Thank you for the kind words my friend and for checking in. It was definitely a tough loss to stomach especially since we had been leading for the majority of it. I really thought we were going to pull it off but our defense just couldn't stop them. We have to bounce back quickly though as Central Michigan will be a big game in terms of conference positioning and recruiting since we are in-state rivals. Hope you continue to follow along and enjoy this!

Too bad Sherrer's big day was wasted in a loss. Was Iannotti inaccurate or was it mostly drops? Even when you are running the ball well, tough to win/close out a game when those incompletions are stopping the clock.
Akron was probably the worst MAC team we will face, although Ball State looks to be struggling pretty badly this year as well. We have a really tough time keeping up with a lot of these spread no huddle offenses. The defense just isn't there yet. We are weak along the line and slow in the secondary. Especially against Toledo who had an all star running back, the second I start focusing on him, they spread me out with a four wide look and pass all over me. I have a vision of what I want the defense to look like in the future and we will get there. I have a couple of high school prospects I am hoping to land who would be steps in the right direction.
As much as the loss to Toledo hurt, it hurt that much more because of how well Sherrer played. Just a record breaking day and to have it not be enough was really painful. Iannotti didn't play as bad as the stat line indicates. Our offensive line was giving up a lot of pressure so he was getting hit on throws and having them batted down at the line. Luckily we only have one senior on the offensive line so that group should be able to continue to improve down the road. Thank you for checking in man and the fantastic feedback!!

Thanks Matt! I really appreciate the compliment, especially from someone as talented as yourself. Losing Gillett early in the season hurt, but to be honest I am really liking Iannotti and I think he will be the future for us. Hope you continue to enjoy the thread and check in!
Eagles Add Parks at Tailback -- Three star halfback Brian Parks (6-1, 211 lbs) became the second recruit of the Eagles 2012 class. The Abbotsford, Canada native had been talking with the Eastern Michigan coaching staff for five weeks before accepting the scholarship offer. He did not take an official visit with the Eagles. Parks was also being pursued by BYU and Utah.
Analysis -- With both Dominique Sherrer and Corey Welch graduating in the spring, halfback is a big concern for the Eagles heading into the 2012 season. With only two halfbacks on the roster (redshirt sophomore Joe Fleming and currently redshirted freshman Bronson Hill), the position is wide open. Fleming will be the only halfback on the roster with any game experience.
A four year starter for Abbotsford Collegiate, Parks played both sides of the ball as a tailback and linebacker. Despite not possessing great speed, Parks is relatively shifty and has good strength to run through arm tackles. He lacks big play explosion though and projects to be more of a power back. He has a good chance of seeing significant playing time his freshman season unless another back is signed. Parks was ranked by rivals.com as the 86th best running back and 1012th prospect overall.
Thank you sir! I had a lot of fun creating that in HTML. I am slowly starting to learn my way around it some. Thank you for checking in and continuing to follow along. I am hoping to play the Central Michigan game when I get off work around 3pm today.
Year 1 (2011), Game 7, Eastern Michigan at Central Michigan
EMU senior tailback Corey Welch took home player of the game honors for his 74 yard, two touchdown performance.
Dynamic Duo: Sherrer and Welch Lead Eastern Michigan to 31-28 Win Over Chippewas
Kicker Sean Graham kicks 18 yard field goal as time expires to give Eagles win over in-state rival | Sherrer and Welch combine for 277 yards and 2 TD in win | Eastern Michigan to face second rival in a row as Western Michigan comes calling next week.
AP Mt. Pleasant – The Eastern Michigan Eagles picked up their second conference win of the season, as a field goal as time expired lifted them to a 31-28 win over the rival Chippewas. The Eagles were carried by the spectacular play of senior HB Dominique Sherrer and HB Corey Welch. The duo combined for 277 yards and two scores. Welch took home player of the game honors for his 74 yard, two touchdown contribution. For Central Michigan, junior redshirt QB Ryan Radcliff had a fantastic outing throwing for 240 yards and four scores.
By Inches: Wide receiver Kinsman Thomas takes a fourth down screen pass into the endzone.
Despite the success on the ground Eastern Michigan struggled to get any sort of passing attack going. True freshman QB Mark Iannotti was forced from the contest in the first half after suffering a back spasm. He is not expected to miss any additional time with the injury. The passing woes cannot fall solely on the young signal callers though as once again the pass blocking was terrible, allowing five sacks. Central Michigan DE Joe Kinville wrecked havoc with three sacks on the day. The Eastern Michigan receiving corps had four drops on the day as well.
The Eastern Michigan defense, who was shredded last week by the no huddle spread offense of Toledo, again had to face a similar passing attack. Despite surrendering four passing touchdowns, the unit did a good job playing with a bend but don't break mentality. They managed to keep the game within a single score for the entire contest. Eagles junior CB Ja'Ron Gillepsie got in on the scoring in the first quarter as he took a wayward Radcliff pass 79 yards the opposite direction for a score.
"It is always special to get a win over a rival, especially on the road. I was happy with our ground game but our passing attack has got to improve. We can't expect Sherrer and Welch to keep having career games week in and week out just to keep us in games." -- Eagles Head Coach Dan Clayton
Eastern Michigan (4-3) will need to keep the momentum going as they head back home to Ypsilanti next week to take on another rival, the Western Michigan Broncos. The Broncos (2-5) are currently struggling as they are on a four game losing streak. They are lead on offense by dual threat junior QB Alex Carder (1318 yards, 7 TD, 8 INT). Sophomore HB Tevin Drake will remain sidelined with a strained back. The Eagles will instead need to focus on slowing down senior HB Aaron Winchester (431 yards, 5 TD) who continues to start in Drake's place. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM EST.

Re: A Rising Storm in the North | Cheese's Eastern Michigan Dynasty
Welch looks almost like he's trying to do the Marshawn Lynch backwards dive into the end zone in that picture.
When do Northern Illinois and Toledo play each other? I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but if you can win the next four (which will be difficult given your team), that last game with NIU could be for the MAC West title.
