Re: Fumbling Fools :: New York Jets (Madden 16)

Week Four:

Dolphins Kick to Win in Soccer City!
Field goals are the name of the day as Miami triumph in Wembley classic

LON - Wembley way for the NFL as the Jets and Dolphins faced off in the opening game in this years UK calendar, as the two AFC East rivals got a chance to make their mark on the division.

With the weather looking good, the signs were that we could get an offensive showdown, with both teams having go-to weapons on display. However the game itself came down to who was best at kicking, something the London fans are used to at Wembley, albeit when watching their beloved 'Soccer'.

Miami would race to the early lead, putting up 13pts before the Jets could respond as Greg Jennings would race into the endzone for the teams solitary TD, after busting through a couple of flailing grabs.

In response the Jets saw Fitzpatrick and Smith combine twice, as 2 scores from the Jets put them in the lead early in the 4th quarter. Yet from there on in it was a case of who could kick best and with the Jets missing one of their two field goal efforts, it would be the last minute try from Sturgis that eventually clinched the game.

New York would have one more possession to play out and needed just to get in field goal range. Alas with no timeouts and a rush offense, their chance would fizzle out with Fitzpatrick over-throwing Owusu on 4th and long.

Post Game:
Todd Bowles (NYJ): "Its a long week for both teams having to travel here, setup a new camp and prepare. But we cant make that excuse, we had our moments and we will get punished if we allow teams to get within range of a field goal"

Joe Philben (MIA): "Id like to think we got our rewards out there for being persistent and remaining patient. I know some people want you to go in all guns blazing, but we had a game to win and as long as we kept tickling the scoreboard, then good things will happen. Im sure the Jets will believe this is one that got away from them, but thats for them to reflect on"

:: AROUND THE NFL ::

Highlights:

Perfection Remains a Dream for 3!
3 teams remain untouched so far after Week 4 as the Ravens, Redskins and Cardinals all post perfect 4-0 records. Week 5 will prove a big test if all or any of these teams can come away 5-0 as the Ravens face division rival Cleveland, Washington look favorite to beat the Falcons in Atlanta, whilst Detroit stand in the way of Arizona.

Flacco finds comfort in Veterans
Joe Flacco has surprised many with his hot start by hitting 1500 yards already in 4 showings. He has been helped in no small part by the Ravens acquisition of free agent Wes Welker, as the experienced receiver is part of a 2-man attack with Steve Smith, combining for just shy of 1000 of those receiving yards.

Sproles is Back!
The Eagles were hit hard by the injury to DeMarco Murray early in the campaign, however Darren Sproles has bounced back to life and has hit 400 yards rushing, reverting to his former self and already usurping his 2014 numbers in just 4 weeks.

Lowlights:

Winning Dont Come Easy!
On any given Sunday is a motto often associated with the NFL, however there are 6 teams still waiting for 'that Sunday' as they linger at 0-4 and are almost extinct from the season altogether.

Buffalo, Cleveland, Dallas, Chicago, Minnesota and St. Louis all have a long road back if they are to salvage anything from their woeful starts to 2015.

Woodson Waived!
17 years of experience and class holds no value anymore as future Hall of Famer Charles Woodson has been shown the door by the Oakland Raiders, with the veteran now staring at oblivion to end his fine career. This surprise move by the franchise has left fans in anger at the decision, with #WoodsonISOakland trending on Twitter.

Peterson Misses Another Season
Minnesota fans may be forgiven for feeling a bit down as after Peterson returned to the team following his suspension for off the field transgressions, he has bust his foot after looking like returning to his previous form.

Peterson who sits 5th in the Rushing category for the league (342yds), suffered a foot stress fracture in the Vikings loss to the Broncos and is slated for 14 weeks on the sideline, effectively ending his season bar the Vikings having a miracle!
