low income families in Manatupa. With the school located so close to the beach, students at the school are known to skip classes, leading to the low SAT scores along with other things. However, many families are happy to have sent their children to school at Laguna. The biggest accomplishment of an alumni at the school belongs to Mathew Apuli, who is an accomplished photographer currently living in Houston, Texas.

Athletics Overview:

Athletics at Laguna Beach have reached rock bottom. With the school having so little funding, the only luxury for the sports team is when the beloved football team travels to Texas to take on a local school. However, the trip is on the verge of being cancelled. The experience is so bad, AD Martin Mapuche is considering charging people to come to the football games. Hope is dwindling down at Laguna Beach.

So, enjoy.

Meet Some Key Cardinals

Milo Tupolani: This kid is a true Cardinal. He puts his heart and soul into every throw, decision and workout. 100% hustle. He still has dreams of going pro. The only downside to this kid is, his size. If he can use his “shiftiness” to his advantage, watch out Hawaiʻi.

Colton Anuthamura: This guy is a block of marble. At 240 lbs. many call him fat, his coaches call him muscle. Heʻs got the power of a semi-truck, ironically what his father does for a living. Itʻs going to be a nightmare for defensive backs to try to bring this guy down. However, with such incredible size comes, a lack of speed. If he can overcome his lack of speed, good luck stopping Laguna.

Babatunde Shackamera: When you look at Babatunde Shackamera you see two things. That wonderful name and blistering speed. If Tupolani can find this guy downfield, Laguna could be state champions easily. Unfortunately Babatunde canʻt exactly catch a ball as well as youʻd like. If he gets rid of his rock hands, 4 star talent at Laguna.

Rian Hardy: This kid can lay the hit-stick. He absolutely destroys quarterbacks at the left end position. However a lack of speed makes him unlikely to be able to use that Ray Lewis esque power.

Omar Coley: What a guy. This kid was born to play football. He is a jack of all trades but, endurance is a major lack. He gives 110% for 3 downs and then takes a seat. He said he has worked on endurance but many students say theyʻve only seen work on partying. If he can be remoulded he could be another 4 star talent.

Earvin Morgan: Earvin is every coaches dream at the cornerback position. He has excellent man and zone coverage as well as incredible speeds. With such incredible speed, many think he can run his way off of the Island and into the Olympics, he that quick. However, like Omar Coley football might not always seem the major focus of his life. He needs to take a step back and realize how good he is, to get even better.

Thank you sir, I got the idea from reading Friday Night Lights and seeing the different ways that football shaped the town so, I felt compelled to create my own fictional football crazy town.

Re: Stories From Laguna Beach~ A Laguna Beach Dynasty

So, I finally found high school teams on teambuilder that I'd be able to use so, expect games on Friday. I might get a storyline post tonight. I'll try to get a storyline post up every Monday, Wednesday. Potentially, if you guys would like, I could have a post every day. So, finally we can begin.

Entry:1
September 1st, 2014

Martin Hayes, athletic director of Laguna Beach, sat hunched over piles of paper gathered on his large oak coloured desk. He would occasionally raise his head having a chuckle or two just looking at his mountains of paper work. He knew that Laguna was in trouble when he took this job two years ago, but not in this much trouble. The school and community was losing money paying for everything. Everyone in the town had felt neglected by anyone in authority. The only escape that they really had was every Friday when the Varsity team walked on the field under the fluorescent glare of the lights. It was the one place were everyone could forget about life for a while. It was all that Laguna had. He had forced himself not to steal money from the poor of Laguna by charging them just to watch their only joy. However, with the school in a massive hole he felt no other choice. Finally he decided he couldnʻt do it. The contemplation of the decision kept waying on his mind. The school was no longer an institute for learning, it was the centre of the community.

Milo Tupolani sat quietly in his bed, waiting for the first signs of life to wake up. He knew the responsibility on this year rested on his fragile shoulders. At 5ʻ10” he had looked up to everyone all of his life. He was always given a reason to give up but never gave in. Since his family had moved from Indonesia at the age of 6 he knew he wanted to be a football player. He dreamed of walking out of a tunnel in front of thousands every Sunday to play a game he had spent his whole life admiring. Unfortunately for him, he was stuck playing for Laguna Beach, a team that went 1-8 last season with him sitting on the bench. However, last year he did get a reasonable amount of playing time. Usually after the starter, Miles Franch, threw his 3 interception on the day or when the game was out of hand, but he did get his chances. Throwing for 576 yards, 3 touchdowns and 56 of 89 for passing, he thought he played well. The scouts of colleges thought otherwise. He had received a single offer from a division 3 team in Idaho, nothing to leave home for. He slowly rose from his bed and headed to the field house to continue his campaign to be looked up to.
