Game Notes
The Jets will look to build upon their impressive Week 1 victory over the Raiders when they travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Packers.

Green Bay returns home after defeating the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in their Week 1 matchup.

Unsurprisingly, the Jets are 7 point underdogs, but the Packers come into the contest wounded in the trenches. After losing DT B.J. Raji for the year in preseason, the Packers will be without defensive ends Mike Neal and Mike Daniels, as well as their starting LT David Baichtiari and CB Casey Hayward.

If the Jets can pull off a victory, it would be momentous for their playoff chances and confidence.

Re: Piloting the Jets: A Madden Franchise

Time to bring out that running game against a banged up Packers defense. Good luck!

Jets start 2-0 with convincing win in Green Bay

Green Bay, Wi - - After last week’s Jets victory over the Raiders many doubters still believed the Jets were a fringe playoff contender, but after Sunday’s dismantling of the Packers in Lambeau Field, those skeptics better take notice. The Jet would field a suffocating defense and multi-dimensional offense to beat up on a wounded Packer team by the final score of 34-16.

The Jets defense would set the tone on the Packers opening possession by sacking Aaron Rodgers on the first two plays from scrimmage. After forcing a quick three and out, the Jets would reveal their “keep away” game plan as they conducted a 12 play, 73yard drive that took nearly seven minutes off the clock. The drive was capped off by a 2 yard touchdown reception by rookie Jace Amaro, his first as a pro.

Following another three and out by the Packers offense, the Jets would execute their second 12 play possession of the half, this time covering 71 yards and eating up more than seven minutes of game time. On a 3rd & 1 from the Packers 2 yard line, Chris Ivory would break through for his fist score of the season giving the Jets an early 14-0 lead. The Packers would respond quickly on their next possession as Aaron Rodgers found Jordy Nelson on a slant which he took to the house for a 72 yard score.

For a moment it looked like the Packers would fight back in this one, but the Jets would answer with yet another time consuming drive going 10 plays for 77 yards, ending with a 17 yard touchdown pass from Geno Smith to David Nelson. The Jets would get the ball back one last time in the first half with 54 seconds remaining, and like last week versus the Raiders, they refused to let up. Geno Smith would complete 5 consecutive passes and ended the second quarter with a perfect back shoulder throw to Jeremy Kerley for a 17 yard touchdown, giving the Jets a 28-7 lead as boos rained down from the Packer faithful.

Smith finished the 1st half going 17/19 for 234 yards and 3 scores. Rex Ryan commented on the Jets end-of-half aggressiveness saying, “It’s something we discussed this off season. We want to take advantage of each possession and so far we’ve executed perfectly.”

In the second half the Packers defense would limit the Jets to just 6 more points, but the Packers offense was unable to mount any threat of a comeback as the Jets defense continued to pressure Rodgers. The Jets offense would turn to their running game and take advantage of field position to limit the Packers second half opportunities. Forced to abandon the running game, Green Bay was unable to protect Rodgers as the Jets tallied 3 more sacks. A final push for points came too late as Rodgers found Jarrett Boykin for a garbage time TD, but the clock expired giving the Jets a stunning victory on the road.

The Jets had no injuries to report.

That was definitely the game plan going in. We didn't rip off any long runs, but we did just enough to keep 3rd down manageable and Geno has been great converting. That seems to be the offensive identity thus far.

Game Notes
The Jets play their first prime time game this week as they host the 2-0 Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. The Bears enter the matchup coming off a surprising road victory over the 49ers. They will be without star running back Matt Forte who suffered an injury in last weeks win, but the Bears still field a formidable offense with his absence.

The Jets will have their hands full dealing with one of the better receiving corps in the league. Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, and Martellus Bennett will pose matchup problems so it will be important for the Jets to get pressure on Jay Cutler if they have any hopes of slowing down the Bears pass offense.

New York enters week three with the top ranked offense in the league, led by a strong offensive line that has controlled the line of scrimmage in their first two games. Chris Ivory is tops in the league in rushing and Geno Smith has yet to be sacked. The time in the pocket has allowed Smith to get off to a surprisingly good start and it will be key again against the Bears.

The Jets are favorites at home by 3.5.

Jets sack Cutler 6 times, improve to 3-0

Newsday Sports
Jack Reilly

East Rutherford, N.J. -- In front of a national audience on Monday night the Jets defense proved for the third straight week they’re a unit to be reckoned with. Bears QB Jay Cutler threw for over 300 yards, but the Jets pass rush was relentless in their pursuit and limited the Bears to just one touchdown in a hard fought 27-13 victory.

The defensive fireworks started early when the David Harris sacked Cutler on the first play from scrimmage, forcing a fumble that was recovered by Damon Harrison on the Chicago 20 yard line. Two plays later Geno Smith would rollout on a play action pass and find Eric Decker in the front corner of the end zone for a touchdown. With early momentum on their side, the Jets would force a quick three and out on the Bears next possession. It was then time for the offense to flex their muscle as the offensive line opened holes for Chris Ivory on a 9 play drive deep into Chicago territory. The drive would stall on a holding penalty on Chris Johnson, resulting in a 41 yard Nick Folk field goal.

On Chicago’s next two possessions Jay Cutler would find his groove and engineer two long drives, but the Jets defense would limit them to just 3 points keyed by two sacks that ended each drive. The Jets would continue their trend of scoring before the half as they traveled 51 yards on 11 plays. On 3rd and goal inside the Bears 10, Geno Smith would be sacked for the first time this season by Jared Allen, forcing a Nick Folk 37 yard field goal to give the Jets a 13-3 halftime lead.

The Jets would receive the ball to start the second half and conduct a drive that has been their signature so far this season. Geno Smith would complete 3 passes for 40 yards and Chris Ivory would charge forward on 4 carries for 33 yards on a drive that was capped off by a Chris Johnson 5 yard touchdown run, his first as a Jet. The 10 play, 81 yard drive gave the Jets a commanding 20-3 lead. The Bears would respond with a long possession of their own, highlighted by a 26 yard completion to Brandon Marshall, but once again be held to a field goal.

The Jets would again put together a double digit play drive as they traveled 72 yards on 16 plays to the Bears 8 yard line. On 3rd and goal Geno Smith would find Jeremy Kerley across the middle, but he would fumble and safety Chris Conte recovered for the Bears. That seemed to be the break Chicago needed as Jay Cutler would move the Bears quickly down the field and find tight end Martellus Bennett for a 15 yard score.

With their lead cut to seven in the fourth quarter, the Jets needed to respond and they did just that on the ensuing kickoff. Jeremy Kerley would look to atone for his earlier mishap as he returned the ball for 45 yards giving the Jets excellent starting field position at mid field. Kerley would then make a key catch on 3rd and 6 for 24 yards that set up a Chris Ivory 3 yard touchdown run.

Chicago would make one last push as they quickly moved the ball 64 yards on 3 plays, but the Jets defense would come up with a stop as Muhammad Wilkerson sacked Cutler forcing a 4th down and 17. Cutler would complete a pass to Brandon Marshall, but he would come up short of the first down, effective ending the game.

A boisterous Rex Ryan after the game said, “I loved how we played today, real smash-mouth football! Our QB really showed me something today. He played within himself, trusted his teammates, and made the plays that needed to be made.”

Next up for the are the 3-0 Detroit Lions next week at home. The Jets had no injuries to report.

Re: Piloting the Jets: A Madden Franchise

The offense is continuing to look sharp with Geno at the helm and the ground game is doing some serious work. Heck of a start for you guys!

On a sidenote, the presentation is looking absolutely fantastic man. Very nice job with this.
