Hawks Stun Birds In Final Seconds

The Atlanta Falcons got within 17 seconds of dethroning the “Kings of January” and advancing to the NFC title game, but it was not to be. When Russell Wilson hit Luke Willson for a 35 yard TD in the opening series of the second half, the Seahawks had a 21-10 lead, But the Falcons overcame that deficit, fighting back with a pair of third quarter touchdowns and a two point conversion to take a 25-21 advantage into the final frame, where the Seattle seemed to have been shut down until its final possession, which ended with Wilson tossing a 6 yard TD pass to Jamaal Charles with only 17 ticks left on the clock.

The Bell Tolls For Big Ben-
Texans Headed To Portland For Another Try At AFC Title

The career of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is over. Big Ben made a retirement announcement in mid-season, and his team rallied around him to present him with the AFC’s home field advantage, but the Steelers’ season has ended as it did a year ago: with a divisional round loss to the Houston Texans. Last time around, injuries denied fans a matchup between 2018 MVP Roethlisberger and 2018 AFC Offensive Rookie of the Year. Both QB’s are in the conversation for 2019 MVP, but neither of them had a typical day as the respective defenses held them mostly in check. The game saw only one offensive touchdown and the Steelers never reached the end zone in their 20-6 defeat. Houston will now be playing in the AFC title game for a second year in a row and will be giving the AFC South the opportunity to represent the conference at the Big Dance for the third consecutive time.

Rams Are One Step Closer After Downing Bucs

The Los Angeles Rams will be playing in the franchise's first NFC championship game for the first time in 18 years, and in their Los Angeles iteration for the first time since 1989, after defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the second time this season. In the first meeting last September LA won by 14 points, and the difference was nearly the same as it handily took a 24-7 victory. The Bucs scored first but never again as the Los Angeles defense picked off Jameis Winston three times. Sean Mannion threw for 241 yards with touchdowns to rookie tight end Mark Andrews and slot receiver Jake Weineke.

Re: California Dreamin'

Quick question Manning2Harrison,

How is weather for you in franchise mode? I tried asking this question in Madden forum but no answers. I am not seeing any variety of weather except for wind. NO rain, No snow.

Thanks.

Re: California Dreamin'

Rivers Runs Dry,
Texans Win Franchise's First AFC Title

After trailing at the end of the first, second and third quarters, the Portland Snowhawks established a 21-20 lead over the Houston Texans on Philip Rivers’ 12 yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Ford with 11:10 remaining in the game. That lead lasted 14 seconds of game time, as the Texans answered immediately with a 75 yard bomb from Mason Rudolph to DeAndre Hopkins. A 2 point pass from Rudolph to Braxton Miller then made it a touchdown game at 28-21. On the first play after the two minute warning, Portland head coach Sean Payton opted for a 36 yard Josh Lambo field goal rather than try to convert a 4th down, then kicked away, trusting his defense to get a quick stop for an opportunity for a game-winning TD drive. Things from there did not go as planned for Payton, however, as the Texans were able to run out the clock and claim the first AFC championship in the 18-year history of the franchise. For Rivers, is was the final game with the team that traded for him during the 2004 NFL draft. Sources close to Rivers say he still “truly undecided” about whether he will retire or continue his career with another team. This was the final year of his contract, and with 2018 first round pick Josh Rosen waiting in the wings, it was mutually agreed between Rivers and the club that there would be no extension.

No "weather" games in LA but Cali's rainy season come after football is over. Plenty of snow games in the playoffs though and I've seen rain as well.

Squeal Like A Pig

Savor the moment because it could be a long time before the Los Angeles Rams get another opportunity to defeat arch-rival Seattle three times in one season. Seattle finally ran out of January mojo, and the Rams once again punched the Seahawks in the nose, achieving a 48-20 victory to claim their first NFC championship since 2001, the fourth all-time for the franchise. LA racked up an eye-popping 643 yards of total offense, mostly due to Sean Mannion, who completed 30 of 40 attempts for 506 yards and 4 touchdowns. James Washington accounted for 164 of those yards and 2 of the TD’s on just 5 catches, with the scores being 75 and 56 yards in length. Of course with numbers like that there has to be bad news somewhere. Unfortunately it came from tight end Mark Andrews, who suffered the second injury of his rookie campaign, sustaining broken ribs on his 1 catch for 19 yards, which will cost him a Super Bowl appearance. That Mannion posted that stat line against the Legion of Doom and absent his favorite receiver makes it all the more impressive. Alshon Jeffery (6 catches, 110 yards) left the game with an elbow injury but will be good to go for the Big Dance. Seeing his first action since returning from his torn bicep, Cordarrelle Patterson grabbed 4 balls for 94 yards and a tub.
