Game Notes
Oct 11 - This will be a rare home game for the Titans before they embark on another 3 game away run. The Titans won despite their struggles last week against the Jaguars, the Panthers lost an incredibly close game against Tampa Bay.
Titans rookie quarterback Dwight Kenny has struggled to convert chances into points in the last few games but he will need to be on top form against a great defense featuring All-Pro Luke Kuechly and ball hawks in the secondary. This will also be a chance for running back Roy Helu Jr to win the starting role.

Carolina Kick The Winner In Defensive Battle
Carolina Panthers 13 - 10 Tennessee Titans
Carolina Panthers came out on top this week in a heated defensive battle that saw both teams play to a stand-still, apart from two massive plays. Thankfully for Carolina they were able to get the ball with enough time on the clock to drive down the field and kick the winning points as time expired. The Titans' defense, which had protected home field well for most of the game, looked tired and defeated on the last drive and just seemed to fold after an exhausting and physical game.
Unfortunately for the Titans their defense's fatal flaw was exposed again after the Panthers lined up on the 8 yard line and Jacquizz Rodgers broke off a 92 yard run for a touchdown, giving the Panthers the go ahead score. Rush defense has been a real area of concern and it seems like every team has been able to get a long run or two against a normally stout front seven. With another 3 games until the bye week it's something that the Titans need to address sooner rather than later.
The Titans offense suffered a little from a lackluster performance by Roy Helu Jr, who struggled in the first half of the game. Rookie quarterback Dwight Kenny also made a costly error as he threw an interception at the goal-line in the 3rd quarter, setting up Rodgers touchdown. However there was a flash of brilliance when the Titans were chasing the game as Kenny found Da'Rick Rogers open in the end zone for a 43 yard touchdown. That was only Kenny's second touchdown on the year and his first to a wide receiver. Unfortunately the Panthers defense keyed in heavily on full back Benjamin Fuller and tight end Rob Housler which stopped them being able to make any significant gains.

Game Notes
Oct 18 - The Tennessee Titans are coming off a very close loss to the Carolina Panthers and start a 3 game road streak against the struggling Atlanta Falcons, who have yet to win a game.
The Falcons have a number of high profile injuries on defense and that could hamper them in this match. Also the loss of right tackle Jake Matthews will probably be highly felt against the aggressive Titans defense.
For the Titans the key will be to stop the run and to win in the trenches. It is time for one of the more talented offensive lines in the NFL to step forward and really establish themselves.

Kenny Injured In Titans Win
Tennessee Titans 24 - 20 Atlanta Falcons
Titan fans' hearts stopped when Dwight Kenny, Tennessee's rookie quarterback and first round pick, left the field in the third quarter with the Titans behind, holding his shoulder in obvious pain. Kenny had just been drilled off the ball by Falcons defensive tackle Ra'Shede Hageman after throwing a pass to Justin Hunter. There was no penalty called on the play but the hit did seem to come a little late. Thankfully for Titans fans everywhere it was just ruled as a mild sprain and it is unlikely that he will miss next week's game against the Texans. After receiving the good news all eyes turned to back-up quarterback Zach Mettenberger as he drove the team to an exciting forth quarter comeback win.
Up until that point Kenny had had a very steady game, picking up over 150 yards and a touchdown but also turning over the ball as well. Mettenberger had a good performance in relief, showing some of the inaccuracies and ball security issues that cost him the starting job but also doing enough to secure the win. After the Falcons had taken a 10 point lead in the forth quarter Mettenberger drove the ball down the field, using full back Benjamin Fuller as a wrecking ball on 3rd and 4th down situations to pick up short yards. Mettenberger found rookie wide receiver Rowan McClure lurking in the corner of the end-zone to bring the game to within touching distance. With only a minute left on the clock the former LSU signal caller took the team to the redzone and then found Fuller open for the winning score.
Thankfully for the Titans defense they had a much better day against a sluggish Falcons rushing attack. Even though Devonta Freeman was able to muster up a touchdown, it didn't come from a long run and the front seven as a whole unit were able to keep Freeman down to below 4 yards per carry. Unfortunately for the Titans offense this was the same for them and, despite some good scrambles from the two quarterbacks, the rushing attack struggled with Roy Helu Jr only managing a lethargic 3.1 yards per carry. It seems like no matter who is running the ball for them, no-one is able to pick up consistent yards and that trend doesn't look like it is going to change.
