Re: The Greatest Story Ever Told in Texas | The Story of the Rice Owls

Should be all I need, welcome to my dynasty!!! Haven't tried one of these in forever. I have downloaded rosters for the 2016 season, so when I post "Around the NCAA Updates" you should see some very familiar names. I'm decent at this game, but even for me heisman and these sliders is very, very difficult. I expect to struggle early and often. My coach-to-be-named-soon signed a 7-year contract with Rice, so hopefully we're going in the right direction by the time that is up and I don't get fired or anything. Also I am a college student so this won't be moving at a rapid pace at all unfortunately. I mean there may be times where I go a month in between updates.

In Surprising Move, Rice Fires Head Coach David Bailiff

Houston (TX) -- This morning, Rice Athletic Director Joe Kaarlgaard announced that former head coach David Bailiff would not be returning for a tenth season as the head man for Rice.

In nine seasons, Bailiff compiled a a record of 53-60. He took the Owls to four bowl games where his side came away victorious in three of them. Bailiff also led the Owls to the Conference USA Championship in 2013, it was their first conference title since 1994.

The Owls finished 2015 with a disappointing record of 5-7 which led Karlgaard to stating Owls football wasn't consistent enough under Bailiff. "The standard of success needs to be raised here," said Karlgaard. "We expect to compete for the Conference and make a bowl game year-in-year-out, and Dave simply wasn't providing that. We wish the best for him in his future."

When asked what he may be looking for in a new head coach, Karlgaard hinted, "We'd like someone young that can get recruits excited. I firmly believe we need to start recruiting better to achieve this consistent level of success we all desire here. I'd really like to find someone young and energetic that can bring in some of the best high school players in Texas every year. We have already begun a search and hope to name our new head coach within the next few weeks."
