Ida-who?
Idaho gets vandalized by the Red Wolves defense after 4 turnovers, Arkansas State moves to 4-1

Let's just say Idaho is bad... Really bad... Michael Gordon rumbled for 159 yards and 2 scores on only 16 carries. Fredi Knighten had an off day by his standards throwing for 189 and 2 picks.

The first quarter fooled most viewers as Arkansas State jumped out to a 7-0 lead after a Fredi Knighten read option keep, that would end up being the only score in the 1st quarter.

The Red Wolves would tack on another score after a 5 yard Darion Griswald rushing touchdown, putting them up 14-0 with 4 minutes left in the first half.

That's when Idaho started moving the football. They drove the ball 76 yards in 8 plays and ended the drive with a 36 yard Austin Rehkow field goal.

Arkansas State wouldn't be done though as they tacked on another touchdown with another Fredi Knighten keep, this one from 8 yards out.

Half: ARK ST 28, Idaho 3

The third quarter is when the Arkansas State defense started to fly around! Safety Charleston Girley picked off a Linehan pass and took it 47 yards to the house.

Arkansas State would then score again on a 1 yard Michael Gordon score. Austin Rehkow would hit another field goal, this one from 23 to make the score 42-6; Arkansas State.

The fourth quarter would only have one score, a 31 yard scamper by Michael Gordon to put the game FAR out of reach.

Chewed up!

Wolves eat Aggies alive as Gordon runs for 147 and 2 scores.
 photo 068BB21A-924D-4EE4-9C29-94D38B6F99D1_zpspnexahew.jpg

Early on it was anyone's game as both teams scored on their opening drives. Arkansas State's Michael Gordon plunged in from 2 yards out to put the Wolves up 7. Then NMSU's Xavier Hall scampered in for 6.

Disaster hit NMSU as their star tailback Larry Rose lll went down with a concussion and wouldn't return.

With a minute left in the first quarter Arkansas State drove down the field and capped it off with another Gordon run, this time from 8.

Early in the second NMSU kicker Alex Louthan hit a 41 yard to field goal to bring his team within 4. Arkansas State would quickly change that with a Leonard Ferguson 31 yarder, putting them up 7 with 6:09 left in the half.

The Aggies would tie the game up with a 2 yard receiving touchdown by Hall. That wasn't the end of the scoring though, with 0:14 on the clock Fredi Knighten found Darion Griswald in the end zone to put the Wolves up 24-17 going into the half.

Half: ARK ST 24- NMSU 17

Arkansas State scored first in the second half on a 10 yard J.D McKissic jet sweep touchdown to put them up 14. They would extend their lead with another Darion Griswold grab.

Tyler Rogers wasn't finished though, he punched it in from 6 yards out on a quarterback keeper. Arlansas State would end the 3rd quarter scoring with a 45 yard field goal, score 41-24 Wolves.

I might sound like a broken record but the quarter started off with another Arkansas State score as Knighten connected with Gordon for 13. "Cough cough dagger."

The Aggies would tack on a garbage touchdown against the second team on a 28 yard pass from Rogers to Teldrick Morgan.

State goes to 5-1!!

UTEP to join Sun Belt Conference; starting in the 2016-2017 season.

It was announced early this morning that The University of Texas at El Paso will be moving to the Sun Belt Conference for the start of the 2016-2017 football season. At this point in time Football is the only sport that is switching conferences as all other will remain in Conference USA until further notice.

UTEP decided to leave Conference USA to seek more competitive teams. UTEP Football has fallen on some hard times as they haven't won a conference championship in 15 years. UTSA and North Texas are also rumored to be switching conferences as well but no strong evidence has been found.

It also fits well that one of UTEP's 3 rivals, New Mexico State, plays in the Sun Belt. With UTEP joining, the Sun Belt will split into 2 divisions (East and West). The Sun Belt is still looking for 2 more teams by the 2017-2018 season, which will put them at 12.

Cornhuskers land #1 recruit

It was announced earlier today that the #1 recruit in the nation, Athlete- Chris Young, has verbally committed to the University of Nebraska. He announced this at a press conference at his high school in Encinitas, California.

The High School Quarterback still doesn't know what position he'll play in college as he had Division 1 offers for Free Safety and Quarterback. ESPN insider Todd McShay asked him why he chose Nebraska and Young responded with:

"Well, even though I live in California my family is centered around Nebraska Athletics. My mother excelled in swimming there in the late 80's and my father played basketball there so it just feels right to go to Nebraska, it's been a dream of mind for as long as I could remember."

Young isn't the only highly ranked recruit that Nebraska's interested in. Nebraska is the #1 school for the #5 runningback in the nation, James Miller. In 2-3 years we might see the Cornhuskers raising a crystal ball...
