Having spent some years in Boca, this is a very interesting dynasty for me to follow. Congratulations on that spectacular win against Wisconsin. Good luck against Buffalo - if you could handle the Badgers, I'm sure you can handle the Bulls.

Thanks for the support ! And as for the next game, I know the Bulls are ranked way lower than Wisconsin, but I'm eager to see what the guys can do on the field, as I'm only calling in the plays. Warren seems to have one hell of a good start to the season right now, hopefully that doesn't make my offense too one-dimensional, but the rest of the team has answered the call as of yet. I believe they can do well against Buffalo.

75 - 24

Disaster in Buffalo, as Bulls mangle Owls 75-24

BUFFALO -- The bye week definitely wasn't a good thing for the Owls, as they looked slow and disorganized facing the Bulls yesterday, and what looked like a great opportunity to build upon after the win against Wisconsin turned into a massacre. This defeat beats the previous record for the worst FAU loss, when the #24 Louisville Cardinals defeated the Owls 61-10 back in 2005.

The Bulls got everything right during the game; shutting down senior HB Jay Warren and limiting him to only 74 yards on 13 carries, while repeatedly sacking senior QB Greg Hankerson (15 times to be exact). Hankerson did amass 300 yards passing and 3 TDs, but by the time he got there, the Owls weren't in the game no more, in fact, the game was over by the end of the first quarter. On the brighter side of things, senior WR Kalib Woods caught two TD passes late in the game.

Second half became a nightmare for the Owls, getting beat up in every facet of the game, as they were outscored 52-21 in the last two quarters. Redshirt junior FS Courtney Givens had a relatively good game in this lopsided defeat, amassing 9 tackles. Buffalo's redshirt senior defensive end Tedroy Lynch had a career game, beating the school record for sacks in a game with his 6.0 quarterback tackles, as Buffalo's defensive unit recovered two fumbles (including one for a TD) by Hankerson and intercepted one pass.

The Owls get another bye next week, and we can safely predict that coach Rousseau will likely have his players run extra punitive drills to atone for this defeat, and prepare themselves for their next game at home against Navy. And if that wasn't enough already, the Owls will be without redshirt sophomore defensive end Shawn Jenkins at least for the next three weeks after suffering an injury in the defeat.

Re: Climbing The Ladder : Coach Rousseau's Career (NCAAF 14)

Big XII expansion process is underway; Cincinnati and Houston are the targets

It appears that despite all the pre-expansion talks, BYU will not be a part of the Big XII Conference, at least for the time being. Conference officials have confirmed that invitations have been sent out to Cincinnati and Houston, both current members of the American Athletic Conference, to be a part of the expanded Big XII. The fact that BYU was left out of this round of invites may point to a possibility that they would be applying to join another conference in the coming years, or even themselves ask for a spot in the Big XII.

Cincinnati has for quite some time been a target for expansion speculations, and provided they join, would help ease the tensions between West Virginia and the rest of the conference, since there would now be two close neighbors in the eastern part of the Big XII. Houston looks mainly to be there to even out divisions, as while they've been a good program the past few years in the American, they've had some difficulties keeping up with some of the competition. However, they would provide a foothold for the Big XII in the Houston market, both for recruiting and television revenue.

Conference officials have yet to issue a statement regarding the details of the expansion process, but inside sources have told us that both schools, providing they accept the invitation, would begin conference play in the 2019 season, so the transition period would be the length of the 2018 season. Whether they go Independent or transfer directly hasn't been addressed yet, or there may be the possibility that the schools would be able to move earlier to their new home.

As this potential move would greatly affect the American, reactions from commissioner Michael Aresco regarding the state of the conference teams will likely follow shortly. If the move is accepted by Cincinnati and Houston, the American would move back to 10 teams if they do not invite other schools to fill the void.

Second-half collapse sinks Owls; FAU lose second straight

BOCA RATON -- Another bye week meant another defeat for the Owls this week, and the visiting Midshipmen took advantage of FAU in the second half to score 21 unanswered points to leave Florida with the victory. Senior HB Jay Warren had another good day in the defeat, tallying 122 yards on the ground and a TD, while adding 22 more yards on 4 receptions.

Senior QB Greg Hankerson did not have a bad game, but turnovers were costly for the Owls, giving the ball away three times to the Navy, twice on interceptions. Defense played an important part of the game, with each team amassing less than 350 offensive yards, but the crucial tackles were made by the Midshipmen, much to the displeasure of the fans in FAU Stadium.

The Owls play again at home next week, hosting the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Florida Atlantic won last year's meeting 42-32 against the Bulldogs, and this year's game looks to be headed to the same conclusion, as Louisiana Tech's record on the year is less than ideal at 1-3, but with the 2-game losing skid the Owls are on right now, anything can happen.
