Thanks! I really appreciate that!

Also, I'm trying to experiment a bit with some graphics (I don't have Photoshop so it's mainly with Excel for box scores, rosters, recruiting boards, etc.) cause I've never used them before and in my opinion my posts still kinda seems bland. But, I'm also the type of person that if I do something like that, I have to perfect it lol. So, I'll probably start using graphics starting with the 2014 season.

I love your "We Are Grambling" picture that you use as a header. I love that type of stuff, but I can't seem to find a picture I really like to use for New Mexico State haha.

Re: The Coaching Career of Danny Carmichael (NCAA 14)

Week 3: UTEP vs. New Mexico State

Las Cruces, NM -- This was a defensive showdown between two non Power 5 Conference Teams. Both teams defenses played exceptional football and it showed in the box score.

New Mexico State QB TraVaughn Colwell had his worst game of the season as he barely completed 50% of his passes. But, the Aggies just could not hold on to the ball today. Their Wide Receivers did absolutely terrible. There were 9 dropped passes in this game and 2 fumbles. That was a big reason the UTEP Miners were able to stick around in this game. Eliminate those miscues, and it's a totally different ball game.

However, I believe New Mexico State has found a new weapon in Tight End Perris Scoggins. Scoggins caught 5 passes for 102 yards, a long catch of 38 yards, and also lined up as a fullback and had a 2 yard Touchdown run. Aggie start Receiver Austin Franklin had another great game as he hauled in 7 catches for 77 yards and made multiple big 3rd down catches late in the game to keep the clock running and the drive going.

Both teams running games struggled as well. The Aggies only averaged 3.4 yards per carry while the Miners averaged 3.5 yards per carry. And the Miners even struggled through the air as QB Jameill Showers stat line was: 20/52 passing (32 incomplete passes!), 209 yards, 0 TD's, 1 INT, and a 38% completion percentage. Those are not good stats considering outside of New Mexico State CB Cameron Fuller, the Aggies don't really have another solid Cornerback.

However, one positive for the UTEP Miners defense is the fact that they forced a season high 9 punts and they were in the backfield time and time again as they had 8 Tackles for loss in this game.

Scoring Summary

New Mexico State would start the game off by scoring the games first 14 points. The first score of the game was by backup running back Brandon Betancourt. Aggie starting HB Germi Morrison was knocked out the game a play earlier but would return at the start of the 2nd Quarter. Betancourt took the HB Counter handoff, made a small cut and dove into the endzone from 6 yards out. The second TD was a 9 yard pass from TraVaughn Colwell to WR Jordan Bergstrom. Colwell escaped a sack, rolled out of the pocket to his right and hit Bergstrom in the right corner of the endzone. Bergstrom initially ran a post route, but once Colwell began to scramble, Bergstrom took off for the right corner of the endzone as every other Aggie receiver ran to the left side of the field (which was away from Colwell... I didn't understand that). UTEP would respond with just a 1:30 left in the half with a 1 yard touchdown run by halfback Nathan Jeffery. So, at halftime, New Mexico State led 14-7.

UTEP struck first in the 2nd half with a 30 yard FG. But, New Mexico State would respond on their next drive with a 1 yard run by TE Perris Scoggins who was lined up as the full back. And then the only score of the 4th Quarter was a 25 yard FG by UTEP with 3:08 left in the game. So, the final score was 21-13 as New Mexico State improves to 2-1.

Senior TE Perris Scoggins catches the ball which would lead to his 38 yard catch and run

Re: The Coaching Career of Danny Carmichael (NCAA 14)

New Mexico State Recruiting Update

Recruiting coordinator Danny Carmichael has done a great job at really pushing for some kids to take visits and commit early in the season. Because of his relentless effort, the Aggies picked up 3 quick verbal commitments after the win vs. UTEP on Saturday. All 3 players visited for the game. Here is a quick breakdown of the Recruiting Board:

3 Stars: 23
2 Stars: 3
Total Players: 26

Position Breakdown

QB: 2 (Alton Evans)
HB: 1 (Chris Sims)
FB: 1
WR: 3
TE: 1
T: 3
G: 2
C: 0
DE: 1
DT: 3
OLB: 3
MLB: 1
CB: 3
SS: 1
K: 1

Week 3 Commits Breakdown

Tanard Olson-2 Star Tackle- 6'2", 261 lbs- Olson is an undersized Tackle who the Aggies project as a Center. His Blocking ratings are as followed: 75 Pass Block, 70 Run Block, 76 Impact Block, 82 Strength. He will be a redshirt candidate who will be given a chance to make an impact after his Redshirt Freshman/Redshirt Sophomore year.

Olson committed to New Mexico State over Texas State, UTEP, and North Texas.

Jammal McGee-3 Star Defensive Tackle-6'5" 274 lbs- McGee has the height that you want from a Defensive Tackle. But, along with Olson, McGee will probably need a redshirt year to get bigger and faster. His speed is only rated at 55. But, some of his best attributes are: 77 Strength, 76 Block Shedding, 75 Hit Power, and 73 Pursuit.

McGee committed to New Mexico State over UNLV, Colorado State, San Jose State, and Eastern Michigan.

Nate Rodgers-3 Star Fullback-6'4" 240 lbs- Rodgers is 1 of only 7 prospects from New Mexico who are projected to sign with a Division 1 school. Rodgers is the first instate commit for Doug Martin and the Aggies could sign up to 3 more. He has tremendous size and athleticism for the Fullback position and is rated as the #4 FB in the country. He should make an immediate impact in the run game and the passing game as he we may see him line up as a Tight End in some sets. Rodgers does not need a redshirt year and will contribute from his first day on campus. His best attributes are: 75 Impact Blocking, 71 Run Block, and 81 Speed.

Rodgers committed to New Mexico State over New Mexico, Utah State, North Texas, and UTEP.

Below is a look at the Aggies Recruiting Board as of Week 4.

New Mexico State Commits Week 3.png

New Mexico State Recruiting Board1.png

As you can tell, the Aggies are in on some very good, underrated prospects who aren't getting looks from many other schools. If Doug Martin, Danny Carmichael, and staff can haul even half of these prospects in, I'm sure we can agree that the future will be very bright in Las Cruces for years to come.

Re: The Coaching Career of Danny Carmichael (NCAA 14)

Week 4: New Mexico State vs. #20 UCLA

Coach Carmichael Media Session

Coach Carmichael: First off, I'd just like to say congrats to our guys for their hard fought win last Saturday. The defense was incredible all game and really, they've been one of the best in the country the past two weeks... That's my biased opinion of course. But, to be honest with you guys, I wasn't pleased with the Offensive performance. We have to be more efficient if we want to have a chance this Saturday vs. UCLA.

UCLA is a great football team and they're definitely one of the better Pac-12 teams. Heck, they're one of the best teams in the country. They just came off a 27-25 upset loss on the road to a good Nebraska team. So, they're going to come into this game with a chip on their shoulder and we have to be ready for it. They have one of the best defensive players in the country in Linebacker Anthony Barr. That kid is a for sure NFL Draft Pick and we have to find a way to take him out of the ball game because he is just a tackling machine and a real difference maker for them. We just can't have another offensive performance like we did on Saturday if we want to have a chance. With that being said, I'll take any questions you may have.

Reporter #1: Do you think TraVaughn can bounce back from his rough outing last week on the road vs. a #20 team in the country?

Coach Carmichael: I don't see why he couldn't. He is a very talented football player and he's a real confident kid. Plus, I think we have a favorable matchup in this game throwing the ball. 3 of their top 4 Cornerback's are Freshmen, their starting Free Safety is a True Freshman, and their starting Strong Safety is a Sophomore. Now, don't get me wrong, they're all very talented players, but they don't have a lot of Division 1 playing experience... So we can use that to our advantage and we certainly plan to.

Reporter #2: What do you think you can do to utilize Austin Franklin more in the offense?

Coach Carmichael: We've been trying some different things in practice to get him the ball because we'd love to get Austin more involved in the offense. He's an extremely talented player and he's one of the most explosive players in College Football in my opinion. You all will see that more throughout the season because I promise you this kid is going to make some huge plays this year. He is an incredible athlete and an NFL caliber player.

Reporter #3: This is the first time New Mexico State has been 2-1 going into their 4th game since 2007. Do you expect the team to keep this momentum going into the heart of your season?

Coach Carmichael: I do. I think it speaks volumes about what we're building here. We've got a good core of players, but now we need to develop the players we have now for some extra depth. We also need to hit the recruiting trail hard because like I've said... If you don't recruit well, you want have the success you want.

Players to Watch

ROLB-Anthony Barr-91 Overall-This kid is a difference maker on the defensive side of the ball. He is a for sure NFL Draft Pick and the biggest key to this game will be finding some way to take him out of the game and not make him a factor.

WR- Shaquelle Evans-89 Overall-He is going to be a nightmare for our Cornerbacks to cover. He is very fast (93 speed) and one of the best Wide Receiver's in the Pac 12. If our corners can shut him down, that will definitely give us a shot.

QB-T.J. Milweard-77 Overall- He will be starting in the place of star QB Brett Hundley since Hundley has a strained knee and will not play in this game. This may be the break New Mexico State needs if they want to win this game. Milweard does not have the arm talent or the athleticism Hundley does, so this can definitely be a plus for the Aggies.

Game Notes
Not having Brett Hundley in the lineup is never a good thing. But, UCLA is playing New Mexico State... at home. The Aggies struggled in a 21-13 win over UTEP last week, while UCLA was upset on the road by a pretty good Nebraska team, 27-25. UCLA's secondary is young but talented, and look for them to shut down the Aggies passing game. ESPN predicts UCLA will win.
