Re: GO BULLDOGS! A Fresno State Bulldogs Dynasty

Welcome back to dynasty reporting. I really like your clean layout and the writing is top notch. Will you be adding in-game pictures at all? Either way, I think this still looks fantastic. A huge win to start things off, hopefully some of that momentum to a tough test early against Ole Miss. I will be following along!

I'll gladly follow anyone who uses 2015 rosters. The fact you know the team as well as you do should make for some good storylines.

Best of luck!

Thanks sportsguru. You and the rest of the roster update guys are the reason this game will always stay fresh.

OLE MISS 26, FRESNO STATE 21
The final score made this game look closer than it actually was. Ole Miss controlled the tempo for much of the game. It wasn't until late in the fourth quarter when Fresno State quarterback Chason Virgil connected with receiver Justin Johnson for a 23 yard touchdown to pull within one score. Just as it looked like the momentum was on the Bulldog's side, Rebels running back Jaylen Walton broke off a 73 yard touchdown run on Ole Miss's first play effectively ending Fresno State's hope of an upset victory.

PLAYER OF THE GAME.. Ole Miss running back Jaylen Walton kept the chains moving for the Rebels and his final run of the day sealed the game. The 47th ranked Bulldog run defense held for most of the game until the flood gates finally opened late in the fourth quarter.

KEY STATS.. 90 Rushing yards was all the Bulldogs were able to muster against this stout front seven of Ole Miss. The run game never really got established and left the offense out of sync for much of the game. The 302 passing yards are a bit misleading as Chason Virgil chucked the ball multiple times on the final possession for the Bulldogs.

KEY PLAY.. 73 Yards and a cloud of dust.. (See the third picture below)

Tough loss against the Rebels. That long run was just back breaking. Love the additional graphics and in-game pictures. Hopefully you can bounce back next week!

ABILENE CHRISTIAN 42, FRESNO STATE 36
I'm speechless.. Did this really happen? Abilene Christian, a four touchdown underdog pulled off their biggest win of the year beating Fresno State in overtime. The Bulldogs looked to be in cruise control after two explosive plays to open the game. Costly turnovers by Fresno State allowed Abilene Christian to get a lead in the third quarter. Late in the fourth quarter, with a chance to move the chains and get in field goal position, Fresno State backup quarterback Zach Greenlee was stopped on a fourth and two option read play.

In overtime, Abilene Christian quarterback Parker McKenzie did his best Tim Tebow impersonation as he rumbled his way for a two yard touchdown. The Bulldogs would answer back with a rushing touchdown of their own from Marteze Waller. On the next series, Bulldog quarterback Zach Greenlee would get sacked on first down. On second and 22, receiver Da'Mari Scott dropped a touchdown catch. Fresno State would turn the ball over on downs and Abilene Christian quarterback Parker McKenzie pulled off the upset on a first down 25 yard touchdown run.

PLAYER OF THE GAME.. Abilene Christian quarterback Parker McKenzie was unstoppable the last two quarters of the game. He exposed a very suspect passing defense. His last run to win the game was a Heisman-like highlight reel. Picture Vince Young's Rose Bowl run to win the National Championship against USC in 2005. It literally made me almost cry. (I was a USC homer back in the day )

KEY STATS.. 3, Costly turnovers plagued the Bulldogs during the second and third quarter. Starting quarterback Chason Virgil looked like a true freshman as he committed all three turnovers. His last was a pick six to start the third quarter. He was ultimately benched in favor of Zach Greenlee. Greenlee looked good in relief and gave the Bulldogs a lead in the game, but his failed fourth down play will ultimately be what he'll be remembered for.

100%, That's the red zone efficiency for Abilene Christian. All three red zone possessions turned into points. Likewise, for Fresno State they failed to convert on two of their five red zone opportunities.

KEY PLAY.. There were a lot of key plays today, but the biggest one has to be the fourth down stop by Abilene Christian late in the fourth quarter. The read option had been working all game and it made since to go to it again. All credit goes to the defensive linemen who pushed Fresno State backwards and blew up the play in the back field.
