Romo Shines, Cowboys Win Game 1
If there was any doubt whatsoever about if Tony Romo could rebound from his broken clavicle and perform at the level we've seen for years, he silenced that doubt on Sunday night vs. the Giants.
In Sunday's NFL Game of the Week, Romo was one of the games brightest stars. He got started early and rode his confidence through the whole game.
The Cowboy signal caller started his dominant performance off early, as he completed 6 of 8 passes for 62 yards and capped off the drive with a 3 yard TD pass to Dez Bryant midway through the first quarter. It capped off a 12 play, 75 yard drive.
On the ensuing drive, Dallas safety Barry Church forced a fumble by TE Larry Donnell, but accidentally kicked it out of bounds. He was frustrated that he did miss the opportunity, because the next play was a 42 yard connection for a score between 2-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning and Rueben Randle. The tie at 7-7 would be short lived, though, as the Cowboys would march down the field and Romo would connect with Dez Bryant in the middle of the endzone on a jump ball for a score. Dez started the game with 3 catches for 52 yards and 2 TD. It was 14-7 after one.
After the teams traded punts on the second quarter's first three possessions, the Cowboys were finally able to get the ball moving on the legs of Darren McFadden. They drove all the way to the five, but were forced to attempt a 21 yard FG, which Dan Bailey easily converted.
A major storyline coming into this game would be how the Cowboys handled Odell Beckham Jr. Its safe to say that had his number. OBJ only had one catch in the first half, and was constantly pestered by Brandon Carr and Orlando Scandrick in the secondary. It was a long first half for Beckham Jr.
The Cowboys put together another drive late in the half, and Romo threw up a ball intended for Cole Beasley. However, Romo did not see safety Bennett Jackson lurking nearby, and he would intercept Romo's would-be third TD pass in the end zone. Nothing would come of it though, as the Cwoboys would get the ball back and get into position for Dan Bailey to kick a 26 yard field goal as the first half expired.
In the first half, Jason Witten and Dez Bryant both had 5 catches, Cole Beasley had 4. Darren McFadden ran the ball 12 times for 60 yards. The Cowboys had 302 total yards of offense in the first half, and that was why they led 17-7 at the break.
The third quarter was a lackluster one of sorts. After the Cowboys forced a punt on the Giants first drive, they made it to the red zone, where Romo would fumble on a scramble and it would be recovered vs. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. However, nothing came of it, and the stagnant Giant offense stalled. After a couple more drives resulting in punts, Cowboy S Barry Church would intercept a pass over the middle intended for Victor Cruz, but it would only result in a missed 57 yard field goal by Dan Bailey.

The ensuing drive would be more of the same. LB Rolando McClain intercepted Eli Manning on a pass right over the middle, and after a big reception by Terrance Williams, the following possession would result in a TD run by Darren McFadden, his first as a Cowboy. The Giants would answer with a long TD drive capped off by Rashad Jennings rushing in for a 14 yard touchdown, after his previous 12 carries amounted in just 12 yards. The Giants would attempt a 2 point conversion, but Rolando McClain would pick that off too and return it almost 100 yards for two points for Dallas. The next Cowboy drive would result in a 33 yard field goal for Bailey, and Daniel Fells would get a garbage time TD with 17 seconds left. The Cowboys won, 32-20.
