Re: Coaching Career of Steve Cecil (NCAA 14)

Press Conference

Old Dominion held a press conference today and announced the hiring of Steve Cecil as there head coach.

Cecil whose coming off a two year stint with Oklahoma as there defensive coordinator took the job after a talk with the AD of Old Dominion.

SC:I took this offer after some talk with the staff around here. I met with some of the players and this just seems right.

What about the offense you plan on running?

SC:I haven't settled on that just yet. We still need to look over the roster and see what we have to work with.

How many wins do you expect to get this season?

SC:I'm not sure right now. I'm hoping for five to seven wins this year. We'll see what happens.

Game One

https://youtu.be/-lg1CyODf24

The Old Dominion Monarchs opened the 2017 season in College station as coach Cecil made his head coaching debut. The Monarch offense started off slowly going three and out on there first two possessions of the game.

The defense stood tall as they stopped Texas A&M from getting into the endzone as well. The Monarchs finally got on the board early in the second quarter as Cox punched it into the endzone. Old Dominion increased there lead later in the game as LaRussa hit Cox for a TD. The Aggies would put up a score of there own before the half pulling within a TD of Old Dominion. While the Monarchs were on a high of being ahead the coaching staff got the bad news that starter Blake LaRussa went down with back spasms and will be out nine weeks.

The second half for the Monarchs showed that there going to need to figure out there QB position until LaRussa comes back. The Aggies put up a TD in the third quarter as the Monarchs turned over the ball. The Aggies added two more scores in the final quarter as the Monarchs quarterback would go on to throw four INT's in the game.

The Monarchs will travel to Syracuse next week to face the Orange as they will look for there first win.
