Re: Year of the Ram - A St. Louis Rams Dynasty (M16)

Week 08 - Power Rankings

The Kansas City Chiefs finally fell from heaven in their London game against the Detroit Lions, who made a big leap in both these rankings and the NFC North, where they kept on a neck-to-neck race with the Packers. With the loss, the Chiefs slipped some positions and, most important, allowed the San Diego Chargers to close the one game gap between them.

And what about these New York Giants? Eli Manning is perfectly impersonating a fellow 2004-class QB by having a revival season when everyone was already counting him out. Eli currently has 16 touchdowns with just 4 interceptions. Yeah, the Giants still have fierce competition from the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys, but if Eli can go back to his Super Bowl winning form, they will be fine.

The other Manning, though, can't say the same right now. Peyton already missed 3 games after sustaining a wrist injury in the Denver Broncos' week 01 clash against the Baltimore Ravens, now he'll miss four more weeks due to a partial MCL tear. With the Broncos sitting at 4-3, 3 games behind both Kansas City and San Diego, will this season be Manning's ride into sunset even if they fail to make the playoffs?

The middle of the pack is still full of teams who can't see to figure themselves out. The Indianapolis Colts put up a nice win in Charlotte against the Carolina Panthers, the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys should be better than they are right now and the New Orleans Saints still didn't decide if they are a good team or not. On a higher note, the Saint Louis Rams obliterated the San Francisco 49ers and are finally looking like the team we always expect them to be. Also, the Cleveland Browns finally won again.

At the bottom, things are still the same: some teams doing small jumps weekly because they beat other really bad team. Yeah, I'm talking about you Houston Texans, Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Also the same: the zero on the Chicago Bears win column.

Looks like I have some catching up to do today. 4-3 isn't a bad start at all. Good luck moving forward!

Hey Guru, thank you very much for your comment. It means a lot to me, seriously. And yeah, 4-3 isn't a bad start (considering this Rams team), but I'm still playing at All-Pro. If we make the playoffs, I'll make the leap to All-Madden. Don't wanna win it all in the first season already.

Thanks again, Hope you keep following!

Game Notes
As the Rams head on to the twin cities where the Vikings await them, there's a clear message for this game: Stop Adrian Peterson and win. With Teddy Bridgewater facing a sophomore slump, the Vikings' passing offense has been pretty bad. Everyone knows Adrian Peterson is a beast, but how much can he do against the best running defense of the league? Will it be enough to lead the Vikes to their first home win?

Re: Year of the Ram - A St. Louis Rams Dynasty (M16)

Rams force 4 fumbles, win thriller in Minnesota.

SAINT PAUL, MN - After throwing for 7 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in his last two games combined, Nick Foles finally came back to Earth as he had a poor showing against the Vikings in Minny. Foles threw 3 interceptions, including one in the red zone and one in the end zone, while passing for just 1 TD.

Luckily for him, the Rams' defense once again stepped their game up when the offense failed. They had 5 takeaways on the entire game (with the special teams also forcing a fumble), including a strip-sack of the Vikings' QB Teddy Bridgewater to ice the win.

The Vikings had trouble taking care of the ball all day. In their first drive, they had a great field position due to a 64 yard kickoff return by C. Patterson, but McDonald forced a fumble on the first run attempt by Peterson.

AD had a good game, running for 175 yards on 22 attempts and 2 touchdowns, but the number people will pay more attention is his 2 fumbles. He entered the game this afternoon with just one in the last 7 games.

Also under heavy scrutiny will be the Vikings' clock management. After Bridgewater found M. Wallace all by himself in the middle of the field and he ran for the 78 Yard go-ahead touchdown, Minny's defense forced a three and out. Instead of chewing the clock - goddamn, you have Adrian Peterson on your team! - the Vikings insisted on passing the ball. When the pressure came, Bridgewater managed to avoid the sack, but his pass went straight to L. Joyner's hands.

Their defense still managed to hold the Rams to a 41 Yard FG, nailed by Zuerlein to put his team ahead 30-28. Then, Minnesota's offense received the ball with 2:38 on the clock. They didn't go for it on fourth down after the Rams' defense forced a three and out, and, after forcing a quick three and out of their own to stay alive, once again Bridgewater made a costly mistake. He took too long to release the ball on a screen play near the Vikings' own end zone. Donald hit him hard and the ball was, once again, knocked loose. Quinn recovered it in the End Zone for the final score.

Now, the Rams gets back to Saint Louis to face the winless Bears, while the Vikings pays a visit to the Oakland Raiders.
