Re: The Depths of Howl - Arkansas State NCAA 14 Dynasty

Red Wolves victorious in home opener

The Arkansas State Red Wolves opened Sun Belt play and had their first home game of the season against the Troy Trojans. It did not take long for the energized Red Wolves, who had two upsets slip through their fingers in the past two weeks, to put points on the board. On the opening drive, the Red Wolves would march the field quickly setting up a Fredi Knighten 4 yard rushing touchdown. The Trojans answered back just as quickly, scoring just :58 seconds later with B. Silvers first of 2 passing touchdowns of the day.

Still in the first, Arkansas State would answer back on their second drive, after marching the field, they handed the ball off to WR Dijon Paschal for a 1 yard rushing score. Troy didn't waste time scoring again, sending the ball down the field for Silvers second passing touchdown just :48 seconds later. The Red Wolves could not find an answer to B. Silvers passing attack.

Both teams were two for two on drives to touchdown ratio to start the game, but the streak ended on the first drive of the second quarter. The Red Wolves started the second quarter, 3 and out. Getting the ball back, Troy would continue to march the field, Silvers who hadn't thrown an in-completion yet, would find his first of the day, tossing the ball to Arkansas State's Blaise Taylor, who would take it back 72 yards for a touchdown.

Arkansas State found a way to stop Troy again, and after getting the ball back would slowly move down the field setting up an 18 yard pass to Tres Houston for six. Troy would find a way to set up a 50 yard field goal to end the first half.

Troy received the ball to start the second half, down 11 points. Silvers would throw his second interception during the 3rd quarter to Chris Humes, who would get a 40 yard return for the Red Wolves. Arkansas State scored off the turnover with Fredi Knighten's second rushing touchdown of the day. After another stalling drive, Troy went for a 4th and 1 and failed giving the Red Wolves the ball back. Arkansas State would march the field scoring again with Warren Wand.

Troy would find a way to put up points in the fourth quarter after Knighten fumbled, giving B. Tyler a scoop and score. The Red Wolves after failing to recover the onside kick, would step up and keep the Trojans out of the endzone. After gaining the ball back, the Red Wolves would slowly run out the clock taking their first victory of the season!

Game Notes
The Red Wolves, coming off an impressive conference win last week at home against Troy, will look to get to .500 this week versus Memphis Tigers (1-0). The Tigers are coming off a bye week after winning in week 1 31-28 against Duke.

The Red Wolves will look to continue their passing attack against a Memphis team who allowed over 250 passing yards against Duke. But, the Tigers offense sitting at #2 in the nation on rushing yards should prove a tough task for Arkansas State's rush defense.

If the Red Wolves can manage to stop the rushing attack while keeping Paxton Lynch at bay, they should come away with another victory on the season.

Memphis leads the all-time series 29-24-5

Prediction : Red Wolves over Tigers, 45-28

Re: The Depths of Howl - Arkansas State NCAA 14 Dynasty

Arkansas State Scores 31 straight to defeat Memphis

Arkansas State looking to get back even at .500 on the season hosted Memphis for the week 4 match-up. Memphis coming in as a slight underdog in most predictions got off to a great start. On their opening drive the Tigers would be held to a field goal. Arkansas State getting the ball for the first time would go negative yards on a 3 and out drive, punting the ball back to Memphis.

Memphis would continue their solid rushing attack that moved them down the field on the first drive, and cap it off with a 14 yard run from Dorceus. Arkansas State's struggles continued going 3 and out again, giving the ball back to Memphis. Memphis would move the ball with their rushing attack again, but after D. Dorceus would get injured and the backup, J. Cooper, would come in and Memphis would fail to get in the endzone, settling for another 3 points.

Arkansas State finally found some rhythm moving the ball, until a fumble that would be recovered by Memphis and returned for a touchdown happened. After the review the officials found that Michael Gordon's knee was down prior to losing the football, and Arkansas State continued their drive. They would find paydirt for the first time in the first half when Michael Gordon would punch in his first of two from 5 yards out with :29 seconds remaining. Memphis quickly moved the ball down the field setting up a long 47 yard field goal for J. Elliot. His kick would fall short and JD McKissic would find the blocks to set up a 107 yard return off the missed field goal, giving the Red Wolves their first lead of the game to end the half, 14-13.

The Red Wolves received the kick to start the second half, reeling on their momentum from McKissic's return, they would march the ball down and score on a Michael Gordon 42 yard run. Memphis' struggle began in the second half, going 3 and out for the first time of the game. Arkansas State would score after Memphis' punt, that was returned to the 21, after a 55 yard JD McKissic return. Fredi Knighten would move the ball down the field, setting up a quick screen pass to find McKissic from 1 yard out.

Arkansas State up 15 points to start the fourth, they would kick a field goal to begin the fourth quarter, going up 18 points. Memphis would finally find the endzone, ending the Red Wolves 31 straight points, when J. Cooper would walk in from 2 yards out. Arkansas State would slowly milk the clock setting up Knighten to kneel the ball out for the victory.

Arkansas State will host old time rival Louisiana Tech next week.
