Appreciate it. Doing those previews really got me familiar with the team & it's real life storylines so I'll continue to do it. Can't wait to get this started but right now I'm trying to figure out if I want to do coach mode, CPU vs. CPU, or just play the game. Each has its own pros and cons

I don't know how often I'll be updating from here as tomorrow dead week is over and football practice starts back

PRESS RELEASES: NICK SHERRY TO START AGAINST MINNESOTA
By David Hyde on August 28, 2013 at 5:12p

PRESS RELEASES | UNLV FOOTBALL

Bobby Hauck confirmed Nick Sherry will start Thursday against Minnesota, ending the speculation that came about after he placed an ‘OR’ in between Sherry and Caleb Herring on Tuesday’s released depth chart.

“We’re going to see how things go early on,” Hauck said Wednesday. “Nick will start, but we’re making sure Herring is ready to go as well.”

Last season Sherry replaced Herring as the starting quarterback en route to throwing 2,718 yards, the fifth most by a freshman in MWC history, along with 16 touchdowns and an FBS-high 17 interceptions. Herring had passed for 1,004 yards, eight touchdowns, and six interceptions the prior year as a junior.

Each player brings their own separate dimensions to the Rebels' spread offense. Sherry is a promising pocket passer but doesn't nearly have the same mobility as Herring, who also provides UNLV's lacking senior experience.

Love all the detail put into this thus far. Those UNLVs look slick, very Ohio St.-esque. Looking forward to the season!

RECAP: UNLV BLOWS LEAD, LOSES TO MINNESOTA IN SEASON OPENER
By David Hyde on August 29, 2013 at 11:01p

UNLV’s season-opener at Minnesota showed something beyond promise, but with a difference a halftime break can make, the Rebels crumbled.

An 18-point lead – nearly 24 – swiftly went down the drain as the Golden Gophers staged its second half come-from-behind victory Thursday night at TCF Bank Stadium, winning 27-24.

For UNLV, it was their 23rd consecutive road loss, three short of the school record set from 1994 to 1998.

BOX SCORE: UNLV @ Minnesota

“We were there emotionally, and that's sometimes the X-factor in these opening week games,” UNLV coach Bobby Hauck said. “But once we got out in front we, of course, got too comfortable and with Minnesota being a well-coached team, they were able to make adjustments and take advantage.”

Hauck said he preached to his players not to let up coming out of halftime, especially after their opening performance seemingly gave them every right to after outnumbering the Gophers 402-169 in total offense while coming just short of posing a shutout.

Nick Sherry had already thrown for 309 yards, ran in for a score, and connected on a 53-yard touchdown pass to true freshman Torry McTyler. The second half told a much lesser story, however, as he was sacked on four of six occasions while throwing just an additional 108 yards as the Rebels’ offense fell out of sync.

Despite the loss, the sophomore finished 30-of-44 for a career-high 417 yards passing to go along with his two first half scores.

As the Rebels’ grew pass-happy, running back Tim Cornett saw a drop off in touches, recording only 16 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown. He had multiple runs for good amounts of yardage – including a 26-yarder – but his finishing numbers were flawed by tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

Said Hauck: “It starts up front in the trenches. We had some good series up front, other times not so much. That’s something we can really assert as a positive come time for review and film next week. This game will provide us a lot of details on how to improve.”

Minnesota’s Phillip Nelson overcame a sluggish first half and tossed the ball for 240 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception while adding 92 yards rushing.

Donnell Kirkwood rushed for another 127 yards and ran in a touchdown along with fullback Mike Henry.

THE RECRUITING BOARD: WEEK ONE
By David Hyde on August 31, 2013 at 5:22p

The Recruiting Board is your weekly dose of updates from the UNLV football recruiting trail, keeping tabs on the latest from commits and targets from around the country.

REBELS' VOID AT DEFENSIVE TACKLE FILLING QUICKLY

UNLV will prepare to graduate each of its top-three options at defensive tackle following the conclusion of the 2013 season. Luckily for them, the pitch is bringing in replacements rather quickly.

A pledge from two-star recruit Cameron Guerrero could be in the horizon, a scenario which would make him the Rebels' second class of 2014 commit along with fellow tackle Ian Scurlock who committed back in June.

Guerrero, a Rancho Corrdova, California, native, ranks in at No. 21 among defensive tackles in the state and No. 152 in the country, according to 247Sports. He moved from South Carolina this past summer, shifting his college interests from Arkansas State and Marshall to UNLV and Nevada.

ELITE WIDE RECEIVER HIGH ON UNLV

UNLV might just strike gold with four-star wideout Rico Roberts, who has made it clear that he wants to get his decision out the way. Most believe Fresno State holds the lead, with the Rebels not too far behind.

Roberts was on campus for UNLV's Junior Day in June. "Loved it there; it was great," he said. "Got to meet to some great coaches and learned a lot from them. They really want me there and they make it known."

Roberts is "by preference" courting more mid-majors than he is the Power-Five's. His listed schools of interest are all among the Mountain West Conference.

UNLV OFFERS IN-STATE QUARTERBACK

Though Marvin Chapman has been committed to Kentucky since 2012, UNLV has jumped on ship and extended the in-state quarterback a scholarship. The Ely, Nevada, product was in attendance when the Rebels opened fall practice in his hometown earlier this month.

"It was right up the street, so me and the guys just said 'why not' after practice," Champman said following the 'visit'. "It was cool to watch (them practice) up close."

Nevada's second-ranked quarterback and No. 78th in the 2014 class according to 247Sports, Champman was lured by Arizona State, Maryland, Syracuse, and NC State before choosing Kentucky.

DEPTH CHART: REBELS TO SHAKE UP OFFENSIVE LINE ROTATION FOLLOWING WEEK ONE LOSS
By Jeremy Lyle on September 4, 2013 at 6:59p

DEPTH CHART | UNLV FOOTBALL

UNLV is already making changes within its offensive line following its dismal six-sack letup in their season-opener at Minnesota.

Raymond Austin of the Las Vegas Sun reports that redshirt sophomore Alex Novosel will take over at right tackle for Andrew Oberg, who he replaced late last Thursday. Oberg, also a sophomore, will fill in at Novosel’s previous spot as backup on the left side for offensive team captain Brett Boyko.

Oberg had a rough going against the Golden Gophers, allowing first-year starter Theiren Cockran a school record-tying four sacks – though he was officially held accountable for only three. Cockran was named Big Ten’s Player of the Week as UNLV fell 24-27 after collapsing in the second half.

Both Oberg and Novosel are unproven blockers, but in Novosel’s limited time Thursday, he showed more athleticism and recovery antics which drove Oberg to the bench.

Against the upcoming Arizona Wildcats, Novosel will have an opening test of lining up in front of a much more talented end in Justin Washington.

Re: UNLV Now™ (NCAA 14)

Alright it's looking like Sunday will be my go-to posting day. Just can't ever find the motivation to do write-ups after practice. So yeah, probably won't be able to go so much in-depth like I promised, but I'll try.
