I see what you did there.

I think the Dragons have one of the nicest unis among the relocation teams. Given how horrid most of them are, that's not hard though.

I really miss create-a-team.

WEEK 1 PREVIEW

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS AT LOS ANGELES RED DRAGONS

Football officially returns to LA as the Dragons open the season at home against division rival Kansas City in one of Week 1's two Monday Night Football games. The Chiefs have won 20 games in Andy Reid's first two years but did not reach the playoffs in 2014 as they did in '13, and are looking to make it 2 out of 3 under the Walrus. It was a quiet offseason in KC, which did not have any notable losses or gains, although a few heads were turned when they opted to retain the under-performing Dwayne Bowe. That probably had more to do with the team striking out with the most desirable free agent receivers. Bowe is joined by rookies Jarius Boyd and Rannell Gilbert, and veteran Josh Morgan, forming a group that's not going to make anybody lose any sleep. Although Gilbert was KC's first fround pick, third-rounder Boyd had a better camp and won the no. 2 spot. Aside from the new receivers and rookie kicker Richard Lauderdale, replacing FA loss Cairo Santos, the Chiefs are essentially the same team they were a year ago, when they won both meetings between the teams. Guard Jeff Allen is out with an army injury, but KC is otherwise healthy.

Re: The Desolation of Smog | Los Angeles Red Dragons

CLOSE GAME ENDS IN KC COLLAPSE

For most of the way, it was not a game typical of one which has an 18 point margin of victory. The Kansas City Chiefs held a 6-3 halftime lead and trailed by only 10-9 early in the fourth quarter. And then the teepee fell in. Scoring 17 points in the game’s final 9 minutes, the former San Diego Chargers made it a successful debut as the Los Angeles Red Dragons in front of a packed house and a Monday Night Football audience. With Melvin Ingram as master of ceremonies, the Dragons hosted a sack party, taking down Alex Smith (who left the game in the first series with a bruised sternum) and Chase Daniel a total of 11 times. Ingram finished the night with 4, while Ryan Kerrigan and rookie defensive tackle El Martin each registered a pair. Given such a shameful performance by the KC o-line, it’s no wonder the Chiefs never found the end zone. But Dragons, struggling to find offensive balance with the running game never getting untracked, also struggled to collect points, scoring only 10 in the first three quarters. It might have been 13, but Giorgio Tavecchio missed a 45 yard field goal attempt in the first quarter. Los Angeles tight end Antonio Gates was also sidelined in the first half by a bruised sternum, but made 7 grabs before his exit.

After the Chiefs got within a point with 13:37 left in the game, the Dragons responded with a 44 yard Tavecchio kick, and the next Los Angeles drive resulted in a 2 yard TD toss from Philip Rivers to Branden Oliver. On the first play after the ensuing kickoff, Ingram recorded a sack-fumble combo and Kerrigan got a 10 yard scoop-n-score for the game’s final tally.
