Georgia Tech rushes for 275 yards in 45-33 win over Miami Hurricanes to clinch Coastal
Miami linebacker Juwon Young fell down to his knees as the head official announced the penalty.

Facemask. Fifteen yards. Ball game. Division.

Despite a late rally, Georgia Tech (9-2, 7-1) was able to hold off the 'Canes to clinch the Coastal division with a 45-33 win over Miami on Saturday night.

Young was called for a facemask on third and five after he tried to tackle quarterback Justin Thomas on the scramble with two minutes left in the game. A stop would have given Miami the ball back with roughly a minute and a half to go with all three timeouts, needing two touchdowns for the win. Instead, Georgia Tech ran the clock out and secured the Coastal division.

"It was a tough game," Miami head coach Mark Richt said after the game, "We really, on defense, had a hard time with their option attack and on offense, we just never got a chance to get into rhythm. We made a lot of bad decisions, a lot of bad plays and they're a heck of a football team."

Miami (9-2, 6-1) suffered their second loss of the season and their first conference loss under Richt. Quarterback Brad Kaaya threw three interceptions but also had three touchdowns as he threw for 327 yards, including a 78-yard touchdown pass to Stacy Coley to make it 31-21 right before the half on a fake knee. With two seconds left in the game and the ball on the twenty two yard line, Kaaya faked the knee before throwing a deep bomb to Coley for the touchdown.

On the first drive of the second half, Kaaya led Miami down the field and on third and six, he tried to take it himself on a scramble but was stopped a yard short. Tech ran the ball eight straight plays before Marcus Marshall took it in from eight yards out to make it 38-21.

Three plays later, Kaaya threw his third interception of the day, this time to Chris Milton who brought it back for six.

Kaaya and the Hurricanes didn't lay down, however. Kaaya found tight end David Njoku for a gain of 24 and then went to Lawrence Cager for another gain of 24, setting up Gus Edwards' two-yard touchdown which was followed by a failed two point conversion to make it 45-27. Georgia Tech went three and out for the first time all day, setting up the quick five play drive which ended with a 37-yard touchdown pass from Kaaya to Njoku over the middle.

Sucks to lose like that and have the momentum sucked away, but a 9-win season isn't bad!

Miami Hurricanes snag safety Derek Nolan, lose offensive tackle Tony Oliver
Simulation Sports // Nayvadius Selby III

Three-star offensive tackle Tony Oliver has verbally committed to the University of Ole Miss. Oliver -- out of Southside, Alabama -- was a Miami target and commit his junior season but reopened his recruitment entering his senior season.

At six-foot-seven and 297 pounds, Oliver would have filled out a need for Miami at the tackle position. With five tackles on their roster and two of them being juniors, expect Miami to go after another tackle. Lance Jackson, another three-star tackle targeted by Miami, is currently leaning towards LSU as well.

Miami added another safety to their 2017 class. After receiving a verbal commitment from Parker Kiniry last week, another three-star safety committed to Miami. This time it was Derek Nolan out of Cheektowaga, New York.

S Derek Nolan
ESPN #23 S
6'2", 211lbs
Cheektowaga, NY (River Hill Academy)

The quick scoop..... Nolan is a late bloomer who had a great SPARQ Combine during the spring of his junior season entering his senior year. Nolan followed it up with a nice performance at various camps including Miami's but it wasn't until Miami lost out on a few other prospects that they offered Nolan a scholarship. The three prospect might be a late bloomer and a consolation prize but he still was good enough to get offers from USC, North Carolina, Cal and Clemson.

What he means for the 2017 season.... If Parker Kiniry indeed remains committed, that makes four other safeties that are either sophomores or freshmen entering camp. Nolan, however, is a great athlete and could find some way to make the roster and avoid the redshirt.

How he fits into the defense.... The most to linebacker for Nolan at some point seems almost certain. Nolan is extremely versatile, having played cornerback and inside linebacker in high school. At six-foot-two and 211 pounds already, Nolan still has room left in his frame to fill out and weighing in at 225 pounds by his senior season isn't a far fetch at all.
----------
RECRUITING NOTES

Evan Siegel seems poised to commit... From all account, Evan Siegel seems to have really enjoyed his visit to Miami. He got a chance to be in the stands for the Georgia Tech game on Senior Night but moreso, he got a chance to sit down with coach Mark Richt. Throughout this process, Miami has been looking at Siegel as a safety or corner but Siegel's recruiting host was receiver Sam Bruce. Siegel is listed as an athlete on most recruiting website because he is a heck of a quarterback as well at the high school level. Could Siegel be lining up under center for Miami?

Robert Liston seems to be slipping away... A few weeks ago, Miami was the leader for four-star guard Robert Liston. After his visit to Arizona, they took the lead. And now, following his visit to Utah, it seems that Miami has fallen to three on Liston's list. This late in the recruiting process, getting Liston is a MUST for the Hurricanes. They only have one other offensive linemen signed and it looks like they're going to lose out on Lance Jackson. With two senior guards on the roster and four juniors at center and tackle, there is going to be a huge turnaround and gap on the offensive line in two seasons. Will Miami be ready?

Brandon Moore all but signed to Miami... Few things in recruiting can be guaranteed. Brandon Moore to Miami is one of those few things. While the six-foot-four JUCO defensive end is still uncommitted, he cancelled visits to Notre Dame, Texas and Nebraska following his official visit to Miami this weekend. The top JUCO defensive end in the country is a perfect fit for Miami's 4-3 defense and should he come, he'd join a group that has two juniors slated to leave after next season.

Pittsburgh fights for their chance at bowl eligibility while Miami plays for pride in final matchup of season
Simulation Sports // Nayvadius Selby III

Miami's magical run might be over. But their season isn't.

The Hurricanes wrap up their regular season against Pittsburgh in a match up between two teams that have little to play for.

Following the loss to Georgia Tech last season, no. 25 Miami (9-2, 6-1) will no longer play in the ACC Conference Championship Game, extending the 'Canes drought since entering the league. Instead, Miami will play for pride against Pittsburgh (5-6, 2-5); a team still looking for their sixth win to become bowl eligible.

"We have to play for pride," Miami quarterback Brad Kaaya said of the situation, "Yeah, we're upset about what happened last week and we're out of the championship game but we still have to come out and fight. For the seniors, last week was their last home game but they still have two more games to go with the bowl so we have to play for them too and for ourselves and the coaching staff."

Kaaya will also be playing for a few awards himself. The junior quarterback was one of three finalists announced earlier this week for the Danny O'Brien Trophy. His top receiver, Stacy Coley, was also named a finalist for the Bill Biletnikoff Trophy. Kaaya has thrown for 3,517 yards along with 27 touchdowns with 966 of those yards going to Coley along with eight receiving and three rushing touchdowns for the senior receiver.

Linebacker Jermaine Grace is also a finalist for the Bednarik, Nagurski and Butkus Award. The senior linebacker has 63 tackles on the season along with four sacks, a forced fumble, two interceptions and a touchdown.

While Miami will try to pad their stats and collect a few silverware, Pittsburgh will attempt to not make this the last game for their entire team. It's been a disappointing season for the Panthers with losses against Akron, a one point loss to Virginia and blowouts against Georgia Tech, Syracuse and Louisville as well as a three point loss at Duke.

Pitt does have a 24-22 win over Notre Dame, who was ranked at the time.

For Pittsburgh, it starts and ends with their running game and they will hope to have at least half to production that Georgia Tech had against Miami. James Conner leads the way with 1,108 yards and eight touchdowns and his spell back isn't shabby himself with 901 yards and seven touchdowns.

Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, they've gotten close to nothing from their quarterback play. Nathan Peterman has just five touchdowns to his eight interceptions and is averaging just 108 yards per game. In comparison, the receiving totals of Miami's second and third most prolific receivers this season, tight end David Njoku and receiver Lawrence Cager, would exceed Peterman's numbers.

Miami is 23-9-1 against Pittsburgh all time. In their last loss to Pittsburgh in 2014, Conner rushed for two touchdowns in the 35-23 win.

Re: And Then I'll Rise and Fight Again | Miami Hurricanes Football Dynasty

November 26, 2016 - #MIAvPIT
Heinz Field -- Pittsburgh, PA

gamepic******** async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8">

---------------------------
MIA - 7 / 3 / 14 / 3 // 27
PIT - 7 / 0 / 0 / 0 // 7
---------------------------

Kaaya breaks school passing record in 27-7 win over Pittsburgh
With a 30-yard completion to tight end David Njoku, Miami quarterback Brad Kaaya became the newest member of the Miami Hurricanes record book.

And then he went on to lead Miami to it's first ten win season since 2003 with a 27-7 win over Pittsburgh on Friday in the driving snow.

Kaaya completed 24 of 31 passes for 265 yards along with one touchdown and one interception, breaking Bernie Kosar's record for most passing yards in a season. The 32-year old record was set back in 1984 when Kosar threw for 3,642 in one season. That year also marked Jimmy Johnson's first season as head coach of the Miami Hurricanes which is also the case for Kaaya with Mark Richt in his first season.

"It's an honor," Kaaya said after the game, "Just to be mentioned in the same sentence, the same record book as Bernie Kosar is definitely something you cherish, something you care deeply about and are honored by it."

It seemed that Miami (10-2, 7-1) was still hung over from their Georgia Tech loss early in the game, allowing Pittsburgh to drive down the field, convert a fourth-and-one on their first possession of the game. That would prove to be the last points the 'Canes would surrender.

While the Miami defense shut out Pittsburgh for the remaining three quarters, Miami's offense got busy putting points on the board. After a ten point first half, Miami matched and exceeded that total in the second quarter alone. On the first drive of the second half, Miami went on a ten play drive that culminated with a Braxton Berrios touchdown run on a wide receiver sweep play.

In their next possession, Miami went with nine straight run plays before Joseph Yearby took it in from nine yards out. After being quite for most of the season, Miami had 140 rushing yards from their offense and two touchdowns and converted twelve third downs.
