Trappers 2016 Schedule Released

Portland, ME - The Portland Trappers have filled out their schedule for the 2016 season. Portland will open their inaugural season with a tall order, travelling to nearby Pennsylvania to face the Penn State Nittany Lions in week one. The Trappers stay home for week two, hosting Louisiana Tech University for the first home game in school history at Welch Field. They will then travel to West Virginia to face the Marshall Thundering Herd in week three, before coming back home to play host to the Buffalo Bulls in week four. Following a bye in week five the Trappers will go on the road to Massachusetts where they will play the Minutemen, then back home to face the North Texas Mean Green for Homecoming. Week eight Portland will travel to New York where they will play the Syracuse Orange. They'll follow the road trip with three straight games at home, playing the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, the Idaho Vandals, and the USF Bulls. Portland will travel to New Mexico State week twelve to face the Aggies, and following a bye in week thirteen the Trappers will travel to Tennessee to end the season with another tough task against the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Trappers Release 2016 Depth Chart

Portland, ME - Coach Shaw has released the Portland Trappers 2016 roster and depth chart to the public. With only 50 players on the roster depth is likely to be an issue down the stretch for the fledgling program. Talent wise, the Trappers got a few surprises at tryouts. Wide receivers Kris Ewing (68Ovr) and Devron Callahan(67Ovr) will provide immediate boosts to Portland's receiving corps. Another surprise standout is freshman James Fletcher(66Ovr), James will fill the role of left tackle for the Trappers, a position they were badly in need of. Some players who will make immediate impact on the defensive side of the ball are lineman Shedrick Barnes(65Ovr) and Rashad Bass(61Ovr), as well as linebackers Alan Coles(66Ovr) and Brant Carey(61Ovr).

Not a bad depth chart. Some positions are weak but you have a few building blocks. A strong QB and a decent receiving corps...I see a pass heavy offense.

Your oline is fairly strong too, better than mine was year 1! (Something like an average of 45 overall, none over 50). And you got some true gem walk on players.

Portland @ Penn State

State College, PA - Well ladies and gentleman, it's the moment you've all been waiting for. Our Portland Trappers are set to do battle on the gridiron today against the Penn State Nittany Lions. Lots of firsts happening today; It'll be the Trappers first game ever, it will be Coach Shaw's first ever game at the Div-I level, it will be quarterback Adam Walker's first taste of college football. It won't be an easy task either. Penn State is led by senior quarterback Christian Hackenburg (91Ovr), Hackenburg returns after throwing for over 3,000 yards and 29 touchdowns last season. Stopping Hackenburg will be a hard first test for this young Portland defense. Hackenburg's #1 target is senior wideout Geno Lewis(91Ovr), who returns after catching 42 passes for 681 yards and 7 touchdowns his junior year. The Nittany Lion defense is led by senior outside linebackers Brandon Bell(90Ovr) and Nyeem Wartman(91Ovr) who combined for 83 tackles and 7 sacks last season.

Lee Corso picks the Nittany Lions to win big, 38-7.

I did get some great walk on players. My offense is normally around 60/40 run first. But with the team this year I'll definitely have to lean on the pass much more than I usually do.

Thanks. I fixed the picture too, I accidentally set that folder to private. Oops
