Coach Fig Newton's Louisville Cardinals

"Welcome to Late Kick Live with Josh Pate. We are high above a very chilly Nashville, Tennessee. Let's get right into the show. First, we have to discuss the #1 team in the country, the Louisville Cardinals. They have rolled every single team on their schedule, out of conference and Big East games alike. Then, a 2-9 East Carolina team came to Louisville to receive yet another thrashing by the Cards. What if I told you a QB went 29 of 41 for 301 yards? What if I told you that a team went down the field on their first possession in five plays and under two minutes and put seven points on the board? And you would say, "Of course, what did you expect Louisville to do to this ECU team?" "Nah, no, nope. This is what ECU did to Louisville. The score at the half was 14-7, Louisville leading, and seven of those points were because a busted coverage TD by the Cards as the clock hit all zeroes right at the break. The Cards QB, Jerry Porter, went 20 of 34 for 370 yards, 4 TD's, and 3 picks. The 35-17 score is no way an indication of how close this game was. Now to the good news: Louisville has wrapped up a perfect regular season, are Big East South Champions, and can become Big East champs for the second year in a row, and a chance at a BCS National Title. It looks like the Cards will be facing Rutgers in the Big East Championship. And guess who will be there for this game? Yes! We will be there with all the coverage and have our reactions on next week's show."

Re: Coach Fig Newton's Louisville Cardinals

"And we're off with Late Kick Live with Josh Pate. Tonight, fans, we are coming to you from a cold, snowy night in Nashville, Tennessee. Wow, do we have a show for you. We told you that we would be bringing you the outcome of the Big East Championship Game involving the #1 team in the land, the Louisville Cardinals. And that is exactly what we are going to do... right now. This game surely didn't start out like Louisville was the #1 team in the country. A pick six put Rutgers up 7-0. Jerry Porter finally got dialed in and put the Cards up 14-7. Fans, I can't tell you the last time the Cardinals gave up a long bomb for a TD. Well, now I can. Marcus Craig caught a 70 yard TD from Scott Jude to tie it up and 14 at the end of the first quarter. Then, it happened. Coach Fig Newton must have made the right adjustments... on offense and defense... for the rest... of... the... game. The Scarlet Knights didn't score another point. Louisville's defense racked up four interceptions, four sacks, and only allowed Rutgers to go 4 of 11 on 3rd downs. Cards QB Jerry Porter went 19 of 27 for 6 TD's and 3 picks. Now, what say you? We all know the Big East is probably the weakest P5 conference in FBS. Can an undefeated Louisville team win the BCS national title? We will find out and have all the news for you in a few weeks."

Re: Coach Fig Newton's Louisville Cardinals

"I am Josh Pate, and this is Late Kick Live high above a jumpy Nashville, Tennessee. Well, folks, it is all settled. We have all the bowl games set. We have who will be in the BCS National Title Game. We have a lot to go over, so let's get to it. First off, let's go over all the drama of the conference championship games that had an effect on #1 vs. #2. The Big Ten Championship had #2 in the BCS Wisconsin with a 9-2 (6-2) record vs. #11 in the BCS Michigan State with a 9-2 (7-1) record. Looks like all Wisconsin had to do was win and be in. Now, think about this fans. In the SEC, Tennessee and LSU each had one loss, but Wisconsin was still sitting at #2. With a good win, either team could possibly jump the Badgers. So, #3 Tennessee 11-1 (7-1) vs. #6 LSU 10-1 (7-1) for the SEC Championship. LSU prevails with a commanding 27-3 victory. Let's get back to Wisconsin and Michigan State. The Spartans get a 38-31 win and are off to the Rose Bowl. And LSU jumps all the way from #6 to #2. Your BCS title game is the #1 Cardinals vs. the #2 Tigers. Let's preview this game. We know the passing attack Louisville possesses ranked #3 in the country with 345 passing yards per game. Now, LSU brings the #1 pass defense to the table only allowing 138 passing yards per game. It will be the Cardinals #1 rush defense against the Tigers #10 rushing offense. Both teams are ranked very closely in points per game around 40 and total offense with over 410 yards per game. This is going to be a battle of what one team excels in, the other team is great at stopping it. We will be there on the field fans. Will the mighty SEC continue to be the mighty SEC, or will the Big East take their place at the podium? Stay tuned..."

Re: Coach Fig Newton's Louisville Cardinals

"We are coming to you from a semi-freezing Nashville, Tennessee. This is Late Kick Live with me, Josh Pate. And just like that, the BCS National Championship is over, and whoa, do we have some things to discuss here. Just go ahead and put up the stats. All I will say about this game: you expected the Louisville offense to show up, you knew the Louisville offense would show up. But guess who showed up even more? That Louisville defense. This Cardinals' defense allowed no points until the 4th quarter. The Louisville defense forced three interceptions. The offense did the job in a number of ways. Taking care of the ball, sustaining long drives, and scoring on these drives. Speaking of long drives, the Cardinals held onto the ball for close to 40 minutes. Coach Newton has done a fine job with this Louisville team. Two Big East championships, an Orange Bowl win, a BCS National Title, and the nation's longest winning streak. Where do the Louisville Cardinals go from here? Where does Coach Fig Newton go? All of my intel says he stays put. All of these things will be answered next season. That's all for tonight fans. See you next season."

Re: Coach Fig Newton's Louisville Cardinals

"Live from high atop Nashville, Tennessee. Late Kick Live with Josh Pate. We have the Kentucky/Louisville rivalry, the Governor's Cup. You will not believe some of the stats from this game. A lot of these are paper pop stats. No, Kentucky did not come out victorious. You should have seen this Kentucky defense though. But guess what was better? The Louisville defense. Put the stats up on the screen and take a look at these. Yes, Porter had 4 TD's. but he also threw 4 picks. There was a fumble by Sears that was scooped up and returned for a Kentucky TD. How does Louisville have 4 picks and a fumble for a Kentucky scoop and score possibly win this game? Kentucky had absolutely nothing on offense and what little the Wildcats did have, the Cardinals took it away. No Kentucky running game, a QB that had 68 yards passing. This game was ugly. I mean U-G-L-Y. A lot of rivalry games are. A total of 8 QB sacks and 5 picks. I know that Porter is prone to throw picks, but this player steps up on the other side of the passing game. Porter threw for 4 TD's and 384 yards. Let's check some of the predictions and rate them on the boldness scale. Tim from Boston, Massachusetts tweets, "Louisville will not win the Big East this season and will have at least 2 losses." I am going to give that a 9 on the boldness scale. This Cardinals team has won the Big East two seasons in a row and snagged a national title. Oh yeah, and the longest winning streak in college football. That is all we have time for tonight fans. See you next Sunday."
