Eastern Michigan hires Dustin Blankenship to be new Football Coach

It was announced early this morning that the long time Quarterback Coach from the University of Minnesota has been chosen to be the Head Coach of the football program. Blankenship was the Quarterback Coach for the last 24 years at Minnesota and is a Golden Gopher Alumni.

The 55 year old said at his introduction press conference that he will be running a Pro-Style offense and a 4-2-5 defense. He'll have some talent to work with on the defensive side of the ball as DE Pat O'Connor ranked in at #12 on the top 70 MAC football players. Linebacker Great Ibe was ranked #24 on that list as well. Maybe this Golden Gopher is what the Eagles have been waiting for!

A win is a win!
Eagles avoid late scare; beat Dartmouth by 7.


QB Reginald Bell Jr. finding open field on his game-winning 67 yard touchdown run.

This almost went horribly wrong... Dartmouth just wouldn't go away. The scoring started off early as Eastern Michigan's Shaq Vann took the opening kickoff 99 yards to the house! Dartmouth didn't come to get destroyed though as they scored on their first drive. Junior quarterback Derrick Jefferson punched it in for the Big Green on a 4 yard read option keep. The first quarter scoring wasn't finished yet as Reginald Bell Jr. found his 2nd string tight end Sam Browning in the endzone from 7 yards out to put EMU up 14-7 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was pretty uneventful as both teams managed only 3 points. EMU's Dylan Mulder hit one from 34 yards to put his Eagles up 10. Before the end of the half Big Green kicker Francis Tyler snuck one in from 49! At the half the Eagles were up 17-10.

The third quarter is where the Big Green started to claw their way back into this one, starting with a 4 yard pass from Jefferson to fullback Sheldon Gshwend to tie the game up. Dartmouth wasn't done their as they struck with an 11 yard pass from Jefferson to tight end Lucky Smith to take the lead late in the third.

After another great Vann return, EMU set up shop at the 40. It only took them 24 seconds to score as tailback Darius Jackson rumbled in from 9 yards out to tie the game up 24 a piece heading into the 4th.

The 4th quarter only had one score, but it was the difference. After multiple failed drives by each team the game was anyone's. Then, Bell Jr. struck. He kept on a triple option and rumbled untouched for 67 yards and the game winning score.
