First I want to say great win in the snow against OU. Second please do not overlook this poor Boise team. Would have to see this be the proverbial trap game

I must say, you must have some sick stick skills to be balling with that roster the way you are. What a season!

thank you for the kind words. I've owned this game since it was released and I think this was the first time I've had a snow game lol. I planned to use the air attack more, but it wasn't in the cards with the weather. Very happy my boys were able to come through.

I'm honestly more stressed about the Boise game than Texas. Texas can go either way and it's still a good season, Boise can really be a spoiler!

Thanks again for checking in!

thank you for the compliment! I have a career that allows for quite a bit of gaming, so I get a decent amount of practice. I'm much better against a CPU than a human lol. I may add a restriction of only using pocket passers, to up the challenge. I'm liking the NIU playback too. It took some adjusting, but it really spreads the ball around. Well see what playback I get next year lol.

Thank you for the kind words and for checking in, it's been a great year so far! Potential for our first title if we can keep it going! I'm loving self implemented restrictions. I've never had it take more than 3-4 years to get the title, and this is year 6 with Sonoma for me.

(2019) Week 13: #1 Sonoma State @ Boise State

#1 Seawolves Walk Through Broncos, 62-20
Sonoma State Cruises After Four First Half Touchdown Passes

By Jason Maricopa, Football Beat Writer
Posted November 16th, 2019 8:11 PM

Boise, ID - The first meeting between the newcomers to the Big 12 was a distinctly one sided affair. The #1 Seawolves came into Boise looking to keep their momentum going, and the Broncos were looking to play spoiler. Unfortunately, for the Broncos, things got out of hand very quick.

Sonoma State marched down the field on their opening drive. Quarterback Brandon Reese went 4/4 and hit slot receiver Kyle Davis on a post for a 23 yard touchdown. They didn’t let up on their next drive, as Reese went 3/3 and hit wide receiver Charles Harvath for a 4 yard touchdown. After allowing a long field goal, they went back to business again. The Broncos secondary had no answer for the Seawolves passing attack, as Reese hit his third touchdown pass of the first quarter. He went to wide receiver Anthony Lester for 29 yards up the sideline, making it 21-3.

Reese continued to light up the skies on the next drive, driving the Seawolves down to the Broncos 1 yard line. That allowed fullback Tyrone McQueen to punch it in. After forcing a 3 and out, Reese went at it once more. He launched a post route to slot receiver Ryan Newhall, who took it 53 yards for a touchdown. Linebacker Maurice Godfrey got in on the action next. He picked off Bronco’s quarterback William Bryant and ran it back for a touchdown, making it 42-6 before the half.

Broncos wideout Jason Goodman finally got a chance to show his speed. On the Broncos second play of the next drive, he snagged a slant route and turned on the afterburners, taking it 78 yards for the Broncos first touchdown. It didn’t go unanswered, however. Brandon Reese continued to torch the Broncos defense, driving down to the 3 yard line before running an option keeper for the touchdown. At the half, the game was a blowout, 49-13.

Sonoma State turned to the run in the second half, allowing reserve players to handle the work load. Brandon Reese left the game, and allowed Brandon Jefferson to take the second half snaps. Reese finished the game with 361 yards and 4 touchdowns. Josh Carter came in to replace Damien Hayden in the second quarter, and ran for 102 yards on 19 carries. Running back Benjamin Brant also managed 49 rushing yards on 7 attempts. The defense remained stifling in the second half. Cornerback Josh Golden snagged two interceptions, and John Lloyd snagged one interception when the second string got reps. Lloyd was able to snag a tipped pass and run it home for a touchdown. “It was nice getting so many kids in on the action,” said coach Wright. “I didn’t expect it to be so one sided, Boise is a good team. I think we just caught them on an off day.”

Damien Hayden didn’t reach 100 yards on the day, but only because he was injured. Hayden went down awkwardly after a 12 yard catch in the second quarter, and came up holding his left shoulder. He went into the locker room, and returned in the 3rd quarter wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants. “It didn’t look good, from what I hear,” coach Wright told reporters. “I’m hoping he can bounce back, but really, we have to wait till we’re home for a good diagnosis.”

Quick Notes
-All 4 of Brandon Reese’s TD passes were to different receivers
-RB’s Carter and Brant combined for 152 yards while replacing the injured Damien Hayden
-SSU’s defense recorded a season high 4 interceptions

A Look Ahead
A battle for the Big 12 West title looms in Austin, where the Seawolves will travel to take on #4 Texas. Texas lost their season opener to Notre Dame, but has been on a 10 game winning streak ever since. They played Baylor last week, and walloped them 51-10. It is unknown if Seawolves Damien Hayden will be available for the game, his diagnosis is expected during this week.

Man, this would be college gameday and a half! 1vs4, Big 12 champ implications, National Champ implications! This would be one of the most watched games all season(if it were in real life). Go get em coach!

Injury Report: Hayden Out for Remainder of Season
Running Back Damien Hayden Sidelined With Torn Rotator Cuff

Sonoma State Seawolves Injury Report
PosPlayerInjury Note
RBDamien HaydenTorn Rotator Cuff - Out For Season

Rohnert Park, CA - The win at Boise State didn’t come without a cost. During his usual Monday morning press conference, Seawolves coach Scott Wright announced the extent of Damien Hayden’s injury was worse than most feared. Hayden went down in the second quarter after a short pass play. He was dragged down awkwardly on the tackle, and came up holding his left shoulder. When he returned to the sideline, albeit in sweatpants, many felt it wasn’t a severe injury. Even the coaching staff felt he would be back.

“He was in pain, that’s for sure,” said Wright. “He was powering through, and he thought it was minor. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. He’s got some significant tears in his shoulder. It really is heartbreaking.” Hayden is reportedly scheduled for surgery on Saturday, as doctors hope swelling will go down enough to operate by then. “The sooner he is patched up, the better chance he has to return for next year,” Wright said. Wright also noted there was a strong possibility that Hayden would miss spring football. “Recovery is 4-6 months, really. That puts him right at the spring ball timeline. We really don’t know if he will be back for it, but he should be back for the season. We don’t want to rush it.”

Hayden had accounted for over 100 yards rushing in 5 consecutive games, and posted over 150 twice and over 200 once. He has also been a force in the passing game, and was on some “Heisman Watch” lists. Replacing him will be a tall task, left to backups Josh Carter and Benjamin Brant. Coach Wright indicated both will be used to fill the void.

Carter went for 102 yards on 19 carries, while Brant went for 49 yards on 7 carries at Boise State. Neither of them ran for a touchdown.

Thanks man! I'm excited for this one. It's a real shame that Hayden is out, especially if we make it to the Natty. He was so important for this team, and he won't get to play in the 2-3 most important games of the season.

This is "game of the week" per the game too! I'll get it played tomorrow most likely. Thank you for the feedback!
