The grey, soggy weather at MetLife Stadium proved to be a fitting backdrop for the events that unfolded on the field. The New York Jets defeated the 49ers 27-17 to eliminate them from playoff contention. Geno Smith led the Jets to a 21-0 lead that ultimately proved to be insurmountable. On the other side of the ball, New York's front seven dominated San Francisco, with Muhammad Wilkerson and Sam Acho notching three sacks apiece. In brighter news, rookie LaMarcus Gardner's first career catch and touchdown came on the same play late in the fourth quarter. Ultimately this game was an exercise in futility; even if the 49ers won, they still would not have made the playoffs by virtue of the Bears beating the Lions. The 49ers enter into the off-season disappointed with how the season's second half went (3-5) but proud of the progress made and the trajectory of the team.

Re: Golden Again: A Madden NFL 16 49ers CFM

2016-2017 Off Season Part 2: Free Agency Signings
TE Luke Willson (4 Yr./$18.7M)

Age 27, 83 OVR, 87 SPD, 83 AGI, 91 ACC, 72 STR, 78 AWR, 80 CTH, 74 RTE, 85 CIT, 82 SPC, 66 TRK, 54 SFA, 89 JMP, 66 IMP, 74 RBK, 61 PBK

The most highly regarded signing of the 49ers' off season, Luke Willson is expected to make an immediate impact in both the pass and run games. His speed (87) is exceptional for a TE and a noticeable improvement over his predecessor and former college teammate Vance McDonald.

DE Margus Hunt (1 Yr./$1.07M)

Age 30, 74 OVR, 84 SPD, 77 AGI, 87 ACC, 88 STR, 60 AWR, 76 TAK, 83 HPW, 81 POW, 64 FIN, 75 BKS, 78 PUR, 48 PRC, 79 STA, 85 INJ, 88 TGH

A native of Estonia, Margus Hunt joins the 49ers as Arik Armstead's backup at the LDE position. Though his football skills are rather pedestrian, his athletic abilities make him an intriguing player, even in his age 30 season.

ILB Arthur Brown (2 Yr./$1.87M)

Age 27, 75 OVR, 85 SPD, 87 AGI, 87 ACC, 69 STR, 62 AWR, 87 TAK, 78 HPW, 63 POW, 75 FIN, 76 BKS, 88 PUR, 72 PRC, 72 ZON, 65 MAN, 86 TGH

Arthur Brown provides depth at the inside linebacker position and is expected to play adequately in the event that NaVorro Bowman or Gabe Huerta needs a breather/gets hurt. He is the fastest inside linebacker on the team.

WR Chris Conley (1 Yr./$750K)

Age 24, 69 OVR, 94 SPD, 91 AGI, 93 ACC, 79 CTH, 49 RTE, 84 CIT, 79 SPC, 79 REL, 97 JMP, 64 ELU, 62 SFA, 74 JUK, 72 SPN, 35 KR

Chris Conley possesses an impressive combination of size (6'3'') and speed. His height gives him an invaluable advantage when it comes to making catching in traffic (84 CIT) and coming down with jump-balls (97 JMP).

WR Will Spencer (1 Yr./$880K)
Age 23, 72 OVR, 96 SPD, 92 AGI, 98 ACC, 74 CTH, 71 RTR, 63 CIT, 73 SPC, 86 REL, 97 JMP, 87 ELU, 45 SFA, 76 JUK, 77 SPN, 84 KR

An undrafted free agent in 2016, Will Spencer also brings speed to the 49ers receiving corps, but does so in a smaller package (5'11''). The University of Pittsburgh alum also has the ability to return kicks and will compete for a roster spot.
